I've owned 2 different MT07s (here in the states the FZ07 2015 model). I resonate with your feelings regarding the 09. I purchased an 09 about a year and a half ago and miss my 07 dearly. I love the 09 but like you said its very unique in it's own way but the playful/fun character of the 07 is hard to beat! Something special about that 07

Thank you man! I have been using my 09 as my all around commuter and track weapon so it’s been serving it’s purpose well, but nothing an 07 couldn’t handle just fine 🙌

I agree. I have a lot of fun on my MT07. I was thinking of getting a Z400RR but I don't think that I would have as much fun on it as the MT07. I love the low end torque over the sound of the RR.

I sold my 2019 Mt07 and got a XSR900. Now I’m thinking about goin back. Even the slow rides were so much fun on the MT07. Such an awesome machine. Ride safe always.

i didn't drive any type of bikes ever before so i want to start with a motorcycle and i loved the xsr 700 is it good for beginners riders?
@@ali_gt57 I'm not a beginner but I would say it's an awesome bike for someone who wants to get it as a first bike. Provided you take the lessons and learn the bike before u explore it's full potential. But it's a very friendly bike. Probably after a few weeks you would be comfortable on it.

AHHHH MY DREAM
Stumbled across this while reminiscing about my old 07, must be a sign.... best "cheap" bike ever. Like others I also went the 09 route but missed my 07 more to be honest. Its definitely fast enough (realistically) and I felt way more confident pushing on it up in the hills vs the 09, the 09 was awesome but its just that little bit too rapid to go from being fun to being a downright task to hustle it up a winding road with maximum focus required.
I had the same issue when I move on to an MT-09 and i just ended up regreting geting the MT-09 in the end. On the MT-07 i could play with it without getting into jail territory, had great low and mid end grunt for daily riding and just sounded so good!
On the MT-09 i did LOVE the quick shifter, so I just ended up buying an GSX-8S since it has some extra power over the MT-07 but not enough to make it crazy fast and with an QS. Now I can't wait to get an exhaust for it so i can hear that lovely 270 degree crank again. lol

I had MT-09, but sold it that year in personal reasons. Took MT-07 on test drive with thoughts in mind that it might be also good. But didn't got so many emotions as I am getting with MT-09. Going to buy MT-09 2023/2024 next year :)

Ah man I can't wait to get my own MT07..
It will be my first bike as I'm getting my license next year. I have been riding since I was 4 for several years but unfortunately my dad passed away due to a motorbike accident and had nobody to take care of my bikes and all that.. so I had to stop.. but you can't imagine how much I'm waiting to get back on the bike... at 7 years of age I was jumping around with a 125cc motocross haha
I can't wait haha lucky that the MT07 is fairly affordable as well so it's not like I'm braking the bank haha
My advice, get the mt07 pure. Yamaha will have them available till the end of 2024. The new one looks horrible with the TFT display. The pure is only available in black though. I believe the new one is only compatible with the yamaha quickshifter which sucks by the way (for now). Once they go ride-by-wire, that’s when they’ll be ruining the bike completely.
@@MaskedGearhead Thank you for that. I am not looking to get a brand new bike or a recent one, between 2017 and 2020 max. Will make up my mind once I am to cross that bridge, for now focus is getting the A cat. :D

I'm also stuck in a same kind decision. Currently own a CBR650R which has 100hp but i really miss the power curve of my kawa z650 (previous bike).
Now getting a new one soon after this season ends and was looking in to the mt09 but the mt07 might just be more fun. But on the other side it seems kind of stupid to downgrade almost 40hp.

How about a ktm 890? It has the agility of the 07 but the power like a mt09
@Scouse.Malinois oh you’re absolutely right. But because of the unreliability and the price, the ktm is not interesting.

@MaskedGearhead have you had ktm when you speak about unreliability from your personal experience?. Because I have 2020 ktm 790 and 2023 ktm 1290 sdr evo. With 790, I redlined every gear from brand new, and bike never had an issue. 1290sdr is bulletproof engine.
Usually people that never throw their leg on ktm or never even had one talk about ktm unreliability.
@@Sanisani9 No, never. But the intel I have about KTM, were experiences heard directly from people I personally know. Whether it’s components that break, malfunction or components that did not gotten torqued properly from factory (are you kidding me?). These reasons alone are enough for me not to buy an even more expensive bike than our trustworthy Japanese experts. I have to admit, I never heard anything about KTM engine.

Nee, plug and play. Zorg er wel voor dat je de juiste adapters hebt. Vraag me niet welke het zijn, was lang geleden maar heb je puig besteld? Dan kun je op de puig website alle correcte adapters vinden voor uw voertuig

Was the cable fitting the same or did you cut old zipties and made new cable fitting?
I cut them and optimized the cable management to my liking. But I guess you could leave it as is and just work them around without cutting them. It’s possible

If you want to take the real leap, you should go for the KTM 1290 SuperDuke R

@@MaskedGearhead Wooo. A friend has told me the same about questionable reliability. And that he has only driven the Duke 250 and 390. In part I believed that it was only a problem with the entry models. But does it also happen with the high-end ones? I find it very strange 🧐
@@EdgardoMarcano i know a guy who’s aware of this reliability issue but doesn’t mind it at all. He has the super duke R. In his first year, there was an untightened coolant hose clamp (from factory and not checked by dealership) which resulted in the bike not starting up due to a leak. Starter gave it up after a few months. These are enough for me not to lean towards KTM or any european. Beautful bikes but so sad…

but in terms of power, do you feel the difference between the mt09 and mt07?
I have a restricted mt07 but when I get my full license I was planning on selling it and getting the mt09 sp. Not only because of power but because the suspension on the mt07 seems too soft for my weight (95kg).

Yes, huge difference in power. The torque sits verly low on the 07, but the power kicks in a “little” late on the 09. But once it kicks, it really keeps on pulling. It really wants to go to redline. The 09 would be more for you…

Yeah, I think if I did a lot of city riding the mt07 would be better because of the torque down low, but as it is I'm more of a country/twisties riding with some highway to get to the nice roads so I feel like the mt09 it's better suited for me.

@@flesz_ I can but is it worth it spending the money, fixing the papers and new insurance, etc? when I could get another bike with way more power, better suspension, quickshifter, TC, cruise control, etc?
Don't get me wrong, I'm having lots of fun with my mt07, and it's a great beginner bike for the price, but with the full license I want something more solid for riding long term, and the mt07 will probably sell better being A2 compliant.
