      Depends if its a "I'm 18, tattoo time with some weird object, yet I can't afford $800 tattoo thats large and amazing so I'll get the large and somewhat good tattoo that just looks weird and makes people wonder who in the world thought a kangaroo looked amazing." or "I'm drunk AF, I'm getting a tattoo" kind of person. If a young person made it a impulsive decision, you'd probably see them in the surgeon's shop. Yet, if it was someone who actually thought about and put it to something like in @Larissa Alcorn kind of situation, they wouldn't decide to do something such as removing a tattoo that has purpose and means something to them.

      @matheushemerly2244 6 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      He's probably using a 1000x magnification. Most microscopes magnify 10x from the opticals, and I think he's using the 100x lens, do it ads up to 1000x. A lot of people will mistake 100x for the 1000x because they only read what's in the lens. Most microscopes have the 10, 40 and 100 lens to choose from, and since blood films don't have the tissue architecture compound to analyse, you magnify to the most you can to actually look at the cell level. But if you can get your hands on a 400x it's still perfectly good !

    Sometimes things are more interesting when you understand them on a deeper level. Laser Tattoo Removal for instance is basically deciding that you no longer want your tattoo so you want to help your body poop it out using incredibly complicated optomechanical phenomena. Wow... there's a sentence I never thought I'd type. I hope you enjoy the video.

    So just as a clarification - Getting a tattoo is basically intentionally giving yourself an infection that your body's immune system will always be fighting...FOREVER?
    Wouldn't that reduces the overall effectiveness of a person's immune system? Are people with large tattoos more susceptible to infectious diseases?

    • @erikhakansson591
      @erikhakansson591 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      In one way the immune system is "trained" which keeps it alert, just like training your body helps the immun system. Could be very wrong, though

    • @hikerwolfspaine8200
      @hikerwolfspaine8200 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      fozzibab I think there are a lot of things that make you susceptible to disease but considering that your body is already working 24/7 I wouldn't bet on it taking to much of the bodies time up. I think things like vaccines excite your immune system more than surface layer ink. There are also not a lot of large veins around the skin which I take as meaning that even if the body wanted to it couldn't send a lot of white blood cells at a time. As for sending lead through you immune system it may be an increase but I don't feel that it would be that detrimental to your health(long term effects are always possible) unless you are going through tattoo removal in which case a lot of harmful chemicals are being taken through your immune system.

    • @MetallF
      @MetallF 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fozzibab Maybe, maybe you are just making your immune system a little bit more alert with every tattoo by pumping up more white cells, so more tattoos = a tiny bit more efficient immune system ? Anyways I love my tats :)

    • @paulwebb2078
      @paulwebb2078 9 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      MetallF Yeah, but if all those white blood cells are focusing on your tattoo, I dunno how effective they'll be when an actual threat comes by. It would be interesting seeing a study about this somewhere, comparing the immune systems of people with tats/without tats.

    • @KingHalbatorix
      @KingHalbatorix 9 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Sean Fronteras the difference is likely negligible to nonexistent, as someone earlier said the area of skin that gets the tattoo doesn't receive a lot of blood flow, and additionally the number of white blood cells that could possibly be concerned with fighting the tattoo is miniscule in comparison to the number in the human body. Remember, there are white blood cells all throughout your body, from the innermost parts of your torso to your fingertips. Most of the blood in a body isn't near the skin. Also, judging by the fact that a tattoo stops swelling and being irritated within days of application, I think it's somewhat safe to assume that the body simply acclimates to it, or at the very least stops attacking it vigorously.

    Best advice I've ever heard about getting a tattoo:
    1. Decide on a design and a place on your body to get a tattoo.
    2. Wait a year.
    3. Decide whether or not you think it's still a good idea.
    4. If yes, get the tattoo. If no, don't get the tattoo.
    I have one tattoo on my leg, and I've had it for five and a half years. Never regretted getting it. I still love it today.

    If all the laser does is shatter the pigment particles, then this would predict that there would be little visible effect at first and that the tattoo would fade over the weeks following the laser treatment, but what we saw was an instant fading of the tattoo.

    • @fuckoffjesus
      @fuckoffjesus 4 ปีที่แล้ว +215

      The laser breaks the ink into very small particles. Since they’re are small and so spread out we cant see defined lines. The ink is now extremely spread so much you cant see it(or assmall darkened areas).Over time the liver filters out the small bits removing it from the body. The longer you live the less you’ll see.

    • @sir_pezington1914
      @sir_pezington1914 3 ปีที่แล้ว +100

      Hey Lindy, did not expect to see you in the comments here.
      The visable effect you see as a reaction to the laser treatment is damage to the skin, not the tattoo fading. The lazer 'shatters' the ink particles by rapidly heating them to very high temperatures.
      I haven't had and removal done, but my tattoo artist also does removals. His machine has a air hose fitted to keep the skin as cool as possible during the procedure.
      Also unlike getting the tattoo, removal takes many visits over a long period of time, some results may be seen on the first treatment, but depending on the pigments and their depth many rounds of removal may be needed!

    P.s. A word to those who are strongly against tattoos: Everyone is born with choices, no need to despise someone because they chose to put artwork on "their" body. Tattoos have been around for hundreds and hundreds of years. The only difference between someone with tattoos and someone without? A tattooed individual doesn't care what your skin looks like.
    Don't hate me for the color(s) of my skin:)

    • @GraveUypo
      @GraveUypo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah it's a bit more complicated than that. people do care if you wear a tatoo, specially in more formal enviroments. you're not gonna be taken seriously. you're basically handicapping yourself in exchange for some ugly (let's face it, the vast majority of tattos aren't pretty) doodling on your skin. i'm not strongly against it (as long as you don't cover yourself on them), but i would NEVER make one.

