The reason you can do this is because of "I-frames" and how long the window is on that. That's why you should dodge towards his boulders because if you have a higher chance of running out of I-frames while being in that attack.
@aokyoutsuki7744 Well, I think I-frames are a general concept with a lot of value in KH. People don't realize you can use curaga and aerial recovery to eat attacks.
