the difference between pro drummers and amateur drummers is that pro drummers are able to explain what they are doing, plain and simple. Stanton is a huge breath of fresh air. He deserves every bit of success...
YOU are AWESOME..... I see I commented before, I just really dig watching your RHYTHMIC ideas. Your sound is so tight and your sticking is so inventive. Thanks for posting all these great videos.
What is the sticking for the New Orleans "waller & co"(?) groove from 3:45 onwards? Is it a one or two bar pattern? I can hear the RH accents on toms but cant work out the order in which the filling notes are played. Any help be great :)
I think its RLLRLLRL x 2 and only the last pair of LH is played on the rim. Think 16th notes. So you get R (L) L R (L) L R L and R (L) L R L L R L. Hope that makes sense. :)
it's not his technique that is sick. don't take me wrong. his technique is awesome but it's his groove that makes him one of the best drummers. how he grooves with such simple patterns like LLPL PLPP.
I really like sound of tambourine Good lesson but stanton seems sad. Like he promised to shoot this video on a certain day but his puppy died last night and hes doing to his best ability but has that sadness underneath. I'm not , repeat not, saying that happened , he just seems sad is all. I like his groove and videos.

that is AWESOME..... Stanton is most innovative drum set player.... great sticking patterns and great grooves....
That sounded amazing mate. Nice job
I can't wait to sit down and practice these rhythms and memorize the names of them...
Very cool. Ways ,to implement / express Drumming Creatively .Hello
i fuckig love your beats!! There doesn't need to be any rhythm or melody with them they just sound amazing enough to be a song all their own!!
Sick. Thanks for inspiring me.
I didn't know stanton was that good! dand I have alot more respect for him!
for that last rhythm, i was half expecting him to put the stick in the tambourine hole and still incorporate the cowbell. that woulda been awesome
Stanton is the man!!!
para para diddle diddle, or drag paradiddle no 1 Love it!!
I read "demonstrates his sick techniques" in the description, but actually that's correct as well :)
Get his first book: taken it to the streets. All these rhythms are in it. It is a great book!!!!
awesome stuff!!
"yeah and then you can throw some more accents in there like this"
yeah sure i can.
Stanton Moore is legit.
1 man army ... music wise :D
awesome man!

Guaguanco
bravooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
masterclass!
Beautiful brutha...thank you.
They put some funky sauce in his coffee eh!
I remember this video. Someone here wanted me to play this but never responded when I posted before. .
The kick is dotted quarter - dotted quarter - quarter. Or a 3+3+2 rhythm. Or the 3 part of a 3-2 clave. However you want to look at it.
El elemento secreto para que suene a GUAGUANCÓ es tomar un shot de ron antes de tocar. Saludos desde Latinoamerica! :D
Regal Tip "calato" makes an hand-borine that make's incorperating a tamborine much easier. Check it out, ive been using it for years.
Baby Stanton
"Hey I'm Stanton Moore....this next groove you won't be able to play NEARLY as well as I play it....so just sit back and enjoy!"
Ok. I guess I've got to get time to put together my acoustic kit? Or would the electronic one be cheating?
on kick it is one-car clave - otherwise known as 3/3 clave. it is a fundamental second-line groove.
awesome...
Cool!
Man, I wish I could make it sound like that
dude!!!!
that sticking at 0:40 can be used with the song Unchain My Heart - Ray Charles
Double paradiddle on the snare, Mambo bass pattern under it, and 2 and 4 hi-hat ticks. Easy!!!
what is he doing with his bass drum foot over the new orleans mambo? and "the sticking that he uses often"
is that Gretsch renown '57 kit!!!?? wow
very good Stanton thank you.
@Gretsche87
Is it the first half of the 3-2 clave? 1, andof2, 4?
I AM ON IT ...............
So bad ass!
I likey
yeah...
he feels the grove :)
@rolaball74 Right he is one of the best around , please listen to Bill Stewart and Billy Martin from Medeski Marin & Wood Too .
is that a 6" or an 8" ??
What bass drum pattern is he playing?
KA KA GONG GING GING GONG KA KA GONG GING GING GONG
@Gretsche87 yes, just a typical mambo
If you're talking about the tambourine, I'd say it's a 8" :)
rad
Love this guy's style but the tambourine felt really forced
haha cool! :D
Its in his blood, man
"Hi ho, hi ho, its of to practise I go !"
Let's see your video
TU-ptp-TTUPACCA-tz-T-TU-ptp-TTUPACCA-TSs- T-TU!
That's usually how you hold it when you're playing side stick.
I find it easier to work it out in real time rather than slowed down ..I know how it should sound ..then I'm there dude!
Is it just me or does Stanton Moore look way "cooler" with age?
You can see the Indians a Comin', OmbaWay? Tou et Pocky Way!
im sure stanton tunes his own drums
lol 0:06 You can telll this was early in the morning.

sabian?????
@bsm6776 he still uses gretsch, bro
He just looks tired as hell (I recognize this facial trait from years in high school jazz band, haha).
Nope! Some drummers have dreadful technique, but awesome groove
Did LP have to pay both Sabian and Stanton to allow him to use Sabian Cymbals, lol?!?
He left out the part about having to have 4 brains :-/
I really like sound of tambourine
Good lesson but stanton seems sad. Like he promised to shoot this video on a certain day but his puppy died last night and hes doing to his best ability but has that sadness underneath. I'm not , repeat not, saying that happened , he just seems sad is all. I like his groove and videos.
So tasty
I can see the mardi gras indians coming down the street now, Omba Way!!!
this is a drumming video on how to use a tambourine to create unique patterns.... please go home.
It's a potato
I love Stanton Moore, but he has a weird mouth.
Yeah, it’s not at all weird that we’re learning a new drum groove and you’re analyzing a dudes mouth. Tooo-tally not weird. Yup.
