      @@flattiredan56 The windshield is a game changer for older folks like us that have been cruising on jet skis for 30 years and are tired of the salt spray in your eyes and the wind fatigue from riding long distances…and the storage is pretty epic also!

    I've got the 2021 GTX 170 and love it. I ride with someone that has the Yamaha 1800R and this uses much, much, much less fuel. Not as fast or maneuverable as the 1800R, but much more efficient and much smoother on choppy water. I prefer the quality of ride and not worried about the 180s. This is my third and my favorite. It maxes out about 57 or so, plenty fast for me since I spend of my rides around 35-40. The cleats are cool but would be much more usable if the equipment from Seadoo was no soooooooo expensive.

    I have the GTX 230/2021-120 hours which I ride on a larger body of water (Narragansett Bay/Rhode Island Sound). In retrospect I would have purchased the 170. Top speed is crazy at 64mph and 57 would have been more than enough for me. As for the gas (87), if you put cruise at or below 40 it gets great gas milage. I have done a 70 mile trip in ocean and bay conditions and still had a third in reserve. One recommendation I would make is to add the Riva Race Sponsons and Top Loader In-take Grate. They have made a world of difference in rough water riding, and the sponsons grip like crazy when you turn. Other add-ons I have made: Garmin CV 62 GPS Map/with IN-Hull Transducer, Floorboard Wedges, Ergolock Knee Pads, Cup Holder, Gunwales, Fishing Seat, and Storage Organizer. (all purchased on Sea Doo site, or through my dealership) I also have the 4 gallon Linq Gas Container. I have the idf which has worked flawlessly the few times I've needed to use it. I love my GTX! Not a single problem. Good luck and here's to many great hours on the water. Nice review. Thanks for sharing.

      @@maccam26 Since I've added the Riva Sponsons and Top Loader In-take Grate my rough water handling and turning has improved immeasurably. I went 52 miles in very rough conditions (2-3) foot confused seas with 15-20 knot winds) the other day it handled great. They were a great addition. Also added the Angled Floorboard Wedges which I've found really help when I'm standing up. I ride the Rhode Island Sound which can get really rough. You tube has some great videos on these. Where do you ride?

Regarding the windscreen - every review I've watched said it's a game changer, no wind fatigue on long rides, you can hear the music better, talk to passengers or on the phone/radio crystal clear, and you still can get wet but the spray isn't directly in your face.

    I have the 300 supercharger version with a jpracing stage 1+ kit on it. Does about 82mph. Crazy fast, but it sucks gas like theres no tomorrow! I just like to tour and do long day rides so I will be selling to get the 170. Much better choice for me now. My ski has 162 hours on it and it's been perfect! I like the Yamahas to but they do not offer enough storage and space as a seadoo so will be staying with them. Enjoy your ski

    I’m in the market for a ski great video! Also you absolutely right about how speed feels like on the water. I had a friend who had a older gp1300r ski and had a bunch of stuff done to it that hit 82mph on gps. 82mph on the water is ridiculous. I almost could not take it. Once you got above like 70mph it’s just to fast I don’t feel safe. 60-65 is more than enough

    Sweet machine man! I went for performance over fuel econ and got a ‘21 GTR 230, and I regret nothing.
    Two questions for you;
    1. I hear a lot about the ST3 hull bow-hunting and behaving erratically in cross-chop, have you experienced that at all?
    2. I ran into someone on another Sea-Doo a little while ago, and they said that the brackets that hold the snap-in bumpers catch and spray water at them, even at speed and without the bumpers attached. Has that ever happened to you?

    • @flattiredan56
      @flattiredan56  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey bud. Congratulations on your machine. I have heard the bow hunting thing as well, but I haven’t noticed it, at least significantly. My machine handles outstanding, especially in choppy water, I couldn’t be happier with it. No, I haven’t noticed spray issues with those bumper mounts. I actually rode the machine a few times before I installed them. I think sometimes people are just looking for something to complain about lol. Thanks for watching.

      @@flattiredan56 Thanks, good to know. I might end up adding those bumpers to my ski at some point. Right now I’m working with a buddy who does metal fabrication to make a custom cargo rack that’ll hold a boatload of spare fuel, hopefully I’ll get to test it this coming weekend

      I had a FishPro for 140 hours, which i later switched to a RXT-X 300 RS, it currently got 168 hours on the clock.
      1. Yes, in some situations the bow is quite unpredictible, i have actually been flung off the ski. But It is by far the dryest ride of all the ski's. The older Kawasakis will be quicker in rough water, but the rider gets soaked.
      2. My bumper mounts doesnt cause any spray issues.
