I love the way you ‘shopped’ your outfits. I like to look on Pinterest every fall for outfits I think I would wear then shop my own wardrobe. If I need an item or two to complete it, I’m good! I ‘shop’ adds on line too. I don’t need to go out and buy all that stuff. I shop my own closet first then,if possible, thrift what I can.

I love marigold flowers , yellow and orange colors..i can't remember the last time i bought those seeds ..maybe 15 + yrs ..all because I get them from my garden now,, they are easy to grow and bloom very quickly and last from spring trough fall....the best 99 cents i ever spent that still giving...LOL..oh by the way I love that snuggly peach/orange coat ,it goes with everything...now im going to have to look for one too.

Hello to you both, Amazing changes in weather systems, Here in England we had "Storm Bert, " lots of localised flooding . Your outfits look great good choices, I was thrift shopping yesterday in the City of Chester 20 minute train ride from my home, I found a few pieces to take home. So busy this time of year I think more people thrift shop now than ever before, I have been a thrift shopper for most of my adult life, It's saves money and helps a good cause. I love your sense of childlike wonder, and I need to capture that sentiment again in MY life during the Winter and cold months. I think Marigolds are a lot like steadfast, reliable people. We have a tendency to take for granted how awesome they are. My Marigolds are still blooming here in South Central Pennsylvania, along with my Lantana, which is definitely a new favorite. The colors of the Lantana are absolutely gorgeous, they are very hardy, the critters don't bother with them, and they press beautifully! Great job on thrifting! It IS fun to put together outfits like that. I love your flower blanket on your sofa....so adorable. I hope you have a wonderful, cozy week ahead....and freeze some of that soup! It's awesome to enjoy it here and there rather than all at once. I use my small Mason jars for that. 😃

We had snow in West Devon, England, for one day last Thursday the 21st November, it really came down hard all morning, and settled, which was so beautiful. Our Ukrainian girls who did not go to school as it was closed, built a snowman, and he was so lovely! But by Friday it was almost all gone, then we got storm Bert come on Saturday, with high winds and rain! It is getting better today, as the wind is not so strong, but it was so scary having to take Madge out for her walks, which I have to do so she can do her business, as I have no garden here. I was so scared that a branch would fall on us, as like you, we are surrounded by trees, which I love. We are all in one piece thankfully, and it has suddenly got much milder. The weather has been so strange here! Thank you for your lovely video, and warm hugs from afar to you and your beautiful Charlie dog, from Jilly & Madge. xxx

I’m a “hot” person too, so I also really love the cold weather! Tbh, I’m a little jelly of your snow because I live in a hot climate. Your soup looked so yummy and warming. I’d suggest freezing a couple of serves while it’s still fresh. I freeze mine in snap lock bags. I lay them flat on a cookie sheet, get as much air as possible and freeze them that way. Since they’re fairly thin, when I want to warm it up it snaps into pieces and heats really fast. Charlie sure did look cozy the night the power went out and those candles make everything look so cozy and romantic too. I loved your dupes and think you look so good in them, you really got the thrifting jackpot! I hope the snow means you’ll have more rain next spring/summer. As I remember, last winter you didn’t get much snow and I’ve wondered if that’s why your spring and summer were so dry, maybe? I’m going to look for those huge marigolds and see if I can find them. I wanted to also say that we got winter here the same way, it was mild, mild, mild, and then all of a sudden it's cold. The trees look beautiful in your drone shots without the leaves, they look like clouds floating in the tops of the forrest .I personally love the rain and the snow, my favorite is actually about 40 and drizzly, but I very, very much love snow too!

:) I finally got the chance to swing back in and leave a comment for you. Your situation with the power out reminded me of a funny/scary/lonely time in my life. Which I survived and learned from. Back in 2011 I was living in a little house on the edge of a village. I'd been recently aloned. (if you know what I mean) But I was not alone. I had a cat named sidewinder (he had a skeletal abnormality from birth which caused him to walk side ways!) my little Emelia Airheart (pudgy lit chi) Maxwell Einstein (terrier) & one more kit named Mama. It was Christmas eve. We had a blizzard with feet of snow. The power went out, no heat or electric; and I was too chicken to drive. So, I got out the sleeping bags. lit candles, heated my supper on top of a candle holder haha, had some wonderful tea also by candle heat, wrapped up inside the bags with both doggos & read Jules Verne-20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by candlelight.

