This great man is well travelled and actually quite popular wherever he goes, because of his many achievements and scholarly wit…. And this explains why he is a polyglot, for more than 20 languages all over the world. Although considered to have a short stature, he has an amazing charisma to women wherever he goes.

Some versions says because Josephine was frightened, she ran and hit her stomach on an iron stand. One version even says that it was because she was having an intense quarrel with Rizal that she had a miscarriage.

He made a name in all those places in different forms. Like writing in news papers, taking up new class subjects, paint, draw anything he finds interesting and can help himself and the family back home.

If I remember correctly, Heidelberg Germany was where his novel, "Noli Me Tangere", was published. He also pursued further studies in Germany when he found out that medical studies was more advance there than in Spain. In Hongkong, where he lived for about a year, he set up an eye clinic there and people of different nationalities came to see him for medical advice. He became well-known there and patients had to line up to seek treatment.

I guess the reason why Jose Rizal's monument is all over the world because of his bravery in fighting against Spanish regime in the Philipines by writing books like Noli Me Tangere, La Solidaredad and Mi Ultimo Adios. Another reason maybe because he traveled a lot in those places and he spoke 23 foreign languages fluently.

Rizal's sisters Olimpia, Maria and Lucia used to tease and laughed at him for molding some historical figures when he was young. He told his sisters that "okay, laughed at me now, but in the future, see if people will make statues of me." Fast forward to the present, if his sisters were alive today, they would have regretted laughing at him lol. I think he has got lots of monuments all over the world because they recognize him for his significant literary and scientific contributions, wide influence, outstanding achievements, intelligence and heroism. Btw, I am amazed that you took interest in our national hero. Well, his writings would really make you fall in love and "kilig". One example would be Noli Me Tangere ( no need to translate this for you since you both understand these words perfectly).

Rizal travelled extensively around Europe, particularly in the Western part. He studied medicine in Madrid, continued his education in Paris where he earned his second doctorate, and finished his opthalmology studies in Heidelberg, Germany where he practiced in an eye clinic there. I believe he also treated and operated his own mother's eye during that time. He does not only have a street named after him in Heidelberg but also a park on top of a hill dedicated to him.
Rizal was not only a polyglot who speaks 22 languages but also a polymath -- he was a poet, creative writer, novelist, doctor, land surveyor (at least that's what he finished in Ateneo but not sure if he practiced it). He also dabbled in other fields like economics, architecture, sociology, ethnology, martial arts, fencing, etc.

I will not be able to conpletely answer all the questions but let me try:
    1) Rizal extensively travelled Europe (mostly the western part) when he was studying in Madrid to be an opthalmologist to cure his mother's cataract. He even met with his close foreigner friend named Blumentritt (i forgot if he is German or Austrian) and had a duel with Antonio Luna over a girl (Nelly Boustead?? Josephine Bracken??? Gertrude Beckett???? Im bad in remembering names) when he was in London (or was it in Spain? I cannot remember its all messed up Im sorry) . Rizal also had a love affair with a girl he called "Osei-san" with his stay in Japan. Basically everywhere he goes he always had love affairs lol. The monuments in USA/Canada/Australia are only honorary (although he had visited New York? Lol i dont remember anymore) or maybe thru the efforts of the pinoy communities there. There is supposed to be another monument in Fujian in China where it was speculated that it was the place where Rizal's chinese roots came from but it was not shown on the video. The monument was a replica of the Luneta one. There are a lot more not shown in this video you'll get tired trying to research all of them so you can just speculate that most monuments in Europe are probably places he has visited and anywhere outside would just be honorary or a recognition of his contributions and talents (except hongkong, singapore, tokyo, new york(?) which he has actually visited) .
    2) The monument in Madrid was built in 1996 and is just a replica of the one in Luneta park in Manila. The one in Luneta was built during American times and it was the time most of Rizal monuments are built throughout the country.

