  • "Reds Canyon Loop" is an incredibly gorgeous trail in the south end of the San Rafael Swell in Central Utah. Starting at a high elevation, you can see the beautiful canyon that you will be descending into. Once in the canyon, you can see where the trail gets its name. Winding through the red cliffs, you will wish you could spend days down here. As you exit the trail in any direction (Depending on which way you entered) you are treated with more spectacular views of the surrounding areas. This is an absolute must do in the Swell!
Update 04/24/23: Reds Canyon Loop is named after an early rancher named "Red Blackham"
    Highest Elevation: 6905 Ft
    Length: 26 Miles
    Road Conditions: Graded Dirt/Gravel
    Road/Trail Difficulty: Easy and Rated 1 & 2 (On a scale of 5)
    Emery County Road: 1019

@@cactushill One of my scariest experiences was getting caught in a wash, looking for our horses up in the northern end of the San Rafael Swell, and watching a thunder storm roll in at what was the head of the wash. I've never been so happy to get my motorcycle out of a wash and back to a truck in my life! Then the storm blew over and didn't rain!

@@bmiller9456 Great story! Thanks for sharing. Even though the storm didn't materialize you now know how fast you can get the heck out of a situation. So far we have managed to avoid a weather event (Knock on wood 😉) or been on a plateau or an area where it didn't matter. Thanks again!

I used to ride ATVs quite a bit. Etiquette is you are supposed to use fingers to show how many more following in your group. Last rider is supposed to show closed hand to signal being last rider in the group. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been meaning to explore the Swell area much more. Maybe this year.

Thanks Richard for confirming the etiquette on the trails. So, basically the last guy should have given us a closed fist rather than an open hand wave....Anyway, thanks again for the comment and viewing our video. It is sincerely appreciated!

Lynn, yes definitely about those rock formations. Congrats on the Air 2 S. Please let me know how it goes. I have found out some negative info on Skydio products from some 1st responders that have used them. So, I am looking at the Mavic products. Anyway, thanks again for commenting and viewing our videos. It is sincerely appreciated!

@@cactushill Air 2 S is a learning project. The camera is amazing and it is smart and can do a lot of the flying work for you. Getting comfortable with the active track was a little tricky but we're getting there. This drone is a semi-professional drone and tough to beat for the price. It is very stable in the wind, which is why I got it versus the Mini Pro 3, plus the price at $1,109 for the fly more combo made it an easier choice. You'll want the fly more combo to get the 3 batteries which is essential because it give you more flying time in the field. Feel free to reach out with any questions or thoughts. We are going back to Capitol Reef and Factory Butte later this month or early in May.

@@lynnnorthrup8914 Thanks for the review of your experience with the Air 2S and getting the "Fly Combo" makes a lot of sense. Let me know how your trip to CRNP area goes. We will be in that area in the Fall. We love going up to the Fishlake National Forest and seeing the Fall colors. Anyway, take care and maybe we will see you out there one of these days!

@@cactushill You'll have to decide based on your wants and needs. I checked with two friends who already had the Air 2 S. Only draw back was battery life (26 minutes) and the fixed aperture of the camera lens. Because of the price difference those two items were not deal breakers. The issue for me was wind and it passes the test. I've had it in strong breezes at over 300 feet with no wind warnings. Let me know what you decide on. Lynn

Travelled Temple mnt. road back in 2008 and unable to do Red Canyon due to low fuel. Was on the motorcycle heading to Castle Dale. Hope to get up there this fall. Have enjoyed your videos. Thanks

Don't those tall rock mountain things kind of resemble petrified castles or something?
