    Seems like a lot of car for the money, and in that kind of condition too, I can see some people here don't agree though? as the guy said, he's not saying this IS the best car, he's asking a question, so it's a bit bloody rude to leave thumbs down on his video because you might not agree? it's a damn nice car, and at just over £2000 I think he did VERY well here! so give the guy a break eh ?

    I bought this car after seeing this video. 2014 model 1.6 CRDi diesel with 70,000 miles on the clock, and I've had it 7 months now with absolutely zero issues besides replacing the air conditioning condenser. Reliable, comfortable and economical. A great value car so far! It's comfortable to drive on long journeys and has all the technology I need without anything I don't want like Lane Keep Assist or any of those other farty features. Driving 10 mile round trip to work 5 days a week plus a few hours on the motorway each month, average between 50-60 mpg. Passengers have commented on how comfy it is, too. Thank you for the video!

      @@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes yeah, for me the only competition is an audi a3 sportback, ambition, 1.9 tdi, but its hard to find a cheap one that does not have 200.000km+ and is 15+ years old. models from 2006-2008 are somewhat in the same price range, but audis have quite a lot of mileage. but i heard that 1.9 tdi motors are beastly / immortal - they can go for quite a while if the car is serviced well..
      unfortunately, i also fell in love with the look of audi (i think they look the best, really dig the front grill) but i think this hyundai is much more suitable for a complete newb.
      im kinda torn between these two!
      what do you recommend? get an older, used audi a3, or a much more recent, lower mileage hyundai i30, which also looks quite decent?!

      @@tanko.reactions176 For me I would go for the i30, a lot more tech like Bluetooth, stop/start, LED lights etc etc, plus the high mileage Audi's will no doubt have issues with needing a new clutch if not already done, and suspension components, wear on the seats, they are also generally cambelts not chains, so got to keep up with them too, DMF on most Audi's too, big maintanance bills, so yes for me a more modern low mileage Hyundai every time :)

    Earlier this year we bought a 2014 i40 tourer 1.7 diesel for £3400 with 130,000 on the clock. It had a problem with the clutch pressure regulator (you can't do the sump plug trick on the i40) and clutch master cylinder. Had them changed for the newer improved parts direct from Hyundai, and we had Redline MT85 gearbox oil put in which really transformed the gearbox. It was an OK car once those things were done, but the electronic handbrake and autohold feature annoyed my dad too much. Plus bits of rust already appearing around the windscreen. Engine did have a tapping noise when cold. It was a nice looking estate car, was comfy and economical with a good engine. But the corrosion appearing, transmission issues made us get rid of it. Your better off buying an older REG car from a different manufacturer that isn't known for transmission issues.

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seems Hyundai still have some way to go on their i series cars then, the clutch issue was actually first noted on the MK1 i30, and carried over into the MK2 i30 by the looks of things, I've not heard of any corrosion issue's though? perhaps it depends where you live, as of course closer to the the ocean always means rust issue's. Thanks so much for your comments :)

    You say it's a "salvage" but you don't say what cat it is.. 105k miles with no service history a dodgy clutch & a "rumble" from the tyres with only the "reassurance" from the delivery driver that its all motorway miles!!! 🤔.. You seem to be obsessed with MPG but dismiss the apparently easy fix to the clutch and getting the tyres/tracking looked at... 2 things as a buyer id be MUCH more concerned about.. With all of the above plus the fact it has less than 6 months MOT I would hardly call it the "Best car under 3k"!!!

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Seems I forgot to menton this was a Cat N salvage car, although I imagine that would be pretty obvious from the parts that were replaced. The clutch is as you say an easy fix, and was done (very common) the rumble from the wheel turned out to be a wheel bearing.. which again was an easy fix, and was done after the video, and prior to sale. A 6 Month MOT with no advisories is more than adequate in my opinion? Sub £3000 for this car was and is a bargain when you consider the retail price for an non Cat car. This car is immaculate now and easy worth every penny of t's sale price. But I'm sorry if the video wasn't to your liking.

    • @seancarter8006
      @seancarter8006 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes... I'm glad you got the issues sorted even thou you stated in the video that you weren't going to bother! There's no way you can compare yr car with no service history, cat N, 105k miles to a non recorded car with average miles and service history being sold by Retail.. A fair comparison is another high mileage Cat N car being sold by a private seller... And the MOT is 5 & a half months with TWO advisories!

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@seancarter8006 Try to remember this car was £1800 less than a comparable non Cat car, so that's how I made my comparison Sean. and 105k miles is actually AVERAGE Mileage these days, not HIGH? I fixed the issue's as they were bothering me, and were cheap fixes. My video's tend to be created weeks (sometimes Months) prior to uploading, so also bear that in mind when mentioning time left on any MOT. One last thing to note, is the title of the video, this is formatted as a question, NOT a statement of fact. But again.... I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the content.

      @@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes “sub £3,000” is very close to the good fully working examples- I’ve just seen an identical 62 plate i30 blue drive active, with *full service history* and a full year of MOT for £3,290, with less (100,000 miles). It’s *not* a category right off, and only had 2 owners, both keys and from a dealership

      @@bandokaysauntie8666 So £1100 more than this One? The only White One the same as this I could find from a dealer...was £3400 with 125.000 Miles? so my price seems about right then? and I'll bet it wasn't immaculate like this One. Try to remember guys, I'm not saying this IS the best car for under £3000, I'm asking the question, and letting you know what I think of it, the fact is.... you can buy these at under £3000 (or far below £3000 in this case for a Cat N) so does this make it the best value option at this price point? that's for you to decide, but dis-liking the video because you donlt agree is a bit harsh don't you think?
