Finally, the boat. When my family and I cruised on the AmaStella in December 2019 (precovid memories), we tried the the Chef's Table - not impressed, regular dining restaurant was better all-around. Hope your crew was as good as those we had. The tours do keep you scheduled and busy, but my son and I seemed to luck out and ended on several with just us and the tour guide. And there was free time, especially in Cologne where (again) my son and I climbed to the top of the cathedral. Very excited to see how your trip progresses. Merry Christmas to you and Marine Steve!
I had a reservation at Chef's table but wasn't enthused over the menu and cancelled. It was strange because Reception, etc., kept trying to talk me into trying the restaurant. Glad you had a good trip with AMA. I would use them again except they are so pricey! Belated Merry Christmas back at you. Any travel plans for 2022? 👍
@@SheilaSimkin Aah, plans. Looking at the same or similar that you are doing in this series. Or maybe the AMA cruise in South Africa, which is primarily on land. As for your remark on AMA being pricey, my cruise in 2019 was the first time for doing such, so I have no way to compare with other river cruise lines. Our TA recommended AMA based on their quality, but we also ended up with some nice discounts on the booking.
@@davidmccutcheon485 Ama was more money than let's say Viking, but it's hard to tell right now. We are, hopefully, leaving in 2 weeks on a Viking cruise, in and out of San Juan. Never know with everyone getting covid right now in the US... 🙀 but I went on line the other day and saw that Viking dropped their prices for this cruise, almost $1000 a person, with a cabin upgrade and air! TA called them and they gave us a credit! Didn't care about the cabin upgrade because most of their cabins are the same size unless you get to penthouse or suite level. So, who knows what all the companies are doing now.

@@EdwardConnors It is spreading through my family like wildfire! Have only been with one who has it now and counting the days.We've all been vaccinated but I guess it doesn't make any difference except for the lighter cases. Doing our best to stay safe...🙀
@@SheilaSimkin Cause statistically, this shot doesn't really help against much at all. I haven't been doing any of these safety things nor has anybody in my family and we have not faced any dangerous diseases for a while now.
A balcony cabin is slightly roomier and I think worth it in good weather. As I mentioned to Jonathan above, it was too cool out to actually sit and I just took pics occasionally from the balcony. 🥰