I make a big pan of soup, save two portions in the fridge and freeze 4 in separate bpa free bags (once it's cooled). That way it doesn't get old. Did you know that marigolds are a temple flower in India? They sell 'flower malas' (like an Hawiian lei) for offerings. A string of them would be so pretty in your cottage in the summer. What an AWESOME collection you found at Goodwill!! They look amazing on you! This "hot" girl spent 2 weeks in October traveling up the PCH starting in San Diego, up the Cali coast, then over to Crater Lake. We were there for their first snow this year!! My soul was SOO happy!!❤
Love the outfits!! So cute! One of the things I started doing a few years ago is buying a set of small containers that are individual meal size and when I make soup or stews I fill them with my left overs and use freezer tape on the top as a label and write what's inside. This way I have a frozen meal for another night when my husband is working nights or I don't want to cook.
You nailed the Free People looks! We got our first snowfall the other day, as well. I can't say I was ready for it, but Chad and I ventured out in it anyway. We had to go do our weekly grocery shop, then we came home and made chili. It was perfect for the cold day. We also recently started watching Ghosts and it's so funny! Kate, it's so funny, I sat down to write a comment, late again as it's Wednesday evening! I then got distracted by the other comments and started to like them all, as everyone is so lovely and they echo my thoughts. It was so adorable to see you holding Charlie's little body up and checking for ticks and to see you kissing him. I used to do that with my son because he had super chubby cheeks. Those outfits are adorable! I absolutely LOVE Free People. My friend owns a consignment boutique where I live and when she gets FP in she calls me right away. Chihuahuas and blankets is a real thing hahaha. Our Dublin (a deer head Chihuahua who looks so much like Charlie) always has a stack of blankets. I also have a handmade magic bag for him. He loves it this time of year ❤️
Great thrift finds! The outfits look so right for you. The jacket was a perfect addition 🙂 I'm in a 4 season climate too and love each one. About in the middle of Autumn I'm ready to put the gardening (not the garden though) away until Spring. The soups, stews, transition into frequent teas. Baked stuffed acorn squash is a favorite of the hubs and mine. Apple, cinnamon, raisins, sometimes sausage. We each get a half. I'm ready for snow too.

I planted marigolds this year too. Just one plant has left me with many seeds for next year.i love only having to buy it once and have seeds for the year to come. Many pests do not like marigolds which is also a good selling point. You and Charlie stay warm. ❤
I suggest you get an electric heated throw and blanket or a heated mattress pad. It saves money on energy bills and is sooooo nice to get into a bed or the couch and have it toasty warm.
Have felt the same way about the weather this week (have had the same here) I Baked and did some chicken veg soup, as well. And have determined that I will be better freezing my big one pot meals I love so much....but yes, all week if I don't! Already have 2 one pot meals leftovers (ravioli with ragu and collards from my garden, and beef and egg noodles, yum) in the freezer and feel wonderful about it!

Hi Kate, As usual, you didn't disappoint, with this video. I was so excited about your thrift haul. It is a great feeling when you score but, to score big, as you did, is the best feeling. Like your area, here in Eastern Ontario, it has been grey, rainy and extremely windy. Soup, though, is just the solution, to get feeling warm and cozy. In my two bedroom apartment, I have the electric fireplace on, with just the flames, to achieve the right ambiance. It works and, I am knitting leg warmers, while watching your video. You might want to consider making nice, chunky, leg warmers for your winter look. I like them with my long skirts, pants, leggings and long boots. Very, Boho chic! An idea I applied, while living in Montreal, to my office wardrobe, each day. Hand made are the best, though in, 2 plain, 2 purl! Have you considered training Charlie to use Pee Pads? My five pound, Chi, Rudy, who just turned three, went from a nervous nellie, to a confident, tiny, dog. He goes on his Pee Pad and outdoors! He, now, walks off leash and stays, always, to my left. I remember seeking advice from you, when I first brought him home, about a year, plus, ago. I am so proud of my little guy. He has fit into my quiet way of life, caring for my disabled hubby of fifty six years, beautifully. Marigolds are a great deterrent to all manner of garden pests. I put mine in vegetable, flower and shrub beds. It did wonders. In India, the marigold is treasured and, you will see Indians wearing Marigold garlands and in their hair. Oh my… here in the DFW area (Texas), I always see Free People clothing for sale for really cheap, even free at times, on FB Marketplace. I always think of you when I come across them. Facebook Marketplace is my window shopping retail therapy option as prices go up everywhere. I wish I could send the links to you when I come across them in case they might ship it to you. I absolutely admire your life, especially the snow at this time. You know, how you described using FP pics to inspire you, it reminds me of how manifesting works. Just interesting. Here’s a tip: Freeze 1/3, or half, of your soup on the first day. That way when you defrost it, it will be fresh and last another 4 days without getting past the safety timeframe. That’s what I do and it is such a huge relief to have it when I am too busy to cook. I do this with a lot of my meal planning. I freeze 1/3 or half of soups and dishes that freeze well, like pasta bakes, etc. Have a lovely week, Kate. 🌺

