  • We were a group of elderly tourists from Singapore visiting Tibet for the first time. As Tibet is a high altitude highland it is important to make some preparation on your health before your travel.

      I try to save money and visit this golden country of Tibet in the future. Since I still work so it is sometimes difficult to take leaves for several days but I will certainly visit for sure.

    Though Tibet is my land but not allowed to live in Tibet 😕 I'm in India as refugee.

    Great information teo. We were there a year ago and did Mount Kailash kora but my wife got sick - very scary. God bless the Tibetan people. We also loved Singapore in March 2019 :)

      Yes altitude sickness is very scary. Many in my group also fell sick even though we acclimatised in the lower region of China first before Lhasa.

      Our tour had very nice young students from Singapore for the first part and we met up with them for Bak Kut Teh in Singapore in March! I just finished our Tibet 2018 video, and yours autoplays right after ours :)

    I made this video for my own travelogue and decided to share later as I felt many people do not hv a chance to visit Tibet an amazing place. Unfortunately there were some negative comments like propaganda or political views here. I am just a tourist and will not visit places that are not safe.

    My 2006 visit to Tibet with World Expeditions was insightful. I found the people friendly and open. Beware of child begger scams in Lasa. Eye drops, hard candy, ballpoint pens and scratch pads are small gifts country folk and monks will appreciate.

    Jokhang is temple not monastery. Sera, Drepung etc monastery. Romoche like Jo Khang is temple.
    Only the top floor of Potala is residence of Dalai Lama. Potala in essence is "all in one' where offices of Tibetan govt, museum, court and even warehouse are located.

The current Xi Jinping's forced residential school in Tibet even for the toddler is grave danger to Tibetans as children are only allowed to study and talk in Chinese.       Pancakes611 I don't agree with his idea but neither with yours. Religion is not bullshit but it is NOT what makes a Tibetan unique. Various Tibetans believe in Buddhism, Bön, Islam, etc., but has the same ethnic personality that make them distinguished from the rest of China. That is what makes their Buddhism Tibetan Buddhism, and what makes their Islam Tibetan Islam.

    A very noticeable sign of Chinese colonialism in Tibet is a huge Chinese letter on sign board but very small Tibetan everywhere. Sometimes the ignorance is that Tibetan letters are just turned upside down.
