There's nothing to apologize for. To be clear though, this whole 'liquid metal' issue, is still an issue. But not to the scale that people think. The issue ONLY applies to users who have either dropped their consoles and being an idiot, opened it up 'themselves' and tried to fix it, tampering with the barrier around the liquid metal housing (which has been proven by Spawn Wave on his channel in a recent video) or taking it in to a third party repair shop and them doing a 'dodgy' job. All of which void your warranty to begin with if you read the guidelines. Because it says that you should ONLY take your console to a 'authorized' repairer. It will NOT break right out of the box when you first purchase it, unless of course you bought a defective console to begin with, and even then the chance of that is EXTREMELY remote.

Liquid metal is liquid when you place the console vertical the liquid metal pools to the bottom of the processor causing dry spots it's physics horizontal keeps an even coating

I have had my Console changed to Vertical position for about half a year now. The only curious thing is that the bottom AC and HDMI Cord section always gets rather "hot" when I play a game for some time. Thanks for your updated vertical issue assurance though you have put my mind at ease👍👍

Ok question: Will I ever have to replace the Liquid Metal? I’ve had a launch model PS4 for 10 years that still runs perfectly. I’ve never so much as deep cleaned it. I’m a smoker too. And I ran that thing all the time. I’d like to know if the PS5 realistically has that kind of lifespan without me ever having to open it at all.
It may not damage it but it definitely overheats and can brick your console. Almost happened to mine and when I laid it flat it didn’t display issues any longer. There are countless accounts of the console shutting off on its own when stood up vertically. I definitely recommend to lay it down flat.

Not to mention, they advertise this machine IN the vertical position in nearly ALL promo material. It simply didn’t make sense. Its not something that is common enough to be considered an issue. If only a few units of millions have it. But I do think that putting it on horizontal mode is even safer cuz after all it is liquid in there.
@@dante19890 Some...well many don't have space enough to place it horizontal. Also,IF it did get damaged during shiping,it your PS5 would either be dead on arrival or as soon as you turned it on. There is warranty to fix/replace your console. Many things can be damaged during shiping. So don't be paranoid.

I 100% disagree. I have opened many ps5 having this APU liquid metal all on the right of the side of the die and oxidized areas on the surface of the die that need to be cleaned off. I have video and pictures after picture recording this.

Yeah when you're producing units in the tens of millions there're gonna be some issues, sometimes, in the production lines, which leads to some defects, doesn't mean it's a generalized design flaw, it will happen anyway but your PS5 is probably not defective, I guess Sony would've ran into the issue and already solved it while engineering the system had there been a design flaw to begin with. And sometimes, it's due to other factors outside of their control, unofficial repair services making mistakes when faced with a new machine for example 🤷🏼

can you do a video on the internal recording and stream of HDR content on PS5, i was noticing horizon forbidden west was way brighter on my stream then was showing in game ( Tv was not set darker or anything )
That happens with social bs media these days, everyone running with every bs story without verifying it. Sometimes, you make a mistake. Owning your mistake just shows your level of professionalism.
If it can happen and it most certainly can over time, then it's less likely horizontal. Consoles have had many problems in the past and they will in future to.
I think all my consoles have died at some certain point, even tho I take care of all my stuff. I just put my ps5 horizontal, because it aint that silent anymore. I dont wanna stress the coolers, so I have it flat now, well atleast it feels to me that that makes sense to a degree.

If you're one of the unlucky people whose seal breaks down over time and uses it in vertical position then yes the liquid metal will more then likely run down the board. Probably a very small chance of this happening but there is still a chance.
That's not a thing. The seal is just one measure. The other protection is the mesh pad which will stop any liquid from spilling on the board. The only way for this to fail is for the heat sink to be removed and not attached properly. The heatsink compresses the pad to the point of making it impermeable. There are two ways to make this fail. The first (what we saw here) is for a technician to open it and not close it properly,. The second is to drop you PS5 hard enough to break it. Its not gonna just happen

I was going to change mine to horizontal, I have the second edition, and have used it since September in vertical mode. Glad I don't have to worry now! Edit, September 25, 2022 through today, Jan 17, 2023.

