The new AA, especially post merger, is not the same AA of years ago, under Robert Crandall. This feels more like USAirways, than the American I use to know and love.
The reason the aisle seat armrest goes down is to make the seat user friendly for guests who require aisle chair transfers. its much easier than having to be lifted up over the arm rest.
Great video! I miss the in-seat video monitors. The streaming video is hit or miss whether it works or not. I agree about the inconsistent service. It’s frustrating as a frequent flyer (especially when I’m in first class) that I have no idea what kind of service I am going to get. Safe travels!
Up front on AA mainline since the pandemic I've had no problem getting drinks. Flying on Republic (AA Eagle) is a mixed bag, one flight the FA was proactive, one flight it was on request, and the other the FA refused to do any service even upon asking.
Agreed. I fly first all the time and asking is always a thing vs Delta that gives you a “before push back” option plus a drink or whatever after 10. I’m going Charlotte to Dallas Saturday with my meal already ordered. I’ve not ever had issues with them on anything.
I've been on an Oasified AA 321 between CLT/MIA a few times. The cabin refresh looks decent but the seats themselves are less comfortable than either the LUS or LAA ones on the 321. As you pointed out, the tray table is good, but it is literally a premium economy seat, and not even particularly comfortable by that low standard.

I've been on American Airlines before and believe me I did the flight attendants were amazing the service on the airline was awesome I flew on American Airlines years ago when I was a kid going to San Juan Puerto Rico you're probably wanted to know the name of the airport in San Juan Puerto Rico do you
When I recently flew I slept the whole flight all i got was a bag with a pretzel snack bag, a bottle of water, and a hand sanitizing wipe. Coming back from Philadelphia i got the same service but since it was in the afternoon, I watched movies on my IFE screen.
I was just on AA to Cabo A321 with the old US airways cabin. On my return flight to LA I was on the A321 neo. I prefer the old cabin with IFE screens to the new neo Oasis cabin, but the neo itself is such an improvement over the regular A321. Mixed bag as you said. I’m just looking forward to the pandemic being over and service returning to normal with food and drinks, although I’m sure they’ll continue with cost cutting❤️👍✈️
Don’t worry about impostor cop!! You can drive from Atlanta to Charlotte. I had driven from Atlanta to South Carolina to thru Charlotte before headed to source. Don’t be lazy for that but you enjoyed your voyage to any destinations!!!
ATL to CLT is so short, it really doesn’t bother me to not get a full drink service. I’d rather they be safe than sorry, speaking as someone who landed with a drink cart on me.
Those new oasis seats in 1st class are a downright insult to anyone paying 1st class fares. I try to avoid the oasis interiors whenever I’m able. The legacy AA A321 & B737 first class was miles better... from the padding, to the pitch, IFEs and superior recline.
Question. I typically fly 1st class but this is the first time I have noticed the overhead compartments in 1st class with the decals "reserved for business/1st class". It's always annoyed me to see main cabin people shove their luggage above your head and then go to their seats back in the plane. It's especially annoying if you don't board until later in 1st class. How strict are they enforcing that?
Flying AA 1'st class from Philly International to San Diego International... will this be the a321 I'll be on? Also... I'll have a 14 pound 'service dog' on my lap. Can anyone tell me 'if' the window or aisle seat may offer a 'bit' more side room? I haven't flown since 1992... that Jet lost an engine. Needless to say it was a rough situation. Thanks for any info.
I'm surprised that installed mood lighting on the neo. Since AA likes to take weird ways of cost cutting. Remember the seats was supposed to be at 29inch pitch but the FA was against it. Maybe AA could attempt 28 inch pitch in the future 😱. I'm surprised the 787 has PTVs at this point. Though I don't think that would be that cheap on widebody planes. I'm curious if AA would use the Max-200 in the future though again I think the FA union would be against that. Makes me worried that the A321xlr will not have PTVs 😱
Gosh, these comments make it seem like the only airline that uses ATL is Delta LOL! Anyway, after a decade of Delta layovers (and one AirTran!), I'll be hitting the actual City of Atlanta at last, on my way to BWI for the Southwest inaugural to O'Hare. - Red

