  • Since the PCNC 770 and 1100 setup is so similar, we have combined the steps into one video. When there are differences a notification will appear on the top of the screen. This video is not a replacement to the manual. Before installing either machine you must read the manual thoroughly.

Heres the deal, My PCNC 770 paid for itself- bought used with absolutely every option (ATC, 4th AXIS, ETC.), it was used once a month to demo Tormach capabilities. It didn't take long for people to get wind that I had a machine and could make parts (not aerospace tolerance parts). long and short, I paid the 770 off and kept the machine working, which paid for a HAAS Mini Mill 2 with the cash flow from basic parts. Don't bite off more than you can chew - I personally wont buy any equipment if it can't pay itself off, and at the time the Tormach was budget friendly.

We love to hear stories like this! We're glad the Tormach served you well, helped you grow your company, and hope it's still being put to good use.

I would suggest using a spirit level after 5:55 and make sure the base stand is levelled out properly before putting the mill on top. Also the shower-hose and taped USB/VGA extension cables look a bit amateuristic. Other than that I like the Tormach VMC concept.

They didn't clean the anti-rust preservative off 'all the machine parts' and insure that all the machine elements are receiving way oil. I wanted to see what lengths you go to to see all the preservative is removed.

How much extra would the shipping be if the machine just came shipped onto the stand? Is it not safe to do that or what? If it's just cost, what would the difference be? Besides that, there's also a bunch of mini assemblies to deal with when it arrives. A true hobbyist typically won't care. But anything beyond that, I could see that being a nuisance to small shop owners. Any option to have something like 90% of this video already completed (except for a few tweaks) when it arrives at the door?
    Just a thought really.

If this is assembled in China then you must have a dealer in China as well?

Cool machines but over priced by the time you purchase the stand, enclosure, ATC, automatic drawl bar, controller, flood coolant system ect, you can have a real VMC in the used market that comes will all those features, has more power, speed, servos, tooling with pull studs, rigidity with an industrial controller. It's a hard sell to steer towards Tormach.

Yep - I would get a Haas TM1 or TM2 over one of these any day. A used ones is the same price or less but WAAAY more machine. I bought a TM2 in 2006 and it was fantastic - 1ph power too so it works in just about any house. Tool changer, probes, CAT40.

You can't say something is overpriced by comparing the price of a new machine to the price of a used machine. You have to compare prices of both machines new or both machines used.

Why buy a new camaro when you can buy a 1995 z28 for a quarter of the price! Lol. I'm ordering a new tormach

      1) Space requirements: Not everyone has room for a full size VMC, whether it's due to ceiling height, machine footprint, or foundation limitations. A Tormach can fit places a VMC cant.
      2) Power requirements: VMC's need 3 phase power which most people dont have access to, especially in their garage. With Tormach machines you get a range of power requirements but even the PCNC1100 only requires 220V 20A service which people already have or can be easily attained.
      3) Warranty: You don't get a warranty with a used VMC, but you get a 1 year warranty with a Tormach. Tormach's customer service seems to do a great job if you have any problems too.
      4) Repair costs: With a used VMC you are guaranteed to be getting a USED machine which means wear and tear. That wear and tear means you will probably be having to replace parts soon. Replacing parts on a full size VMC is much more expensive than replacing parts on a Tormach. On top of that, all the parts on the Tormach will be new and wont need replacing for some time.
      5) Newbies tend to crash: When you crash a full size VMC they have enough power that they can hurt themselves. The lower power of the Tormach can be looked at as a shortcoming but in this regard it can be a good thing. If you crash a Tormach you are less likely to cause bad damage to the machine itself aside from stalling the motor or breaking a tool.
      6) A la carte packages: With the Tormach you don't need to buy all the things you listed right off the bat. The power drawbar, enclosure, and ATC can all be added on later when the money comes along thus reducing the initial cost quite significantly.
Basically what I am getting at is one must evaluate their needs, financial situation, and mechanical aptitude to determine what route to take. I will be the first to admit that a Haas kicks butt but it didn't make sense for me due to many of the points I just listed. I see this as an entry level machine that gives people the opportunity to get into the game that otherwise would not have been able to. I love this field and the more people that can get into it the better. Keep on making chips my friends no matter what machine that happens to be on!

+Neto Neto Hi Neto, We don't have any re-sellers in Brasil, but we do have one in Bolivia, if that helps. Otherwise you can order directly from Tormach, as we also deal with worldwide sales. You can find more information about our re-sellers on this page. www.tormach.com/wheretobuy.html
