    Years ago, when we were first married, my MIL kept track of every minute we spent with my parents and would make comments such as "You spent the ENTIRE weekend with HER parents! You NEVER spend the night at MY HOUSE!" It didn't register with her that we lived 2 hours from my parents - but a 5 minute walk from her house, went to her place every Sunday for dinner (usually arriving around 3 to help with prep), would take them out for lunch or coffee and just give them a call and ask if we could pop over for coffee and treats (and bring them treats). But she kept on and on and on demanding "equal time" between parents. Finally one day, while the husband's entire family was there, my husband glanced at his watch and said "Oh, we'd better go" just as supper was being put on the table. I was confused but thought "whatever" and got up and while everyone said goodbye, his mother was shocked. "WHERE are you going?" My husband just looked at his mom and said "Well, her parents are at 6 hours this month and because we were here on Sunday for dinner, then coffee twice, there was only 2 hours left to keep that equal time between parents so, we have to leave or go to her parents house tomorrow and spend xx time with them." Her jaw hit the floor. His siblings and father were hiding their laughter - and he bought me supper at a little cafe we liked. She tried it one more time and he said "Oh, got to go. We have to keep time equal and it is now the same amount of..." and she was quiet.

    So paul"s mother either wants him to never be married and be alone or have him married to a door mat. A mother like that is the reason he doesn't visit or call.

    • @erickpoorbaugh6728
      @erickpoorbaugh6728 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Then she should be happy because Paul did marry a doormat. There’s really no reason for her to pretend she’s going along with MIL’s murder plot instead of announcing that she’ll be staying in a motel and not even returning to the house.

    • @mariterrones3716

      @@erickpoorbaugh6728 unless this is from someone's real life experience to which I highly doubt the story and the people only have one or two things that could be real and the rest is an exaggerated soap opera stylization of real life. However people and their interactions with their abusers rarely have logical behaviors, actions and reactions together. Most people who have been in an abusive relationship has had their reality twisted to the point where being told the sky is green and the grass is blue and the automatic response is yes. Intelligence is not a defense nor a hindrance to the abuser since all they have to do is to find a weak spot and push. However the wife's reaction is a bit strange but maybe something is lost in translation.

      @@shawnycoffman happened in 2001 in Bakersfield California. My mother-in-law called the cops on me and told them I was drunk and passed out in my front yard. Was I drinking?? Yes. I had two beers and I drank them inside my home. The police asked me my name and I told him. He said, well you don't look drunk to me, I said no sir I just got off work I've only had two beers. Looked down the street and there was my mother-in-law sitting in her car. She never did like me and it really didn't matter to me. The cop went and talked to her and she started running her mouth and the cop had took enough and threw her in jail for harassment. The cop told me I had every right to drink a beer in my own home. Me and my wife laughed our asses off when they put the handcuffs on her. She got out the next day. From that day forward I never had any problems out of her. She still doesn't like me but gives me respect when she's around which isn't too often. But yes, that's my story and I'm still with her daughter to this day and we are doing great.

    And your needs to supercede anything your demand, why?
    "You're the wife..." Yes, im the wife, Paul's wife. And we're at YOUR house not mine so the "housewifery" doesn't apply!
    "You're sleeping in the shed..." First off, the instant you mention my "room" is the shed: a) our conversation would have ended the instant you mentioned it. b) while you're out cold sound asleep, i'd put YOU in that "cold room!"

    When I got married, my father-in-law lived with us. He showed me every ounce of respect I deserved and appreciated what I did for him and his son. He asked me, "Because you married David, what does that make me to you?" I answered "Well, Paul, that would make me your daughter-in-law and you my father-in-law." One summer, my aunt wondered why Paul was keeping his distance. I noticed he was smoking his pipe and told her "He's just trying to be respectful and not blow smoke in everyone's face." A week before he died, he called me from the hospital and said "Thanks for being my daughter-in-law."

    I feel like the reason the FIL managed to get the MIL to sign was not only cause she didn't have a leg to stand on about everything but cause he told her he'd sue her for attempted man slaughter thanks to hurting Paul if she didn't sign. She's lucky she didn't get arrested for what she did to her son, I hope she grows to regret everything as she's left alone with her thoughts & has to think over things that make her realize she had no reason to make OP the bad guy & Paul likely did coincidentally have issues keeping in touch cause of his job.
    While it's stupid that Paul went in there especially drunk it's nice he loved his wife to the point of wanting to be out there with her. At least he'll recover eventually & he can go home to sleep in bed with his loving wife.

    i guess FIL was able to get divorce papers during Christmas from the 24 Hour Divorce store.. I am a CPA who works with lawyers. The writers of these videos are delusional if they think you can just ask for a form, fill it out , sign it and then you are divorced ten minutes later. You do realize it has to go through the court system which has many words describing it, but speedy isn't one of them . Getting a divorce in California which is a no-fault state takes a least 6 months. And with this story where the husband and wife have been married for over 30 year, the process to split marital assets is probably going to be a battle. Can you guys be a little realistic and not have the divorce take 5 minutes or have someone forge someone else's signature. And most of the time, the person being divorced, the mother in this story, don't wind up being destitute with no friends and family

    • @LadyTsuki
      @LadyTsuki ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, these videos tend to have a bad trend for not knowing how the real world works at times. They also do the thing where the husband is like "I'm divorcing you, here's the papers, just sign them" when that wouldn't be how that goes at all. I've heard 6 months is the average, even when there aren't a lot of assets or anything. I imagine such a long marriage with real assets would have to be split in a way that would take FAR longer. Hell, my parents were common-law married in PA, but then we all moved to AZ. AZ considered them legally married so they legally needed to be divorced. It was only 12 year marriage with no real assets to speak of and even THAT took around 6 months, so I can only imagine a scenario like is shown in this story.
      Really though, these stories aren't meant to be entirely realistic, hehe.

      @@danielh6015 Yeah, I can't blame you. Filing for divorce or somewhere around those lines would be more accurate but I think they figure "it's not as exciting if something doesn't happen in the story right away." As a writer, I do understand that, but as someone who also likes facts, I think it's a bad strategy. I could think of a few other ways it could work and still have the same impact without being stupid.

Heck we just found out our oldest son is on the autism spectrum plus he has adhd. My father Inlaw told my husband all we are doing is teaching him to be that way and that we shouldn’t let him into public untill he can control him self. I had to stop the care and end the phone call will my husband because I had to scream with my tears. My husband and I cut all ties with them for this and for over the years they have treated us. This is a MIl that should be NC. I would tell the MN that both of you are busy for the holidays and gang up on her. What a witch.
    I cannot figure iut why this woman (mil) admits her son was a Mama's boy. Most on would hate to have a mother say that about them

    Why not just straight up tell her NO we will NOT be spending the night or we'll get a hotel room?. I would've straight up told her we don't want to come visit you.. she obviously can't take a hint to save her life.. if she could she would've realized her own son barely spoke to her. Why follow her to the shed in the first place? I would've grabbed our stuff and left. Why would a husband and wife sleep in separate rooms ? They're married😒.. why even visit MIL knowing she was going to mistreat you?. I don't go where I'm not wanted or where I'm being disrespected and mistreated.. that's just silly. I would've rented a hotel room. That way I can leave when I'm 2 seconds away from slapping her.