I love the way you ‘shopped’ your outfits. I like to look on Pinterest every fall for outfits I think I would wear then shop my own wardrobe. If I need an item or two to complete it, I’m good! I ‘shop’ adds on line too. I don’t need to go out and buy all that stuff. I shop my own closet first then,if possible, thrift what I can.

I love marigold flowers , yellow and orange colors..i can't remember the last time i bought those seeds ..maybe 15 + yrs ..all because I get them from my garden now,, they are easy to grow and bloom very quickly and last from spring trough fall....the best 99 cents i ever spent that still giving...LOL..oh by the way I love that snuggly peach/orange coat ,it goes with everything...now im going to have to look for one too.

Hello to you both, Amazing changes in weather systems, Here in England we had "Storm Bert, " lots of localised flooding . Your outfits look great good choices, I was thrift shopping yesterday in the City of Chester 20 minute train ride from my home, I found a few pieces to take home. So busy this time of year I think more people thrift shop now than ever before, I have been a thrift shopper for most of my adult life, It's saves money and helps a good cause. We have a tendency to take for granted how awesome they are. My Marigolds are still blooming here in South Central Pennsylvania, along with my Lantana, which is definitely a new favorite. The colors of the Lantana are absolutely gorgeous, they are very hardy, the critters don't bother with them, and they press beautifully! Great job on thrifting! It IS fun to put together outfits like that. I love your flower blanket on your sofa....so adorable. I hope you have a wonderful, cozy week ahead....and freeze some of that soup! It's awesome to enjoy it here and there rather than all at once. I use my small Mason jars for that. 😃

We had snow in West Devon, England, for one day last Thursday the 21st November, it really came down hard all morning, and settled, which was so beautiful. Our Ukrainian girls who did not go to school as it was closed, built a snowman, and he was so lovely! But by Friday it was almost all gone, then we got storm Bert come on Saturday, with high winds and rain! It is getting better today, as the wind is not so strong, but it was so scary having to take Madge out for her walks, which I have to do so she can do her business, as I have no garden here. I was so scared that a branch would fall on us, as like you, we are surrounded by trees, which I love. We are all in one piece thankfully, and it has suddenly got much milder. I’m a “hot” person too, so I also really love the cold weather! Tbh, I’m a little jelly of your snow because I live in a hot climate.
Your soup looked so yummy and warming. I’d suggest freezing a couple of serves while it’s still fresh. I freeze mine in snap lock bags. I lay them flat on a cookie sheet, get as much air as possible and freeze them that way. Since they’re fairly thin, when I want to warm it up it snaps into pieces and heats really fast.
Charlie sure did look cozy the night the power went out and those candles make everything look so cozy and romantic too.
I loved your dupes and think you look so good in them, you really got the thrifting jackpot!
I hope the snow means you’ll have more rain next spring/summer. As I remember, last winter you didn’t get much snow and I’ve wondered if that’s why your spring and summer were so dry, maybe?

I wanted to also say that we got winter here the same way, it was mild, mild, mild, and then all of a sudden it's cold. The trees look beautiful in your drone shots without the leaves, they look like clouds floating in the tops of the forrest .I personally love the rain and the snow, my favorite is actually about 40 and drizzly, but I very, very much love snow too!