It is commendable that you decided to make this video to sort of appoligize. However again you are exagarating with "there is no quality in games and TVs anymore" . There IS quality and you know it. Why would you say otherwise is beyond me. Sure , cost saving measures are annoying,but that doesn't mean that the product isn't decent or even phenomenal. "Simply" purchase higher end TV IF you can afford it. I dread to think how would you review lower and TVs. If you had a scale 0 - 10 or 0 - 5 would you give 0 out of 10 to each comparing them directly to your OLED or would have separate scales. Nothing wrong in direct comparisons,I suppose unless you need it for justfying 0/10 for every low end TV. If you are into high end/higher midrange TVs exclusively however,perhaps some Sony Bravia that according to marketing automaticaly finds best HDR settings for PS5 games is in order. Perhaps you should be doing scripted videos and read from something. Or watch them 2 or 3 times to check if something should be edited out/in.
This is a real issue, it surfaced recently and I will explain why. The PS5 uses liquid metal encased in a seal to keep it in place on the PS5, this seal can be broke or damaged being very brittle due to a few reasons: 1. The console was dropped or damaged it in any way. 2. Regular wear and tear due to time passage and using (the issue was found more common in consoles from 2 years ago or similar). ***The bad thing is that 99% of users won't know if the seal is damaged unless you open the console. When the console is being held vertically you already have more heating because the lower vent is partially blocked by the PS5 stand. Due to gravity that liquid metal will tend to be in the lower part of the component resulting already in again... more heating. If the seal was not damaged by point 1 above meaning damage or drops it can also get damaged in time due to usage especially for heavy users or gamers. Everybody on TH-cam is trying to assure us that these issues do not exist but unfortunately they are real and dangerous. So if you can afford to buy a new PS5 or even find one in case of damage by this issue, then you have no problem to keep it any way you want. BUT if there is even a small chance for this problem to damage your console and you care about your objects and possessions than just place it horizontally. Everything I've said here is just a summary of all videos on TH-cam going on about this at the moment, where I also saw proof of their statements. OF COURSE this may also be very FAKE or not true, but why take the risk ? especially when we're given logical facts. It's not like they're claiming that our consoles will suddenly internally combust.

This is something I thought might be an issue when I read about the PS5 having "liquid metal" cooling and standing vertical two years ago. What astounds me is why it took so long for someone to cite this as an issue. I mean it's pretty obvious that this design along with gravity and a vertical orientation could damage your PS5 *if* the mounting is damaged somehow. Clearly, it isn't an issue because Sony's whole marketing focuses on the PS5 being vertically orientated and it is shown this way on the box! And no issues with my PS5 either which has been placed vertical since launch over two years ago. It has only been moved once to install a 2 TB NVMe SSD.

The leakage possibility is very much real. I should know. I repair PS5s with this problem. If the seal is faulty, the liquid will leak and when it touches the transistors it will short circuit. I've been saying from the start to people to keep their PS5s horizonal. Because liquid metal and gravity.
@@MichaelM28 Michael, the liguid metal will not leave the special socket, but it will fall off the CPU, and touch some transistors that are inside that socket around the CPU and cause short circuit. I can send you pics with my PS5 leakage to make a point.

@@GameslordXY Don't you dare. It's clear to me now that you have 0 clues and understanding about electrotechnics, especially the inside of a PS5. There are transistors around the processor in the socket. Over them there is a heat resistant black band. The liquid gets under that band. The problem is that Sony should have sprayed a layer of electric resistant coating on those resistors if they decided to use liquid metal. That is why so many PS5s get short circuited. I had to cover the transistors with a special heat resistant polish made by Thermal Grizzly. Now if metal liquid will spill o er the transistors, can't short anymore. If you want, I could send you some pics with the liquid meta leaks, so you can here a better understanding on this matter before starting having an opinion, a stupid opinion, like the one you just had.

Liquid metal moves very easily putting your console vertical creates a dry spot at the top of the processor just lay it down
Vertical looks best, horizontal is safest. Simple math, Gravity + Physics + Time = Results
If damaged yes.
Otherwise you worry too much.

