- I went' out the other day just to have a afternoon on the water, my camera always goes on the boat with me. We rolled up on a few ramps just to see from the boaters perspective, I finish the video with my wife backing down the trailer and I trailering the boat. Enjoy. Its a little rougher than our normal video's but it was fun.

She did better than most people do backing up the trailer. Awesome job
You and your wife did an excellent job loading the boat.😊
She backed that trailer like a Pro! Good job.
I'm not going to tell you guys you did a good job. You guys simply did it the way it's suppose to be done 👏👏👏
@@TheBigDanShow if more people could do just an average recovery, the ramps would run a lot smoother.
Nice to see a video of you finally landing your boat....a very nice boat by the way
All 3 of you did great! This brings back so many memories of being with my dad! I remember him letting me back the trailer down for the first time and giving me instructions. He was so good.... I miss him so much!
Mate your wife was spot on great skills when my wife was alive she was the same. 😊
Dan "Full throttle, all the way"
Wife "I'm not comfortable with that"
Gonna have to agree with wife on that one. 😝
Ya'll did great, Thanks for the videos. Go Sox!
Best boat ramp show on TH-cam. 😎
Good job. Grew working on Uncles’ farm every summer. Had to back a lot of trailers, of all shapes and sizes. When I was 13 or so, was making one of my earlier attempts and struggling a little. My uncle made the comment that “you steer the trailer, with the back bumper of your truck.” Next try, it clicked. It’s like pushing a wheel barrow. You steer with your hands on the handles. You steer with the bumper. No probs from then on. If you know how to back up a truck, you don’t even need to think about what to do with the steering wheel. So just steer the trailer, with the hitch…Don’t even think about the truck…Just turn the bumper.
She did awesome putting the trailer in the water!
Your wife did a great job and that's how I do my trailer also
You did great driving the boat to the dock with no steering use. She did great backing the trailer up. The only bad part was her tacking up the middle of a two boat launch. Yes I realize it was very slow at the time but still. I dont care how busy it is I stay in my lane cause you never know if people will pull up and who knows if you might have had some problem with your boat and ended up being there longer than planned. We also pull way down out of the way to get squared away once we leave the water, good job on that as well.
Good job backing the trailer, it's amazing how many people just can't get that
She did good. A tip is to turn the opposite way just before stopping going forward. It puts the trailer closer to the correct angle for backing.
One thing I can't understand is why everybody loads in the middle of the ramp between docks. I bring my 26' cruiser up against the dock (preferably with wind and/or current pushing me toward the dock). I pull the trailer in as close as I can and still open the door to my truck; a slight angle of the truck works well. I find it's safer overall to just lead the boat (NOT under power) to the trailer and winch it up. While it may work for some to power up, some ramps prohibit it and some boats don't afford the best visibility (those with high freeboards).
Great job... at anytime even the best captain can find themselves in trouble I learned with twin inboards , two throttles ,two transmission levers … my teacher said don't forget neutral. I do miss having twin inboards .
Very true!
Now that's how an expert does it thanks for showing how it's done cheers mate Terry in Australia 😊
Yes, she's a professional at that. Great job handling the trailer.
Between the two of you that's called team work, she did a great job and you did almost a great job lol. The stories I could tell you would make you laugh. God bless and as always be safe.
Nice job on the back up by the wife. I do the same wet the bunks and then pull up and load the boat.
Most excellent, Mrs. Big Dan! You da lady!!
Teamwork... OUTSTANDING !
Great job, both of you. I am not good at backing up. Madeline I am super impressed! Thank you for sharing another great video!
Good job. Most of the time I am launching and recovering by myself. My wife and my daughter do not know how to back the trailer or drive the boat. So I have to do both. I bought a Boat2trailer set up. It makes it easier just to drive up, lock it in, and pull the truck out.
