Incredible how much money and influence the tobacco industry has had over American airways and consequently, consumers, young and old....and for so long.
I like how Frank always has something going on at the start . Miles to walk . Trouble with the wife . Fixes up Friday when he doesn’t have enough salt .. Great guy 😎
I crack up every time I hear this episode, the delay between the detectives and Mrs. Baker the landlord is terrible. Like they weren't recorded at the same time
Absolutely you can tell the parts that were not recorded at the same time. It IS almost unbearable, as I am used to their typical REALLY high standards! SPOILED yes I am spoiled! I always try to remember how appreciative I am of OTR Podcast's Uploads!
I think the delay was done on purpose to convey her attitude. There is no way Jack Webb would allow such a technical glitch on his very professional program.
On every other channel that has this episode the delay is there. She is one of those busybodies landladies they so often deal with but the pause has no effect in making her sound even ruder. It does sound like the actress read her lines separately and then poorly edited with that pause. It is only with that one character -the pause occurs again when she speaks a couple lines later so that makes me think it was a mistake when originally editing that particular actresses lines into the episode. It’s hard to believe it aired that way originally, but it could have.
What's with the landlady waiting so long before she said her lines? Kind of annoying and unrealistic. I wonder if this was a rehearsal or something. ??
Whatever the flaws, I've always enjoyed these broadcasts. Old time radio.. there will never be anything like it ever again.
I like the way Friday just about always gets the last word.
Thanks for posting these programs!!!
Hey Old Man I hope You are doing Great!!!
That delay she gives talking to them is giving me crazy anxiety hahaha the suspense!

And Friday always acts annoyed and tries to push Frank to get to work.
The land lady sure has something to hide. The way she sounds. Joe is very patient.
The landlady just doesn’t like cops . And has to really think about her answers ... Mabey a Hype 😮💉

I'll need to re-listen to the episode with that in mind. Thanks for the insight and thanks for listening!

It’s like a skip on your favorite record . It just adds to the cool 😎

Chesterfield... almost healthy 😲
One of only very few episodes where Joe doesn’t have the last word
I agree about the landlady. Too much lag time...almost impossible to get through, it’s so annoying.
"Chesterfields are low in nicotine." Translation: You have to smoke more to get your fix so we make more money.
She's just Really Really Stalling them
A report from a DOCTOR??? About Chesterfields 😮
Good, and good for you.
My guess is the landlady character's lines were recorded separately and poorly edited in to this production.
No way. Jack Webb was too much a professional. The delay was intentionally done to portray her attitude.
Jack Webb is A Savage!!!
Why Wanda?

Her husband will have a girlfriend in 6 weeks.
Room 42 .... Homicide 😎
Why is she delaying the answers? Driving me nuts!
awkward pauses interviewing the landlady - maybe an editing issue. But why was she so antagonistic about it?
