Hello Meg and Jon. Great to see you both on the job site once again. Meg, I had to look away a few times when I felt sure you were going to get waterproofing in your hair or clothes. That stuff can just ruin clothes. So cleaver to build that "funnel" out of old bits and pieces, Jon🤔. I understand your reasoning for not wanting to install French Drains (cost, time, non-percolating soil, waterproofed wall). You might be absolutely correct in this decision and not have a problem at all. On the other hand, you already have the location open, and have a drainage trench there. It will be so much easier to install now rather than dig it up later to fix a problem. You already have huge deposits of gravel on your property and the cost corrugated agricultural pipe to go around the structure would make for good insurance against any potential hydrostatic build-up down at your footings in the future. Cheers, EJ
your neighbor is pretty cool to clear out some more trees for y'all it was great to see meg on here it's great that she's able to work from home her job sounds pretty cool too the office/celler is coming along nicely I agree with the others about a half bath being in the building either in the office itself or down in the celler ~ a composting toilet would be a good idea
John, the funnel is a great idea for filling the blocks and filling the bucket to transport the concrete is very efficient. You have a fantastic neighbor who wants you to have a good view. Blessings to all of you.
That sure was nice of your neighbor! We're blessed with good neighbors as well -- they live fulltime below our property, but we're still part timers. No heavy equipment to take advantage of, but they do an awesome job of looking after things for us while we're away.
It's nice to see you guys again! I can tell you like the challenges. Meg... you seem exhausted. From our experience it is hard to have the full time job and try and get the work done that we have appointed for ourselves at the same time. I hope and pray you can find a way to manage this load you are bearing. Jon be sure you take care of your Meg. The view is really good after the mulcher!
Camera doesn't do justice, Bryce. It's such a wonderful difference. I plan on clearing the areas Gary couldn't get to by hand sooner than later so I'm only disturbing the area once.
It is so nice to see you again, as well as Meg. Sure have missed her working with you. And the kids look as thought they have grown so, so much. I really do wish you could get a weekly broadcast. When you are gone for so long, I really miss watching your progress. And with all of the snow you had, I am sure WE ALL missed a fantastic snow ball fight. LOL. Be Blessed, and be healthy.👍
I am always stoked when I see another video was posted. Getting things done in the winter months can be a challenge. It’s great to see you are still making progress. Great to see Meg again too! All the best to ya’ll!
@@WalnutsandWineberries Yep, it sure is. My goal is to cover every square inch of our property with either gravel, grass or mulch. No more muck up to the knees!
suggestion to add a dimpled outer cover that blocks moisture but also gives it a path to drain down how cold do you get may want to consider form insulation board on out side before adding veneer covering
Welcome back lt pink Meg, Virginia's only underground painter. Basements a speciality. Wiring too!! Great job with the pier/cores John. Exceptional outcome with the view as well.
Good idea on the gravity drain, gravity works even when the power is out. Also, when its time for the house, you might wanna look into fiberglass rebar, if you want to avoid any possible rusting.
Are controlled burns done in your state ? Will the stuff left behind from your neighbors help for you be a possible fire hazard later down the road ? Just curious as to your thoughts on that . I got to hand it to you John that you are such a well rounded person as to your talents in so many things ...
You are doing your forest a huge favor by clearing saplings. The ground will be much healthier being cleared. Keep as many USABLE trees as you can. Make firewood or lumber with the rest and groom your forest to constantly produce the trees you want. Great Progress!
had a house same situation did black tar like stuff then did 6 mil plastic then 2 inch foam boar then trench off to side to down slop and put in drainage tile with t fittings for down spouts this worked well befor celler used to flood badly because of the clay
Greetings from the BIG SKY. A lot of snow all around me now. February is a bleek month in Montana if you let it. After over 50 years of this, I ain't scared.
Put the wheelbarrow on a pallet, pick up both with pallet forks, and dump cement directly into your funnel. Saves on shoveling and bucket cleanup. Just another option.
I like that you do not shirk from having the right tool for the job. Megs are hard to find in the Big Sky. You look under a rock and you find a rattle snake.
there is a battery powered wheel barrow design for landscaper i believe it takes regular tool batteries its geared for hills etc giving that extra power while you steering be worth looking into
Meg!! Good to see you. 😊Nice paint job! Jon I think you’ve done an awesome job on that build so far. One question … may we borrow your neighbor & his cool contraption for our mountainside? 😆 What a view ya got there 😍
Oh man, you already released the funnel 5000? Man! I just bought the funnel 4000! What's the difference between the two, just the legs on the sides? Can I just add legs to mine and it will be a 5000?🤣
Forgive me for mentioning it, but you did say on filling the voids you were going to rod them, but never showed that operation....Can we safely assume that you did, but didn't manage to film it....Regards Robin...
"we moved here to get away from people...but I like these people" I love that! Good neighbors.

We decided to outfit a full bathroom so the structure can double as a guest house when the family wants to visit.

Another Meg sighting wonderful they come out in warm weather..
Hey there great work using the bucket on the loader. Nice to see Meg in it for a little. The D1 impressed
Wish I thought of it sooner! Good to hear from you, Robert!
Please put a bathroom in the office area. I think you will be sorry if you don't. Meg deserves it! Love you guys.
Hi Jan! Yes, there is a full bath so this can also double as a guest house.
VERY SMART! Was great to see Meg. Bet it's hard for her not to be more involved sometimes.@@WalnutsandWineberries

Very tough in the winter. I don't mind the cold. The mud is the biggest obstacle around the work site and getting up the driveway.

Your blocklayer didnt strike the joints. This helps to seal them.
Meg Your Hair looks Great 😎
I was just thinking about you all yesterday as I started my day. Glad to see you both again. More great progress!
Your concept of forestry is what I took with me when I enrolled in the UM school of Forestry in Missoula way back. They where into clear cuts.
Another great job John!

Salt of the Earth bro! I think the same of you. 😊
Brilliant! Didn’t even know you could attach that to a dozer.

You guys are doing good. It ain't easy, for sure. But the place is shaping up.

Every time I look at a cinder block I hope to learn somethine new. Today I discover that there's 2 different measurements to the holes.

A funnel 5000 looks good here.
Should get a mud mixer it’s easy to put close to job it could feed in to walls ?? 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
High slump!
Had it backwards, huh? I guess I was thinking the mound was low, so low slump. Whoops

Hi from the🇬🇧
You can get a Forestry mulcher for your skid steer.
Didnt realize it had been so long since we've seen Meg. Seems like her hair was short last time, Haha
You need it a lot wetter to go to bottom of hole
Forgive me for mentioning it, but you did say on filling the voids you were going to rod them, but never showed that operation....Can we safely assume that you did, but didn't manage to film it....Regards Robin...
Any walls above the ground does not need Reba or concrete
Why in heaven you didn't you render the block before you do the drylock
Not required according to drylock extreme instructions.
Time to lube the wheel on the wheelbarrow.
I am confused, where I come from a D1 is a shovel.
It shouldbe a lot wetter
