I need help... I live in PHX AZ, It's been 110° all week! The water is boiling hot 🔥 fire! I don't have any cold water. Not even at night! It's really hot even in the cold settings or my shower! What's the issue? Thx!
Hi There, The water lines coming into your home may being affected by the extreme heat. If you turn on the cold tap and the water is warm, that what’s coming from the municipal water service. Hope this helps!
The blinking light means the pilot is lit and if you have a 40 gallon water heater it could take about 3 hours for it to get to temperature. Hope this was helpful!
I would not set it at the "low" setting as that normally equates to a water temperature of 90 to 100 degrees. At "Hot", which is 120F is the safety recommended temp against scalding. Most experts agree that anything below 120 degrees creates a risk for bacteria t develop inside your water heater from stagnant water.
The dial on my water heater is similar to the video so just turn the dial to the desired temp. No turning off power is needed. I checked like 20 videos on this same issue because I just installed a brand new unit and wanted to know and none of the videos suggested to turn power off. Also the lower the temp. the lower your utility bill also. So keep that in mind.
To answer your second question - the answer is "yes", the hotter your temperature setting and it will seem like you have more hot water for longer. Very good question! The reason it seems like you have hot water for longer is because the burners will come on "more frequently" to maintain the "hotter" temperature setting. The down side is that it will cost more because the burners will need to "come on" more frequently. Also, you must make sure that in the hotter setting that it isn't scalding hot.
Thanks for the video! The Temperature is pretty good on my water heater (eventually) but the hot water takes FOREVER to get to my sinks and showers. My house isn't HUGE at only 1400 SQ FT. It's a ranch with a basement where the water heater resides. Will increasing the temp of my water heater increase the speed of hot water to those areas? It's currently set to Hot and looks EXACTLY like the controls you shared in this video. My Water Heater is a "Performance Rheem" that was here when I bought the house in 2018. Thanks!
Increasing the temp will only increase your energy cost. You need a hot water return line that can either be installed by a plumber using gravity. Or you can have them install a Watts pump on the water heater and a bypass valve at the furthest sink. That too will increase the cost to heat the water but you will get hot water almost instantly, We hope this answer was helpful!
Hi There, If you want the water to be hot then turn the dial to the recommended setting that is typically 120 degrees. The timing will depend on the water tank type. Hope this helps!
Does this take a lot of energy? Because ever since my apartment complex gave me this device on my water heater my PGE bill is $280-$380 😡 please help! 😩
Hi Mercedes, Adjusting the temperature down could lower the energy used by the water heater. It would vary based on the size and age of your tank on how much energy is being expelled to heating it up.
Hi There, It takes at least 12 hours to adjust if it still does not get to the desire temp then your gas valve/ thermostat may be faulty. Hope this was the case for you!
Hi There, Generally, A means 120 degrees, B means 130 degrees, and C means 140 degrees. You'll want to look at your water heater's manual to confirm these settings.
This 2 yr old video helped me so much! Thank you!!!!!
Glad it helped!
@@AceHardware same! thank you!
Thank you ! That answered my question.

How long does it usually take for the temperature to adjust after lowering it on a 50 gallon tank?
Hi There,
It depends on how much hot water you use. If you take a 10 minute shower, the new temp should be reached. Hope this helps!
Whats the status mean if its blue. And how long after resting does it take to warm back up
The blinking light means the pilot is lit and if you have a 40 gallon water heater it could take about 3 hours for it to get to temperature. Hope this was helpful!
Thank you for explaining what the vac stands for . Going away for few months I like to turn it for that
Glad it was helpful!
Do you advise to never have the dial at the LOW mark?
I do not. If that’s hot enough for you then go for it. Typically most like the water to be at 120 degrees and then adjust from there. Hope this helps!
I use LOW when I leave on vacation. (Mine doesn't have a vacation mode!)

1. Do I need to turn off the power to heater before adjusting the heat?
2. Will the hot water last longer in the shower with hotter temps?

Also my home was bult in 1996 so it's NOT really old!
Working with Lou to get an answer for you! Sit tight :)

Thank you for helping me to figure this out!
You’re welcome! Let us know if you have any more questions.
So i just got this installed bit it was on pilot and my water wasnt barely warm, will vacation mode fix it? How long does it take the water to adjust?

Do i need to turn my water off to adjust the temperature
Hi There,
You do not need to turn off the water to adjust the temperature.
We're having freezing temperatures. Our cold water runs fine but no hot water. What would be the issue?
Hi Kevin,
When temps are really cold you need to trickle the cold and the hot. Those pipes may be frozen.
It might just be recent rate hikes, which hav been astronomical.
Just replaced my water heater but I tried all the temp … it’s going from hot to cold…. No in between … what am I doing wrong?
Hi There,
It takes at least 12 hours to adjust if it still does not get to the desire temp then your gas valve/ thermostat may be faulty. Hope this was the case for you!
Whats a b c for
Hi There,
Generally, A means 120 degrees, B means 130 degrees, and C means 140 degrees. You'll want to look at your water heater's manual to confirm these settings.
Just replaced and turned it to inbetween B and C. No change in temps even after 2.5 hours
So he’s basically saying to keep it on vacation mode all the time?
Worthless video. Did not describe the difference between HOT, A, B, C which is what I'm looking for.