Yeah when you're producing units in the tens of millions there're gonna be some issues, sometimes, in the production lines, which leads to some defects, doesn't mean it's a generalized design flaw, it will happen anyway but your PS5 is probably not defective, I guess Sony would've ran into the issue and already solved it while engineering the system had there been a design flaw to begin with.
And sometimes, it's due to other factors outside of their control, unofficial repair services making mistakes when faced with a new machine for example 🤷🏼

can you do a video on the internal recording and stream of HDR content on PS5, i was noticing horizon forbidden west was way brighter on my stream then was showing in game ( Tv was not set darker or anything )
The problem was in the thermal pads of the first models, they were too high, a guy from the BGA TECH channel in Brazil discovered the problem.

If you're one of the unlucky people whose seal breaks down over time and uses it in vertical position then yes the liquid metal will more then likely run down the board. Probably a very small chance of this happening but there is still a chance.
That's not a thing. The seal is just one measure. The other protection is the mesh pad which will stop any liquid from spilling on the board. The only way for this to fail is for the heat sink to be removed and not attached properly. The heatsink compresses the pad to the point of making it impermeable. There are two ways to make this fail. The first (what we saw here) is for a technician to open it and not close it properly,. The second is to drop you PS5 hard enough to break it. Its not gonna just happen

Regarding quality do you have any experience, background? Do you even know what quality is or what it stands for?
This is a real issue, it surfaced recently and I will explain why. The PS5 uses liquid metal encased in a seal to keep it in place on the PS5, this seal can be broke or damaged being very brittle due to a few reasons:
1. The console was dropped or damaged it in any way.
2. Regular wear and tear due to time passage and using (the issue was found more common in consoles from 2 years ago or similar).
***The bad thing is that 99% of users won't know if the seal is damaged unless you open the console.
When the console is being held vertically you already have more heating because the lower vent is partially blocked by the PS5 stand. Due to gravity that liquid metal will tend to be in the lower part of the component resulting already in again... more heating. If the seal was not damaged by point 1 above meaning damage or drops it can also get damaged in time due to usage especially for heavy users or gamers.
Everybody on TH-cam is trying to assure us that these issues do not exist but unfortunately they are real and dangerous. So if you can afford to buy a new PS5 or even find one in case of damage by this issue, then you have no problem to keep it any way you want.
BUT if there is even a small chance for this problem to damage your console and you care about your objects and possessions than
just place it horizontally.
Everything I've said here is just a summary of all videos on TH-cam going on about this at the moment, where I also saw proof of their statements.
OF COURSE this may also be very FAKE or not true, but why take the risk ? especially when we're given logical facts. It's not like they're claiming that our consoles will suddenly internally combust.

All you have is some tape holding the liquid metal in place. Once the adhesive fails it will leak vertical or horizonal. I own a PS4 and I don't want a PS5 to play PS4 games. Liquid metal also has destroyed ASUS laptops.

This is something I thought might be an issue when I read about the PS5 having "liquid metal" cooling and standing vertical two years ago. What astounds me is why it took so long for someone to cite this as an issue. I mean it's pretty obvious that this design along with gravity and a vertical orientation could damage your PS5 *if* the mounting is damaged somehow. Clearly, it isn't an issue because Sony's whole marketing focuses on the PS5 being vertically orientated and it is shown this way on the box!
And no issues with my PS5 either which has been placed vertical since launch over two years ago. It has only been moved once to install a 2 TB NVMe SSD.

If the seal is faulty, the liquid will leak and when it touches the transistors it will short circuit.
I've been saying from the start to people to keep their PS5s horizonal.
Because liquid metal and gravity.

It's clear to me now that you have 0 clues and understanding about electrotechnics, especially the inside of a PS5.
There are transistors around the processor in the socket. Over them there is a heat resistant black band.
The liquid gets under that band.
The problem is that Sony should have sprayed a layer of electric resistant coating on those resistors if they decided to use liquid metal.
That is why so many PS5s get short circuited.
I had to cover the transistors with a special heat resistant polish made by Thermal Grizzly.
Now if metal liquid will spill o er the transistors, can't short anymore.
If you want, I could send you some pics with the liquid meta leaks, so you can here a better understanding on this matter before starting having an opinion, a stupid opinion, like the one you just had.