FYI: I have never heard in any of these videos--when stowing onto trailer #ONE RULE..ALWAYS STEER INTO THE WIND OR CURRENT (which one is most prevalent) NEVER WITH CURRENT/WIND…for the obvious! Should be able to launch/trailer SOLO…if a Second person is available… By all means utilize that person’s assistance. From deep SOUTH LOUISIANA 😀 ***PS: here most parking areas have shells/rock filling in the parking areas… Always a good idea to back your trailer DEEP-PULL UP TWICE back-and-forth to remove any dust due to the fact after numerous launches- (if not washed off)- the dust will act like sandpaper on the gel coat of the boat’s hull! Another tip: right after initially launching/parking-run a line/bead of liquid dish detergent on each bunk…easy off/on--BUT when launching never remover the tow-strap/cable UNTIL trailer tires touch waters’ edge!!! JUST SAYIN’… JOHN
Great job people some people should take notes
Great job your wife did ! Mine does a good job backing our boat up too ! Enjoyed the video once again! Stay safe
Very impressed with your wife's ability to backup a trailer. I see why you need to have her hook on for you. That big deep V boat hooks-on way down below the lip of the boat. That makes it hard to reach from above. With my boat I'm able to drive up the trailer and, with engine in forward throttle, I hook and winch myself on in a few seconds. My wife never gets out of the truck. We have made it a stress free experience launching and trailering our boats for 15 years. Now my son, (Like Yours) and I enjoy doing it when we are together. Mom gets a break now. lol. you might be able to see my little boat on my channel. 220SS Chaparral. I sold it a week ago. I'm looking to get a center console like yours but I don't think I can afford the twin engines. I enjoy the show, keep up the good work!! Also my wife and I enjoy The Wharf when we are down. We stay by Willet Point when we are in Gulf Shores.
Great job...your wife backed that trailer like a Pro!!!
Enjoy your videos...
Rule of Thumb: When backing your boat trailer into the water.
Loading your boat, back your trailer into the water leaving the boat trailer fenders slightly above the water and/or two to three feet of the front of your bunks out off the water, most folks back too far into the water, (if your fenders are under water you are in too far) causing all kinds of problems. Remember, 99% of all problems are the result of being in too deep. Simply drive your boat onto the trailer, if you are slightly off center, it will usually self-correct when it slides up the bunks. You may have to goose it slightly to get it all the way on the trailer. Have your partner connect the cable or strap to the front and winch it tight, install the safety chain and now pull the boat and trailer out of the water. Find a safe place away from the ramp traffic to stop and unload your boat and make it ready to travel down the road. Safe boating!
Thanks my friend
Great job
Small word of advice have youshift linkages adjusted before you eat the gears up in your lower units just trying to keep you from having a very expensive catastrophe
I am now convinced that there are a lot of people out there that do not no the first thing about boat control when putting their boat on and off their trailer. Kudos to you guys on how it is to achieve a simple exercise, its not that hard or rocket science. Some of the idiots will never work it out as long as their arse points to the ground.
Change the batteries in that fire alarm is all i kept thinking 😂
Definitely a ski but normally on on key up like most outboards do. That one's been forgotten to be keyed on one to many times so the mechanic wired it on loop to help remind the operator.
Hey Dan, I 'm just droppin' by and sayin' hi!
Just so you know...
The one video you had where the guy slide off to the left side of the trailer. That was when the boats Propeller chewed off the end of ...
I think you called it a. Pipe or Tube.
Just in speaking, those are known as "Guide Ons."
Just being a friend! 😊 😁
Thanks friend
mama bear is stronk!
No one likes a show-off LOL. Great job by both of you
Lol
Thanks
Awesome teamwork from the whole family. Great job backing up the trailer Madeline. Also Dan this was a good video on how to load a boat correctly.
Well Hello there Wifey, cute quick cameo🤘, the sound of the water gently hitting the boat ,man that’s just AWSM,as for the others 🙄🙄😂😂,now to finish & A Big Dan TY Sir👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻💕from Fla.😎
Great job. now that's teamwork.
Great job. It's good to wet the bunks first like you guys did. I have a Drotto latch and stairs on our 20' trailer. Works great. We have a 20' Aluminum SeaArk Easy 200 and a 16' Lowe Big Jon. We fish year-round here in Kansas. It's good cold weather etiquette to let your trailer drain at waters edge before pulling up the ramp so ice won't form on the ramp. There's always a dufuss that doesn't understand that. 😄 No need to worry about ice in your climate. The wife and I love watching your channel! Have fun and be safe. 👍👍
Nicely done.
