National school of Drama Intro

The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by the Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959. In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Government should work more on this part, because after passing out students faces lots of hardships and problem inspite of having a tag of NSD.Apart from heavy training students should have projections toward living and earning.I wish them all the best.

It seems that they are using an old fashioned acting style, too much dancing, too much emotional exageration. Maybe because most of the teacher seem to be old and have not moderenized their way of acting.

Without completely knowing about anything it's very rude and intolerant to comment on someone. Indian theatre is mixture of traditional and modern forms ,dramas with modern techniques involving less exaggerated emotions ,real drama ,no songs, are hugely played by different theatre groups of India at the same time traditional dance forms and traditional dramatic style dramas are also played. It is very important to play the later because it is beautiful for the Indian audience and those foreign audience who are willing to accept indian culture and it keeps the Indian traditional values alive . Just copying the western culture does not mean being modern , every country must have there own culture and should also be tolerant towards other cultures.
Just because in this video you saw some dramas involving traditional styles you came to conclusion that we are back dated . I feel it very important to tell you that our " natya sastra " written by manan muni is first and foremost book written on drama ,it inspired and tought people like constantin Stanislavsky.
