What a fantastic and inspiring individual. So humble and forthwith answers to difficult questions. I just wish to say that hearing from people like this corroborate the unspoken notion that at the end of days music is still about the emotion one garners from it, no matter how you get there with the final production. I once took a brief course where one of the first things we were told to do is find a selection of tracks that we enjoyed BUT were not perhaps the best mixed/mastered. THAT was eye-opening. Thank you for this, Mandy, Dennis, Loop and Ableton! Thanks not just from me, yet from me and the struggling community. Dennis you are a fantastic interviewer and one of the main reasons I can sit through such a talk and not feel each min pass by. Great questioning.

Mandy captures my own mixing problems perfectly in the Q&A - I want the bass to sound as intense as it sounded at The End or deep in the Arches at Lost ("So loud!")! Great interview with a brilliant woman.

MQA = "a solution looking for a problem" (a quote from fabien from TDR, taken from a gearslutz thread well worth reading if you want an objective alternative opinion on MQA)

"objective set of ears" is too strong a word, I think. The most "objective" in the real world are artificial intelligence systems that make mastering, but you can try something like landr yourself and you will hardly decide that it makes better decisions than a top-level mastering engineer does. Any mastering engineer will always be subjective in his decisions, this is human nature. It would be more correct to say "fresh ears" and a lot of experience and critical listening.
