What’s up with the duck?
Not sure why they included in here, that is to say if it was on purpose or not, but the ducks are funny if you read the books particularly the Infernal Devices series and, of course the Mortal Instruments series because in it we learn the Jace's ancestor Will was scared of ducks and that this fear was apparently hereditary being passed at the very least to Jace and it is assumed all Herondales. In facts Herondales are afraid of ducks is a bit of a running joke in the fandom.

The Herondale family has a dislike for ducks, starting with William who fed them a food that had duck in it (which they ate). He remarked that they were cannibals and unsettling. Another instance with him was something that happened with his sister and a duck - I can't quite remember it.
Jace has no reason to dislike them, he just simply does. All the rabid fans have somehow morphed both of their fears into "if they see a duck they scream" type of thing. In reality, it's nothing that severe.