:) I finally got the chance to swing back in and leave a comment for you. Your situation with the power out reminded me of a funny/scary/lonely time in my life. Which I survived and learned from. Back in 2011 I was living in a little house on the edge of a village. I'd been recently aloned. (if you know what I mean) But I was not alone. I had a cat named sidewinder (he had a skeletal abnormality from birth which caused him to walk side ways!) my little Emelia Airheart (pudgy lit chi) Maxwell Einstein (terrier) & one more kit named Mama. It was Christmas eve. We had a blizzard with feet of snow. The power went out, no heat or electric; and I was too chicken to drive. So, I got out the sleeping bags. lit candles, heated my supper on top of a candle holder haha, had some wonderful tea also by candle heat, wrapped up inside the bags with both doggos & read Jules Verne-20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by candlelight.

I make a big pan of soup, save two portions in the fridge and freeze 4 in separate bpa free bags (once it's cooled). That way it doesn't get old. Did you know that marigolds are a temple flower in India? They sell 'flower malas' (like an Hawiian lei) for offerings. A string of them would be so pretty in your cottage in the summer. What an AWESOME collection you found at Goodwill!! They look amazing on you! This "hot" girl spent 2 weeks in October traveling up the PCH starting in San Diego, up the Cali coast, then over to Crater Lake. We were there for their first snow this year!! My soul was SOO happy!!❤

Love the outfits!! So cute! One of the things I started doing a few years ago is buying a set of small containers that are individual meal size and when I make soup or stews I fill them with my left overs and use freezer tape on the top as a label and write what's inside. This way I have a frozen meal for another night when my husband is working nights or I don't want to cook.

We had to go do our weekly grocery shop, then we came home and made chili. It was perfect for the cold day. We also recently started watching Ghosts and it's so funny! I'm in a 4 season climate too and love each one. About in the middle of Autumn I'm ready to put the gardening (not the garden though) away until Spring. The soups, stews, transition into frequent teas. Baked stuffed acorn squash is a favorite of the hubs and mine. Apple, cinnamon, raisins, sometimes sausage. We each get a half. I'm ready for snow too.

I planted marigolds this year too. Just one plant has left me with many seeds for next year.i love only having to buy it once and have seeds for the year to come. Many pests do not like marigolds which is also a good selling point. You and Charlie stay warm. ❤

I suggest you get an electric heated throw and blanket or a heated mattress pad. It saves money on energy bills and is sooooo nice to get into a bed or the couch and have it toasty warm.
Have felt the same way about the weather this week (have had the same here) I Baked and did some chicken veg soup, as well. And have determined that I will be better freezing my big one pot meals I love so much....but yes, all week if I don't! Already have 2 one pot meals leftovers (ravioli with ragu and collards from my garden, and beef and egg noodles, yum) in the freezer and feel wonderful about it!

I was so excited about your thrift haul. It is a great feeling when you score but, to score big, as you did, is the best feeling.
Like your area, here in Eastern Ontario, it has been grey, rainy and extremely windy.
Soup, though, is just the solution, to get feeling warm and cozy.
In my two bedroom apartment, I have the electric fireplace on, with just the flames, to achieve the right ambiance. It works and, I am knitting leg warmers, while watching your video. You might want to consider making nice, chunky, leg warmers for your winter look. I like them with my long skirts, pants, leggings and long boots. Very, Boho chic! An idea I applied, while living in Montreal, to my office wardrobe, each day. Hand made are the best, though in, 2 plain, 2 purl!
Have you considered training Charlie to use Pee Pads?
My five pound, Chi, Rudy, who just turned three, went from a nervous nellie, to a confident, tiny, dog. He goes on his Pee Pad and outdoors! He, now, walks off leash and stays, always, to my left. I remember seeking advice from you, when I first brought him home, about a year, plus, ago. I am so proud of my little guy. He has fit into my quiet way of life, caring for my disabled hubby of fifty six years, beautifully.
Marigolds are a great deterrent to all manner of garden pests. I put mine in vegetable, flower and shrub beds. It did wonders.
In India, the marigold is treasured and, you will see Indians wearing Marigold garlands and in their hair. It has properties they embrace.

Here’s a tip: Freeze 1/3, or half, of your soup on the first day. That way when you defrost it, it will be fresh and last another 4 days without getting past the safety timeframe. That’s what I do and it is such a huge relief to have it when I am too busy to cook. I do this with a lot of my meal planning. I freeze 1/3 or half of soups and dishes that freeze well, like pasta bakes, etc. Have a lovely week, Kate. 🌺

Thank you for sharing part of your life with us. I love how you made the Free People dupes, I think I will have a go at doing that. Like you I adore their clothes however they are a bit pricey.
