I could be wrong but I dont think there was a better time to be a teenager than the late 90s, musically speaking. The music industry recorded the highest global sales ever in history, so Teen pop phenomenon got pushed like crazy. Record labels promotes their artists like crazy, they were literally on every TV shows, MTV was getting bigger than it ever was and everybody soon have access to MTV. It was just the perfect environment to be an artist at that time.