Great video, like the refresh. I'll admit, in-seat IFE is almost to each their own. Domestically, I'm not all too worried about it. Give me a power outlet, let me stream, I'll do just fine, lol. American is hit and miss. Other rumors speculate American filling for Chapter 11 to all out collapse etc. One never knows, but internally, it's a mess. Separate unions all over the place still left over from mergers like America West, then US Airways. (Ramps on the majority of the west coast for example, are America West unionized while SNA is still contracted last I saw, to Piedmont.) AA lacks unity within from strife between unions to unions and the company itself. I do believe when American and US Airways merged, they finally settled with roughly the last dozen TWA unionized pilots still there.
Service is Flight Attendant based, while this is an issue training wise, American just has too many flight attendants that just do as they please instead of following service standards resulting in experiences such as this. There's no reason not to have retrofits with mood lighting, and taking off IFE's is also a mistake in my experience.
ehh seems like they're going to fail in the next decade or so. Stripping amenities to save costs, but still charging legacy airline prices. If american wants to keep afloat, they should upgrade their international seats and prices.
@@stuartlee6622 haha no yeah, they completely screwed up by retiring literally almost their entire backbone fleet. They are def in dire need of money, but the only part of them that almost shut down was their 737 operations
Definitely not a great experience or anything worthy of being called 'first class'. And thats before COVID hit. Personally, I despise flying American and have very poor experiences with their flight crews. My last straw was flying AA from PHX to Maui. The old 757 were disgusting, had no ife or power outlets (so my devices died during the long flight). They played a movie on the overhead screens that was rated R (not a problem with me but there were many children in first). And due to turbulence (which was honestly minor at best), they refused to let us use the lavatory. I will let you assume what happen because of that. Seriously the worse flying experience in my life, will not use AA unless I absolutely have no other choice. I've tried dozens of flights to give them the benefit of the doubt but there service is just so hollow and keeps degrading. Flight crews get older and more cranky. Just a waste of money.
Its been like 3 years and I still can't comprehend why name it oasis...
Is not oasis
Me to! Delta first class is way better!
Fully agree, it’s anything but an oasis.
for real
8:07 Delta: “Am I a joke to you?”
I was going to comment the same thing, then I realized he was being sarcastic lol
nope, we need cop details
Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson international is mainly delta.
33'" of legroom in main cabin extra! That's even less than jetblue's regular economy in their old interior!
Yeah, it’s sad.
I was on an old Continental 767-300 that BA shortly used... 34-36in in the back! Glorious. Then they retired those and the remainder had bleh
Retrofitting the XL bins was the only good thing about this interior change.
The new AA, especially post merger, is not the same AA of years ago, under Robert Crandall. This feels more like USAirways, than the American I use to know and love.
Makes sense. Seeing as without the merger American was going to fail.
The worst part is they got rid of the OG chrome livery
The reason the aisle seat armrest goes down is to make the seat user friendly for guests who require aisle chair transfers. its much easier than having to be lifted up over the arm rest.

Bruh LUS is so uncomfortable I hated having to fly on those crappy planes.
What about the cop ? What happened ?
Can’t wait to see if we get lucky with a new interior when we fly in Sept 2021 CLT to Vegas...oh, to be on a plane again...ANY plane!!
I just did this cabin from FLL to PHI - - it's fresh, comfortable, - just a pleasure.
I know this sounds weird but this is one of my favorite aa seats
Emil, can you or have you done a q&a? It’d be cool :)
Can’t wait to get on a 321 neo I’m booked on one in March on Alaska air

haha, at 2:04 you are flying to "harlotte!" Sounds like sin city to me! LOL
You’re pretty close with the overhead bins. They’re made by B/E Aerospace. B/E manufactured both the Airbus and Sukhoi interiors. 🍺
Man it took you that long to remember ATL was definitely a huge Southwest hub? And as for Oasis, still not a fan of it (at least in economy)
Excellent video and narrative, as usual from your work.

I would assume the fake cop was harassing due to taking video in the terminal, and didn't like it.
At 14:29 you can hear the autopilot disconnect from the cockpit
The major airline hubbed in ATL is the one that shall not be named..

Was the cop drop necessary? It has nothing to do with the flight experience. Seriously, its a distraction.
Well it was a distraction to me haha... plus, this comment is about a person posing as a fake cop, not a real cop.
The only thing I don’t like about airbus 320’s and 321’s is their small windows.
I hope it wont be used on flights from east to west coast flights cause no IFE! Great video I knew subbing here would be worth it👍 coz I just subbed🙂
Yeah the A321T will be used for that
