You have such big sister and very trusting vibes😭 like wow if I could choose an older sister I feel like it would be such a privilege to be able to choose you ✨💓
It's the way I find myself in far residences 💀 last year I was at Campus Key and honestly i had too many days id skip out on classses for the day purely because I didn't want to take that boring walk again. I'll add a reply for my experience with Campus Key under this message for anyone interested in hearing Now all of that just for me to go stay at Volley Brooklyn 😭 (fun fact for people that's the res she went to in the Brooklyn House tour for the Plato, it's on-site). They do have shuttle service and there are 2 routes i can take to get onto campus so hopefully that helps me 😂
[this will be quite long, I'll separate each aspect if you're more interested in one specific one] So as for Campus key (I stayed at South but most of not all can apply to Glyn as well) [Rooms themselves] Overall it's very quiet and the rooms are quite spacious with an en-suite bathroom (nicely sized shower and looks very modern) and a shared kitchen with one other person. My issue with the kitchen is that there aren't any windows so you have to keep the door open with something for ventilation (also the green floor wasn't a very pretty green shade to look at💀). There's also no oven in the room kitchen and you'll have to go downstairs to use one of 2 ovens in the communal kitchen. (Yes it gets a bit hectic during loadshedding times because the rooms don't have backup power) [Distance to shops/restaurants] The place is pretty deserted, I think if you're a person who needs to be on Hillcrest Campus or near the sport houses this place is perfect as it's very close by. Other than that the nearest shops will take me ~20-30 minute walks to get to (Hatfield Plaza and Hillcrest Boulevard), I'd have to go through the Plaza after classes somedays as it cuts down my travelling, and you have to walk with your bags if you're not willing to pay for an Uber (it's not that bad like under R30 one way, I just like holding onto money for food 💀) but wow especially in the heat of Pretoria please equip yourselves with umbrellas. [Distance to campus] Hatfield campus itself is a one street walk walking on South Street only and going through House Khutso/Nala gate or going one street over to the Prospect street gate (ask around for the Hatfield Campus map and you'll see these two entrances near the top right side). Those walks would take me 15~23 minutes to walk to and an extra 15 minutes to get to my buildings that aren't near those gates on campus. So if you wake up late for a test or practical book an Uber and pray😭 [Staff] The staff there are really friendly (I'll miss you Carmen) and are quick with dealing with your issues and maintenance, I didn't need to speak often to them but when I did they were great with getting to my issues. [Studying] The study area is so tiny and especially with loadshedding schedules coming back, most people go down there to charge their phones and talk (again, unfortunately the rooms are affected by loadshedding but the communal areas are backed by generators) so if you're looking for a study friendly residence this is not the one to consider if you prefer studying outside your room. [Social] This place is great if you're a social person, my friends and I weren't very social and found it's usually the same people who are downstairs in groups talking and doing stuff (there's a pool table and single TV you can plug your consoles to. There's also a little dart and ping-pong area with a braai stand, unsure if it's free-to-use or events only I've never seen someone braai there personally). To continue with the social aspect, there's no booking in people as far as I'm aware so you can just open the gate and let your friends in any time any day if you want to. Because there's 2 Campus Keys nearby they do host events monthly at both and if you stay at one CK, you can go to the other CK anytime (just ask if your fingerprints will be registered at both or if you'll need someone to bring you in the other because I'm not sure). I think that covers my experience and Knowledge with Campus Key, if this helps anyone I'm glad to be of service 🪷🌱❤️
@@marimetonia Oh yes! Walking to Volley is quite a distance, I probably said so on that vlog😂. I was actually wondering if they have a shuttle service or not, but since they do it’s worth it because it’s a really really stunning residence as well🥹🥹.
Hi! I’m starting first year soon and I’ll be staying at Varsity Studios. You mentioned there’s a noise problem but also the management is quite good. Do they attend to the noise complaints promptly? Thanks for the great video I hope to see you on campus this year. ❤❤
@@nonamecommenter Hi there❤️❤️, yes if you have a problem with people making noise on your floor or a neighbour then you can always report it to the floor rep or house mother (Student Life Manager), however, if your room is on a lower floor you might experience noise from taxi’s and the gautrain, but eventually you get used to it.
