I always love how Jim can erase and change the angle or position of his drawings at will, without having to go back and starting over. Incredible artist. My artist.
I kinda wished he used a kneaded eraser though. Like before the erasing I could hear the pencil/graphite scratching the paper was softer, but as he uses the eraser it scratches a bit more. It's fine though even if the gesture drawings or sketches are important, the inking that follows is what visually counts here.
And shows why Kim Jung Gi is also such a talented artist, can hyper visualize spaces and draw in one go, no mistakes, no need for erasing, and can do all sorts of perspective drawings and somehow make it all make visual sense. What a talent!😳
So great to see the whole process and not just the finished piece. It’s reassuring to see Jim change his mind, go back and rework a pose or composition. Thanks!
I watch many professional artists. Almost nobody does so much scribble and produce a piece that can be sold. Most make the pencil sketch before inking much tighter. What I learn from Mr. Lee is to stay as loose as possible. I need to always keep that in mind. Many pros including myself work become a little stiff when the details are added.
Dude, you are my hands down favorite comic illustrator!!! Thank you for allowing us to watch your creative process (mistakes and corrections included). True Legend!
Great to see Jim Lee’s X-Men card series from 1992 finally exploding... those were my favorite cards as a kid, particularly the Psylocke, Wolvie, Mystique and Omega Red!
Lee started his professional career at Marvel Comics where his work on the X-Men continues to hold the all-time sales record for single-issue sales at an incredible 8 million copies sold in one month.
He's looking at his references, and if you are trained at drawing after a model, you'll be taught to draw without looking down at the paper too much. With a good teacher, it's a skill that can be learned in about 3 months.
Jim, acompanho seu trabalho desde a adolescência. Sempre o vi como um artista espetacular. Agora, com seu canal vejo quanto incrível você é. Parabéns pelo excelente trabalho!!!!!!!
Sir thank you so much for replying at my last request. But I have one more, could you teach us how to make a background sketch for any character or human body. I mean could you make a tutorial video on the rough drawing which was in the first part of this video
Last Con I went to was SDCC. I've had to slow things down because I was spending too much money and I need to catch up on some bills. Good news is that I still have some great footage from that show that I need to edit and post. I'm thinking of going to a show in October but we'll see. Haven't heard from you in a while, man. How are things?
Love these youtube videos you make! As an comic book artist myself, It's very informative as I see how other artist work. When you get a chance, check out my TH-cam channel and let me know what you think. Been doing TH-cam for maybe a year where I uploaded tutorials and everything related to comics.
Don't want to sound like I'm complaining about the stream because I absolutely love watching Jim do his thing and look forward to the stream every Sunday....BUT. I wish he would go back to doing 3 or 4 quicker giveaway sketches and not spend the majority of the time doing an auction piece. The few regulars in the stream that can afford a 3K+ piece should just contact him and commission a drawing outside of Twitch. It's not really fair to the people that pay every month and had a chance to win a drawing get those chances cut down from 12-15 possible drawings to 4 or less depending on how many times he streams in a month. This is a great stream but it kinda feels like it's getting off the rails a bit and needs to go back to more of how it was when he started. Doing a poll about what to draw in discord the week leading up to the stream might be a good idea as well.
These are valid points but will probably go unnoticed here. I highly recommend signing up at discord.gg/jimlee and posting this same thing in the "suggestions" channel. Jim takes the time to read and consider everything there.
Cartoon that turn he did Batman series lol mouth and all scarecrow stare i have no idea crack us laughing like we were in his trans of us seeing delusional vibes

When the master says it's easy, and sketch it 5 times you know it's a tough one

I look forward to the day that Jim does his interiors inking himself in this more spontaneous ink style. I much prefer it. Beautiful work.

Maybe one day i'll be on this level but it damn sure aint today. Fantastic job as usual Jim. Love your work.

Great to see Jim Lee’s X-Men card series from 1992 finally exploding... those were my favorite cards as a kid, particularly the Psylocke, Wolvie, Mystique and Omega Red!
Thank you so much for sharing your process. I cannot state how helpful it has been for an aspiring artist.
Fantastic artists
Dont know why but the whiteout pen is so satisfying to watch....

This is frustrating. So many scribbles and looking away. Its like he's not even trying and just scribbling and then out of chaos comes a masterpiece!
a true master
decades of training.
Don't forget that they learned years and years for that.
David Leon that's a master artist for you. Scribbles turn to gold.

I've been a follower of his work since x-men 1
I am a little bit saddened by the 25 dislikes, those people either have bad vision or bad taste in art.
Amazing
Que hermoso trazo el de jim
Can someone tell me how high these bids for Jim's art usually go for?
Another masterpiece.
Any conventions lately Vic, or coming up? :D
