It looked like most of the buildings ( beautiful by the way ) looked like their walls were clad with slate shingles. I have never seen this. I have seen walls of wood shake shingles and even worked on them, but never slate. If so, they should last a very long time.

It has good weather protection (cold, moisture, driving rain), good ventilation properties heating cost savings due to additional insulation effect, good ecological balance Resistance to soiling long service life. They are hardly ever used in modern architecture...
