राजाले दर्शन नगर्ने बुढानिलकण्ठ मन्दिर Budanilkantha temple
Budhanilkantha Temple, located in Budhanilkantha, Nepal, is a Hindu open air temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Budhanilkantha Temple is situated below the Shivapuri Hill at the northern end of the Kathmandu valley and can be identified by a large reclining statue of Lord Vishnu. The temple's main statue of Budhanilkantha is considered the largest stone carving in Nepal.
The main statue is a black stone structure carved from a single block of black basalt. The statue stands 5 meters tall (around 16.4 feet) and is positioned in the middle of a recessed pool of water, which is 13 meters (42.65 feet) long. It depicts the deity reclining on the coils of the cosmic serpent Shesha. He holds the Sudarshana Chakra, Club, a Conch Shell and a gem in his four hands. He is well adorned with a crown engraved with multiple Kirtimukha images which can often be seen being overlapped by a silver crown. This temple is regarded as a sacred place for Hindus but equally well venerated by Buddhists which is an excellent example of religious harmony in Nepal.
बुढानिलकण्ठ मन्दिर जसलाई जलनारायण मन्दिर पनि भनिदो रहेछ । नेपालको अध्यात्मिक र सांस्कृतिक बास्तुकलाको सबैभन्दा पवित्र स्थानहरु मध्ये एक मानिदो रहेछ वुढानिलकण्ड मन्दिर । यो काठमाण्डौँ उपत्यकाको केन्द्रमा अवस्थित छ । बुढानिलकण्ठको नाम प्राचिन नेवारी भाषबाट आएको जनविश्वास रहेको छ । जहाँ वुढा को अर्थ पुरानो, निलको अर्थ नीलो र काण्ठको अर्थ गला भन्ने बुझिन्छ । सुतेको विष्णु वा वलक्षेत्र भनेर चिनिने यो मन्दिर नेपालको समृद्ध अतीतलाई परिभाषित गर्ने अथाह आदर र भक्तिको जीवन्त साक्षी रहेको छ ।
बुढानिलकण्ठ मन्दिर पुजा स्थल मात्र होइन यो अध्यात्मिकता र इतिहासको एक जीवन्त संग्रह पनि हो । यसको मुटुमा भगवान विष्णुको एक भब्य पत्थरको मूर्ति छ जो हिन्दू त्रिमूर्तिका रक्षक हो । विष्णुको मूती एक सफा र शान्त पोखरीको बीचमा सर्पहरुको कुण्डमा शालीनता पूर्वक बसेको देख्न सकिन्छ । भगवान विष्णुको यो प्रसिद्ध चित्रणले प्रकृति र देउता बीचको अनन्त सद्धभावलाई प्रस्तुत गर्दछ ।
