I learned this technique through an old CG1 karma vid by RyuHayabusa3 btw, I forgot to mention that. He did it with the nunchaku but it's pretty much the exact same thing with the dragon sword. It's actually a really great consistent way to dodge the fireballs though, as long as you are comfortable with the slight timing differences depending on your distance to alma. As long as you time your first jump to just before her first volley of fireballs hit you (so that you jump over them), then it's pretty much 100% consistent. So if you are farther away from her, you will just need to delay the first jump slightly more than you would if you were close to her, if that makes sense, since the fireballs have to travel that bit of extra distance to reach you. This is on the series x btw
Dude. Freaking awsome! I don't know how many tries this took you, but awsome job man. Sick gamepmay. This looks really nice my guy! Keep up the awsome and great work my brother!
Start a new game, select the default costume. When you get to chapter 2, save the game and reset the game (may only work at the masakado save statue, I am actually having trouble remembering). Pull up your save and reselect the default costume, then load the save. When you beat masa and move on to chapter 3, you should still have the purple costume.
Does anyone know if the game learns from you when you've been several hours playing it? Like, it's mind blowing I try a new strat on her and for some reason she does the exact move to avoid my new strat. If my new strat is succesful on her... well, she does the exact opposite I was expecting and no longer works, no matter if I retry the boss fight. Does the game read my mind?
It definitely feels this way at times, I know what you mean. Especially when you have a long, continuous session going. I think it's more confirmation bias than anything though, as they don't consistently "adapt" to your strategy every time based on my experience. Sometimes it feels like they have certain AI presets that switch around on deaths/resets, especially in NGII. Again, though, it's very hard to say for sure. Who knows, maybe Guilty or someone will be able to figure this out and give a definitive answer in the future :)
You can wear it on any difficulty. Start a new game, select the default costume. When you get to chapter 2, save at the masakado statue and reset the game. Overall I'd say so. Awakened Alma is definitely a much better boss in Black for several reasons. Sigma is not nearly as bad as some would have you believe though; it's still an excellent game. It doesn't quite reach Black's level but is still fantastic in its own right. Plus you get some cool additions like the in air bow and the dual swords. The Rachel missions are a bit boring, but Rachel herself is decently fun to play as. I just wish her sections were separate from the main game. It would be great if they were an extra mode you could select from the main menu, something like separate ways in RE4.
@@dakotacz Been ages since I got to play Black, but found a e-sports bar nearby with retro consoles and got to play the Ninja Gaiden (not black or sigma). Even just on hard difficulty Alma would never fall to ground from the flying swallow hits, idk what's with that. Quite honestly with dragon sword I couldn't do that for the entire kill without Ninpo. Quite cool dodging of them balls though!
@@mooney3350 Thank you! Yeah flying swallow can be pretty hit or miss (literally), sometimes you'll get multiple flying swallow knock downs, sometimes you don't get any. Still very worth going for, just gotta stay on your toes and react accordingly to what she does. And you don't want to just spam it without thinking, as that will get you killed very quickly. That's why the charge ET to haze straight slash is so important, as it's 100% guaranteed to knock her down. That e-sports bar sounds pretty sick!
I really appreciate you sharing the tactic of dodging the fireballs with jump-jump-X-B-Y

Sick gameplay! That "ting" of Alma's blocking a Flying Swallow haunts my dreams.
2:00 you serious?
Wow, using an air combo to dodge an attack is genius. This game was truly ahead of its time❤
Excellent guide to beating alma no hit

Thank you so much! Yeah this took a lot of tries, I am not sure how many either lol
One of the most unfair bosses in the history of gaming. Very satisfying to finally beat though
Better than the goddess at the end of NG3 thou 😂
Flying Swallow was still OP even after they nerfed it in Black. Nice job mate.
Damm thats my ninga
Such a majestic but yet very terrifying facing Alma she’s a pain!
Impresive
That was masterful!
How can you use that costume past chapter 2 i always enjoyed it better than battle suit

Never played black but it seems better than Sigma