      ***** I'm sorry you feel that way. Us with tattoos aren't taken seriously because of people with views like yours. The ink on my body doesn't slow my work ethic or get in my way. My tattoos are memorials to me, I could care less if you think they're ugly...

      RustyWolfFX To those of us a bit older, tattoos were rarely seen on regular people. Sailors and soldiers got them, and people who had been in jail. Now they are 'fashionable', which isn't really a valid reason to get such a long lasting thing done. Like it or not, people are suspicious of tattoos, from the jail tat, to self absorbed millennials who think they live in a consequence free environment. You don't, you knew society has an opinion about tattoos, and chose to get one. Society isn't going to change to make your life easier.

    • @seigeengine
      @seigeengine 9 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      engineeredlifeform No, but society will change because they're becoming increasingly normal, and as they become increasingly normal people with tattoos and people who are comfortable with them are attaining higher and higher positions of power within the professional world.

      I don’t know if this is the right answer because I admit that I know practically nothing on this topic, but I’ll put in my two cents. If you think about it, this is a very minimal amount of metal and as such, should have a very minimal strain on one’s liver. I would assume that this doesn’t have much risk as it’s such a minuscule amount of heavy metals.

      ***** I looked at this and I can't find this Jason Carter Tattooist any where, he supposed to be the tattooist that wrote this book. As for the product, some of the adverts for it are written in
      very broken English, even the book 'get rid of tattoo' sounds like
      broken English. This leads me to believe this is some kind of scam. I
      tried to find photos or videos of people that had before/after shots.
      There are videos with compilations of photos but I know for a fact that
      some of the people in said video have had their tattoos removed by
      laser. This further leads me to believe this is a scam. I also checked
      loads of videos that were connected with tattoo removal and there are
      numerous people suggesting this site, go and see for your self. Another interesting fact is everyone promoting this books site, even Stanley Hagen, only opened a TH-cam account yesterday. This book has 'SCAM' written all over it.

    • @Niosus
      @Niosus 9 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      modisp So I'm not sure about this, but it is most likely safe. Those heavy elements are bound to other elements to form molecules. As long as that bond is strong enough so your body can't split it up, you should be able to excrete that molecule as a whole. Heavy metals are dangerous because our body has a hard time getting it out of the bloodstream and other places. The extra elements in the molecule can act like "handlebars" so it can easily get disposed of. That's also how the drugs that are supposed to get heavy metals out of your system work.
      But still. No thanks to tats...

      If you eat fish you are ingesting mercury. If you eat beef you ingest copper. If you eat most meats you are eating some kind of heavy metal. Same for some plants depending on how they are grown and where they are grown. Despite common belief we do need some heavy metals in our body and our body has ways to use it when consumed through the mouth. Now as someone with tattoos myself. I haven't had any infection or any health problem from a tattoo. I have a half back tattoo. Now keep in mind. You don't want to go in and find out you are allergic to zinc as you have gone most of your life without ever touching the stuff.
      Generally that is the worst that tattoos have done to people... allergic reactions.

      Additionally... does laser removal bombard your body (liver) with a sudden dose of heavy metals? In other words, are you safer/better off not doing large removal sessions at once?

      BLUEROCK Interesting concept to think about. The heavy metals might be removed from your skin, but at the same time, would be brought to the liver, which might get overwhelmed. I think that these sessions happen in different periods of time, as in you would get some of it removed, wait a while, then get more of it removed, as to not only not damage the tissue, but also your liver as well.

      No, you're not going to poison yourself by getting a lot of tats simply because that ink, as explained stays beneath your skin and your body removes it so incredibly slowly (the fading) that you're not going to get any kind of ill-effects from it. As for the risk of removing the tattoos, there is some but that is mitigated by the fact that they do tattoo removal in multiple sessions instead of all at once. It gives the body time to process and recover.

    Since your white blood cells are trying to take away the ink constantly. Does this mean that getting a tattoo weakens your immune system?

    • @SlowSlowSloth
      @SlowSlowSloth 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No.

    • @tron-8140

      Craig Duffy It could be argued that a tattoo might strengthen you immune system. An immune system that isnt used would weaken over time. Just like how being a germophobe and disingecting everything can actually cause you to become more sensitive to germs. If your body's systems dont get used, your body reduces those systems and uses them less.

      Zeke Aeloen Your body produces antibodies for germs. That's why you strengthen your immune system through vaccination. That's not what happens with tattoo inks. Here you're only stressing it for no reason.

      That's a very good question actually! I'd hope Destin could see this and help us out with it more. Anyone else want to know this?

    • @SlowSlowSloth
      @SlowSlowSloth 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ErebosGR It's hardly stressing it, and even if it was, it wouldn't be bad for you.
      Millions and millions of people have tattoos all over the world and I have never heard anything about it weakening their immune-system.

    A few years ago I listened to The Martian while parked along side the Moree Solar Farm in Australia. The area is rough redish gravel. It feels like there's no one else for miles. A storm came in and the wind over the panels made an eerie howling sound. It was the certainly the most immersive reading experience I've ever had. I highly recommend it