Rizal fought with Luna about Nelly Boustead (who was half French, half Filipina). He allegedly proposed to her, but the only thing that prevented them from getting marriage was their religion. Nelly wanted him to convert to Protestant so that her mother would allow the union between them, but Rizal refused to convert, so they broke up.
Gertrude Beckett was a woman who was in love with Rizal when he travelled to England, but Rizal didn't have the same feelings towards her. When he left England without her knowledge, he sculpted a mini bust of Getrude and her sisters as a goodbye gift. She allegedly tried to write letters to him, but he would not respond back 😂
Josephine Braken was his last girlfriend and alleged wife. They allegedly had a son together while he was in exile in Dapitan, but the son (who was named after Rizal's father) died 3 hours after his birth. His son birth and death was on the same year Rizal was executed in 1896.
I love history and was interested in learning about Rizal's interesting life, and this information was what I gathered from the numerous documentaries about his as told by respected historians. Of course with his many achievements, they couldn't skip the many relationships he had so I had no other choice but to sit and watch as they explain about all his girlfriends 😂 Hope this clarifies things.

The reason why Dr. Jose Rizal has monuments in numerous countries.. It's because of his being a very good eye doctor that royal families of some countries get availed of his service as doctor. Most of his service are for free. Aside from that he has an enormous wealth that he help other countries survive their economy. He rose up from a super wealthy family that is why he was able to study abroad and travel almost around the world funded by Ońate's wealth. He has a Filipino and Spanish blood. He descended from the Ońate's family of Spain but settled in Zacaticas Mexico. His great great grand father was Don Juan Antonio Berdan Ońate a Spanish merchant and a miner and from Spain the Oñates settled in Zacaticas Mexico for a special mission sanctioned by the King of Spain.

We have one here in Baguio City, Philippines too. It's a park (well most monuments in PH I think are parks, Luneta may be the largest of area)....
Was also able to visit the place where he was exiled, Dapitan City in Mindanao... That area is now a museum.... In that place believed to where he buried his son who died of still birth.

    • @shennamj6650
      @shennamj6650 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah its simply called Rizal Park for locals located in Dapitan City. Well there's a story about that. jose rizal had a lover, josephine bracken with a blind father. And Jose Rizal became the doctor of Josephine's father, since they initially went to seek Rizal since he is famous for being an opthamologist. There's also this big rock in the rizal park, where it said to be a dating spot of Josephine and Jose. And yes, they had a child, unfortunately buried underneath the house.
Before there are claims that guards could hear a baby cry echoing the park late afternoon. And some say they saw a boy disappeared underneath that particular house.

Rizal was really a traveler, writer, poet, and doctor, although he opposes colonial rule, especially Spanish Rule but he preferred to do it in a non-violent protest through writing. It was the Americans who insistently made him a National Hero of the Philippines because they want to inculcate to the minds of Filipinos the typical non-violent revolutionary hero. For most Filipinos, the true revolutionary hero is Andres Bonifacio because he truly took up arms and died in battle to fight colonizers.

The statue in Madrid is a replica of the one in Luneta (Rizal) Park, Manila. The Luneta Park was erected even during the American occupation. On the other hand, the Madrid replica was only erected in 1996. Spain did not recognize Rizal as the hero of the Philippines until 1996 because he was considered a traitor to the Spainish government.

He was a doctor so in part it was for further studies (to become a doctor and specialization) and a freedom fighter at the same time.
I could be misquoting here, bu i think he said "the pen is mightier than the sword"? It was ecause of his novels (2 of which we're required to study in junior and senior years in high school) the further impelled the people to fight for freedom from Spanish tyranny at the time. Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
It portrayed the struggles and experiences of the Filipino "Indios" so eloquently and with such impact that the outside world could not help but pay attention to.
Of course, those he met were besieged by troubles in their own countries as it was a shifting world.
He and a group of Filipinos like him, helped to usher in freedom, which we now enjoy thanks to them.
Sigh... Bow. Hahaha speech over 😅