Thanks!
Momma Dan did just fine!!
Good job
Great job Dan & Madeline & your son, (sorry I don’t know your name 👋). Reminds me of many happy days years ago of the teamwork out on the coastal waters with my father-in-law and my stepsons bringing our sailing boat in and anchoring off-shore and tying off on bouys in North Wales 🏴. Only wish I’d learned more then of boat terminology and tides etcetera so that I had quicker reactions and would have been less of a liability! It’s a whole different language once you’re out on the water and seeing you steering with the throttles and leaving the helm alone makes me think I wish folk (who don’t have the benefit of familial or friendship support) would get some proper training before they step out on the beautiful waterways. Jx
Cape Cod, Massachusetts waving hand😊
You Have Busted That Age Old Myth: Those Who Can, do. Those Who Can't, teach. You Should Show What Happens When You Trim All the Way Up as You're Landing it on The Trailer. A Big no no! You All Did Great by The Way!!!
Well done. Looks like you have a Sailfish. I almost got one but went with a Hydra-Sports instead.
Your trailer bunks are set up similar to mine. Sometimes when I'm in the situation you were loading your boat, I trim my twins up as much as I can to help raise the bow and slide up the trailer. That's also depending on the angle of the ramp. Thought I would share that tip. Also has less ramp wash.
Great video Capt.
I was expecting the guy in the round inflatable to join the show and try and trailer that thing 😂 Also loving the jersey!
You guys got your shit together way to go
AND... THAT is HOW you do it. Back in To deep to wet the bunks.... Then pull up to your mark. Your mark may very on different ramps. :)
Stressful to watch!
You must be a Monday morning football coach. If not you need to be, would make a very good one.
😂
You critique folks in a good way, sometimes teaching. I watch other creators at ramps. Some are mean and use off color language, some are boring and some are just over the top crazy. I prefer the way you present your videos.
If you’re going to critique people and their loading, you should be able to put your self out there! I am impressed with your Wife’s ability to drive, and back up a truck! You all did a very good job! Looking forward to the how to video! Thank you again for the video!!!
Side note I like you even more knowing you drive a Ram!!!
20:14 I like how the sign says "pressure warning" when you film her waiting to back up the trailer. Wonder if she felt the pressure.
Yes the Lady backing down was ok, I did think she was going to pull forward to straighten and be closer to left had dock, not being in center of area..
Camera angle maybe at play..
A Pat on the back to the team.
Here NEW ZEALAND, a beach slipway, rocks very close alongside, surf often 3/ 4 foot, and by myself.
Much smaller boat but if one wants to go fishing then we do whats needed..
Cheers,
The Lady did very well.
You have twin outboards and handle the setup well from what I saw.
Kaikoura where I used to fish Alloy boats is the Normal due to the rocks, and surf / wave action.
No overnight mooring, one wide public slip, concrete 3 wide, so the Game is always On.
Cheers.
Tight lines.
Wear a life jacket etc.
Big Dan I can’t be sure but you must check up on your competition and Captain Crunch sure isn’t one. That guy is a total jerk he doesn’t try to make friends but enemies the way he treats people that could be subscribers if he treated them half decent. It’s as if he is trying to start confrontations with people hoping he can get a big one going so he can post it. The only thing in my opinion saving his butt is the camera that would film somebody beating his ass. He is so obnoxious at times and o stuck on himself everyone else is wrong and he is always right. Thank heavens your not one bit like he is while your making friends helping people that your going to be around time to time he is making enemies.
Keep up the good videos and continue to help others. Cheers and Thanks
That dude had his plug out or something the auto bilge kept kicking on
Nice shirt. ;)
Glad it wasn’t a crop top, RedSox beat the Yankees again. ;)
If they are properly adjusted you WILL NOT grind them
Some bump will strain out
👍👍
Your wife is badass
The old lady did good.
i wear long sleeves, even in the summer, because i'm allergic to sunscreen. So I can understand the dude at 9:55 a bit.
Being hot is preferable to the burn and etc.
