  • very awesome stuff. These are older digital xenon ones, sadly not laser or any newer, fancier, projectors.

    this is so cool?? is it all always automatically programmed? or is there anyone manually operating the projectors at any point?

      Everything runs automatically and digital upstairs but someone has to hook up the harddrives and schedule everything into the TMS (Theater Management System) properly. For special events, especially live ones, someone often has to run up to make sure the system runs it all without getting caught on something, but even they're mostly good once scheduled in. For IMAX specifically it needs to be turned on and off manually, and it's TMS stands alone/way more proprietary so someone has to actually create the schedule and etc correctly on it's specific terminal and shut it off at the end of the night, but it still runs almost entirely automatically.

    This is a LieMAX projector. LieMAX is anything bearing the IMAX name that doesn't deserve it. IMAX means Image Maximized, it means you're seeing an image that's large enough to fill your entire field of view, and detailed enough that you can't distinguish the individual film grains or pixels. The minimum digital resolution to achieve this is 8K, so until we get to that point, all "digital IMAX" is LieMAX. Legit IMAX projectors run 15-perf 70mm film, like this: th-cam.com/video/UmloukGl0J8/w-d-xo.html

      newer ones are 16K i believe. not sure about this (its mentioned as this is an older digital one)

      @@rahulk8736those ones shown in the video are 2k each. newer IMAX laser projectors are 4k in resolution. both the 2k and 4k projectors are digital, but the original IMAX projector (IMAX GT, SR, MPX and others) are film projectors capable of projecting IMAX 70mm 15 perforation film, which is roughly 16k in resolution.

      @@rahulk8736there are no 16K IMAX projectors, the new ones are 4K

    why is there a glass sort of thing in front on lenses ? why is it not allowed to go direct to screen ?

      I guess you’re referring to the polarization filters. They’re part of the 3D system and won’t be in use in case of a 2D presentation.

    Is there any way to connect my ps4 to this screen? i would love to play GoW Ragnarok on it

      I think its possible. I remember few years back my local cinema allows gaming session on it if you rent the whole space, during the covid times

    • @DumbLamia
      @DumbLamia  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unfortunately probably not lol (beyond the obvious). There's ways to connect to most projectors via hdmi (many chains sold private gaming party type things post-lockdown where you could hook whatever you wanted up (and really even just bring a laptop and play a movie off it lol)), but imax specifically has a ton of proprietary restrictions and blocks in their system to preserve its sanctity of something. Screening things in imax is only possible, afaik, if it's approved in imax's systems specifically
