yep! Try out the swims that are inaccessible to all but the most intrepid anglers. Standing up to yer nads in a cold river surrounded by jaggy branches and snaggy bushes is the way forward. Great video and proof again that something as simple as changing the orientation of the bait in the water can bring fast results. Good Stuff. Oh, yes while I remember, when you open your bags of Roach deadbaits or whatever, leave them in the original bag and put the whole thing into a ziplok , extra insurance against rancid roach juice leakage. Cheers
You really do make it look easy!! I was thinking about using actual fish instead of lures so now I've seen your video its given me the confidence to try it out. Thanks & tight lines for your next outing.🎣😎🐟

Hey mate , your fish look far bigger to me than your estimates , unless the camera is making them look bigger who knows 🤷thanks for the upload, I prefer the lures though 😉
Sizes seem about right give or take a pound, think it still quite early in season he's fishing so they haven't really filled out and packed the weight on for spawning (or are just jacks)
Your countryman, Graeme Pullen, is maybe the greatest devotee of dead baiting for pike.... He can really make those sprats do a dance. But youre catching up. Love to see it, and you doing it! PS does anyone ever eat the pike? David S Carolina
Nice to you using a “classic” method! I notice you don’t use anything to increase the scent trail such as an injected oil or a couple of slashes in roaches side? Your river is so clear the pike must be hunting on sight a lot of the time, the River Wey where I fish is just too murky to rely on sight only most of the time so use I will use both options to increase my chances. I wish it wasn’t dirty so I could enjoy pike spotting 😁👍🏻
My fav. way to rig a dead bait is use a wire as a needele and let a hook sit in the moth of the roach. So the wire through the mouth and all through the fish with the leader and attatch the pike leader to the mainline. The hook is often a single.
hello ginger nice to see we all like catching pike of all sizes enjoyed your vid have you ever fished the river crossens southport mid twenties at the back drain you would have a ball eel man
Love the videos Chris, hope you’re elbow heals asap 👍 Noticed you don’t use any weights on your deadbait float set ups, do you have any issues with frozen deadbaits floating and if yes how do you overcome this? Thanks
How do you know where the good places to fish are, like when you look at the water how do you know where the fish live, can you make a video about that?
They are ambush predators they use cover mostly to attack so any margins, reeds, small holes at bottom of lake beds and over hanging trees but they really love slack water which is good for the float coz it will not drift too fast through the swim
Chris , you seem to be very conservative with your weight guesses or maybe the Camera makes em look bigger? , lovin your vids , went to the R Dane for an early fish other day around Middlewich , there are a few small pike but the Chub are very aggressive and I have yet to take my 3 rd Pike from this pretty little River in ten years !but had Chub to 6 lb [most about 2 to 4 ] a big Grayling on a Mepps must have been 2 lb. Your River is also a pretty River, looks very much like the Dane, what is that river Chris ? not asking for a fishing mark just the name of it, Small rivers always pique my interest .Nice Handling too Chris , the Pike often get a rough deal when being handled although education is turning the Tide on fish welfare methinks
Never had a pike on dead’s. My pb 20lb 9oz ( in my profile pic) I caught on an 18cm savage gear line thru roach in bream colour. Need to catch one on dead’s
He de-barbs all the hooks bar one on each treble . These are the two barbs he puts into the bait to stop it coming off when casting . Most people who use trebles when dead baiting use this strategy . I dont personally use trebles but they are extremely effective for pike fishing .
Be interested to hear if anyone is doing on dead bait currently... been dead recently, live on the door step of the river (Ouse) . Couch fishing this time of yr dead bait out on bite alarm .. had nice 12lb last week nothing since tried different stuff , wonder if the change in temp is to blame ?!
Without a doubt one of the best lure fisherman and all round pike angler in the country watched all your vids🤛

Pike tend to be quite a long fish but are very skinny that’s why it looks a lot bigger than his estimates
Hrs holding the fish out. Not close to him. And this makes the pike look bigger as its closer to the camera
I thought that too, probably about 5.5/6lb i've seen some anglers would call that 10lb

I am learning how to be a pike angler by learning from the ginger fisherman he is awesome
Nice size river pike in the last few videos I had 5 trips to the river and only 1 pike.

Wow, thats fantastic fishing! have you gone away from the circle-hooks for a special reason?
Reason you're not using circle hooks? . I thought you was converted?
Loving the content
Great video mate 👌 do you wear polarised glasses? I've been thinking about buying a pair but not sure on brand etc
It'll be my first pair of polarised and I heard they're a game changer
Definitley worth investing in a decent pair mate
Hi first comment keep up the great vids
Had a go with sprats/smelt on the circle hooks with trace and ssg 3 fish perfect hook ups in an hour
Great vid as always . What were those forceps you used at around the 13 min mark?
Great video
Great video really enjoyed that. Do you use bait elastic? Also any tips for fishing flooded rivers?
What landing nets do you use ?
Please ?
Love your videos
Thanks
Happy days and tight lines
Really good video
have you used the circle hooks for deadbaits? had my first one on a circle hook yesterday with a live bleak as bait and it worked perfectly
Have you ever used a helicopter rig for pike?
How do you know where the good places to fish are, like when you look at the water how do you know where the fish live, can you make a video about that?
more pike fly fishing over the winter?
Great video 👍
Super vids, new to pike fishing and want to get a bait cast rod/reel.
Can you recommend ? (Approx £100)
Morning. What are those black pieces you have over the tops of both trebles?
Have you done any vids on river water craft, I never know what river features to look for when targeting pike?
They are ambush predators they use cover mostly to attack so any margins, reeds, small holes at bottom of lake beds and over hanging trees but they really love slack water which is good for the float coz it will not drift too fast through the swim

So out of pure curiosity, how come you've gone from circles to two semi barbed trebles?? Genuinely intrigued bud 🤙🏻
Never understand why bait companies never sell stuff in resealable bags. I know some do
Hi what size reel do you use and length rod please for roving
awesome vid!!

Nice on more of this
They look healthy, all right, but shouldn't they be fatter before the winter?
Can you try catch a pike on bacon? Heard old pike fishers saying rancid bacon is great bait. Would love to see you try 😉 challenge excepted?
Only pike angler in the country who under estimates fish weights 😂
Do you de-barb the hooks?

Ginger fisherman what net do you use I'm looking for a net like that
Do you need a loaded float for this?
How deep is that channel your fishing in
in my city we don't have shops with dead baits
you've got good eyes (and glasses) !
What braid are you using
Have you had many issues with otters in recent years where you are? They have decemated fish stocks In Our area
Do you de-barb your trebles yourself?
do you ever use a helicopter rig for fishing pike ?
Heli rig good to use if fishing static bottom with lead, and you need to cast far away , in this scenario no need lead. 👌🏼
hi pal what rod you using ?

What rods is the black one

how many grams is the bobber?
Do you catch your own dead baits..
Superb!
Does anyone know the place or city where is he fishing?
Good fishin.. second last fish...my kinda nook n crevicing.....pike will often take very ripped up mawled...dead bait presentations...
Can you send me a link of the Abu Garcia rod and reel you got mate 💪🏻
What weight is the line
