Magic-Con 2012

- I decided to shoot a bit of footage at this year's Magic-Con.
The vision I had in mind originally was to create something that looked and felt like the other convention/jam videos I've done years ago, and I think the outcome turned out quite nice. It reminds me of "Blackpool 2010", in a good way.
It was nice to meet so many awesome cardists and film some footage and hang out with them, and I hope to see everyone again soon.
I hope you enjoy the video. Even though I'm busy shooting music videos and commercials, I'm still around nowdays. That's also part of the reason I wanted to make this video. Relax, I'm probably never going to stop making card videos. I enjoy it too much.

I'd like to address the flourishes vs magic thing. I'm primarily a magician. I do 90% magic. However, I think magic is something that has to be experienced in person. I would LOVE to be able to justify a good magic trick through video - but I simply don't think I can.
Flourishes, however, being less interactive in the sense that they don't require as much spectator participation, and they're an open display of skill, are very suitable for video. That's why the flourishes dominate my jam vids.
This video always cheers me up.

I'm 100% sure that's from Tony Chang. I don't know if he has published that particular trick, but it is very similar to "Sandwiches for mere mortals" and "Sandwiches for your mom". Search it like that.

You probably wont read this but howtoDisturbReality says in his flourish #3 video he says that we shouldnt "hunt down" spectators to perform for but to "reel them in with bait as card flourishes" and also I get more attention from people as a flourisher as to magician

Very good point you've made. The way I tackle this is by recording tricks to live spectators instead of to the camera.
