Surprised there aren't more comments on this. This is a great and thorough coverage of the serve toss and the biomechanics involved. Keep up the great work.
Grant. I'm watching your videos about serves repeatedly in order to be able to do a proper serve. Recently I'm learning tennis in a class whose students are all more experienced and skilled than me. I have never been so enthusiastic and motived about one sport even I have been always looked down upon in.this class. But somehow I know I can play better tennis than they do and it won't take much time. 😊
You've done an amazing job of covering the fundamentals of serving. In fact it is the best I've seen or heard. I have one question that you did not mention, how does the alignment of you feet and tossing arm angles change from the add court? Help please.
hi grant, can we get a different kind of video, maybe watch along your match while analyze it, i saw your 5 common tennis forehand video and i cant stop looking at your hits, its perfect and satisfying how smooth it is, but i wanna see it in some kind of match
Great video Coach VanderHayden. Thank you so much for all the fantastic very detailed training tips. I appreciate them very much and would like to incorporate them on the tennis court. I need to keep practicing and getting better. Keep up the awesome work helping people learn this wonderful sport so they can enjoy it more. Have a superb day!
this is good video instruction - thanks Do you know how to explain process of aiming the serve, and practice/drills that improve precision. What goes through your head when aiming for T or Wide. So far asked number of online coaches and nobody answered with instructional video, probably because it is not easy to explain or maybe they dont know the words that would explain Anyhow, if you already have video on aiming the serve please provide the link. Thanks
I would say where the ball lands in the serving box is a function of how & where you are contacting the ball. For instance, for a slice serve, you brush up on the right side of the ball. For a topspin or kick serve, you are brushing up and out on the ball over your head.
@@moonshine8255 ah I see....so as long as you serve less than 75mph this is good for you right? LOL. THINK about it. Maybe it would be ideal to take advice from somebody who has the mechanics and ability to hit a big serve, not an internet talking head that can't actually do it himself. That really shouldn't be a controversial statement. But hey, keep being triggered Sunshine.
Thanks!
Easily one of the best videos on the specific subject if not the best
For sure. The clock visuals, side-by-side comparisons, and breakdowns of each step were phenomenal. No other video I've seen even comes close.
Honestly this is one of the best videos about serving I have ever watched
Wow! what a demonstration. It is so detailed and covers all points of the serve

best video about serve ever
Are you supposed rock forward as you toss?
You're a master
Thank you Grant
Appreciate the front foot action and the common mistake around trying to stabilize the pelvis. I def do that. Ty !
What string and what string tension do you have it on your racket? I have too much power when hitting and idk what I should have it at. 😭
Hi grant. Curious what strings and tension you use on your pureaero? Love the videos!
this is good video instruction - thanks

Great instructions!
Now, how to transform all info to the reality (with all inhabit bad habits) :)
And to add... Left foot toes up is real game changer. Until now, I did realize how so small sequence can help to transfer a weight ❤
Haven’t seen you for a bit!
😂 effortless pop! Grunts and hits 75mph serve that bounces a foot high and barely reaches the fence.
