I think your mixing things up. There's alpha/beta/omega as pseudoscience terms in manosphere and redpill circles online, but what Elira is talking about is more closer to science fiction used in fanfic sites like AO3 that aren't related to the former

well, it tends to be kinda optional (I came across maybe one manga with it, though maybe it's more common in written works where you don't actually have to draw it and stare at reference pics 'xD)
knotting (+nesting) are pretty optional, some don't bother to add that in lol i personally prefer omegaverse stories that focus more on worldbuilding and deconstruction of the genre. the usual alpha/omega get kinda stale after a couple of stories imo.

Actually, omegaverse isn't a BL only genre. It's just that most of the stories about the omegaverse do contain BL. There are plenty of GL and heterosexual omegaverse fanfics that do exist they're just overshadowed by the vast amount of BL centered omegaverse fanfics.

I can see the appeal to sub/dom. It’s less intense than omegaverse because there’s generally no mpreg. It puts more emphasis on the dominance dynamic for people who are more into the SM genre.
As for psychics(espers)/guide, it’s basically like a fantasy or supernatural twist to the subgenre. There are also generally no mpreg included. It puts emphasis on abilities and their reliance on it.

Yeah I read a GL one that was heavy on regressive and dominant genes in it? No clue if that is normal in the omegaverse, but it was interesting enough for me to finish the story. Generally omegaverse stories feel a bit too r*y for my liking though.
GL is very underrepresented in omegaverse simply because futanari is already popular without the need of more world and organ complexity that came with omegaverse.