Alrighty El-Captain, you're a pretty sharp editor so you could make 1 try work out...OR ya could b/c you are good, either or? People get better with practice but
teaching them to get the boat off the ramp is important. Opening it up for others & you can button up the boat/trailer on the lot before ya hit the road. So many
don't seem to understand that you pull over & get things ready, THEN launch; On the return, get out the water & pull over to put everything away. Doing all that
on the launch takes away time from other boaters so don't be so inconsiderate & greedy ! When everyone does this things are so smooth & Happy. peace
Both y'all did a good job, made it look like you should. Thanks for sharing.🍔🍔🍔🍟🍟🍟time for lunch.
some people just don't realize when you sink them trailers it makes it hard to load..
Big Dan. Love your videos. Nice job today. What kind of boat do you have?
Good work, but you're gonna damage the gears pretty quickly in your lower unit by shifting it back and forth like that. Rip Twinzy's..
The sound of schifting mercury rrrrrrrrrr
The wife did an awesome job!! You on the otherhand was wearing out two gearcases is what I see lol, what's wrong with simply turning the wheel?
@@TheBigDanShowLoL it's all good my man, I appreciate the content, thanks for sharing 👍
I'll shoot a video of me loading the 35ft twinvee next time I run it
Landscaping guy needs to phone a friend.
👍👀👻
Now really impress us and do it drunk like most of the other boneheads 🤭 Excellent job Mr & Mrs Dan, never had a doubt.
On the other hand...as a lifelong STL Cardinals fan, all I have to say is...Red Sox? Seriously? 🤬😂 #2004 #2013
HTF do you get a trailer to float?
WOT 😂
Many troubles, many mistakes. Many mistakes likely to be made again…Because you get more likes, for watching, recording, and sarcastic mockery, than for helping more of them out, and in the process, they’d learn something and more likely not do it again.
I mean I get it. It’s entertaining. It’s like sitting around the skating rink, watching people fall on their ass.
Everyone did great. The only suggestion I have is your wife didn’t back up until the tailpipe was gurgling. When you hear that gurgling noise you know you’re in just right.
"No editing", right before he edits. lol
let's hope his dirt working skills are better than his boat caption skills
To bad she couldn't hug one side. She told up both lanes 😢
What boat ramp is this?
When will be the Jeep ladies from the last video
@@TheBigDanShowthank you
Color me unimpressed. Want a real critique? Wife is wonderful, but not the best trailer backer, she was crooked and down the middle taking up the whole ramp. After you guys got it on the trailer it seemed to take forever to winch it home. The trailer bunks either need adjusting or you should add some bunk slicks, they work great. Also if you keep slamming those Yamaha's back and forth from forward to reverse you will need new gear cases. Better to use the steering wheel a little more and save those gear cases. Cell phones on speaker setting work wonderfully for communication with the trailer backer, that way you get the exact depth you want, so you won't be #in too deep.
Why didn't you offer to help just askin
You have to wonder about what's in the minds of people who own boats or any watercraft anymore. You can't call them captains because a captain is supposed to know the running of a boat and waterways. These people who miscalculate the operation of watercraft are rude, inconsiderate, stupid, and some of the worst horse is asses I have ever seen, and some women too. And you know, it keeps getting worse!!! By the way Dan, you have a great show!!!!
You criticize others freely, but you have lots of room for improvement yourself!
do these people even look around to see others loading with E A S E .. totally ridiculous eh
Like a mule with tunnel vision
being the 'dirt wizard has nothing to do with 'seamanship .. eh
Lol
I think You could Yours in Backward and do better then some of these People on your Video's !!! Just Sayin !!!
Don’t these people know that almost all these boats are self centering? Drive it down the damn road and let it bounce a little and it’ll center right up.
Bruh yall did some flaws as well. Got in the sand/mud. Wife took up the whole ramp. For a channel that makes fun of everybody. You didnt do a stellar job.
@@TheBigDanShow just shows loading boats is not a easy seamless process everytime no matter the experience.
I think you should rename your channel to "in too deep."
Seems like a common theme w all these southern boaters 😂
😂😂
In too deep and to STUPID to figure it out 😏
👍👍
