Never had a problem with mine. Not sure I trust someone who forgets to take the packing material off the charging handle or thinks it's part of the gun. Use high brass shells for a semi auto.

Look, I shouldn’t need to use 28 grains of green dot in a shell to get rounds to cycle.
However I will say semi automatics need 50 and a clean before I start passing judgement on reliability.
Don’t judge the man he’s only Canadian.

These are Turkish shotguns, they are shipped with shipping oil, not function oil, this is with all Turkish shotguns.
Before you use them, you need to take them apart, clean it and lube them with function oil.
Then you need to break them in, it's one of the reason they are so cheap, you need to fire 50 to 100 rounds of minimum 1200 fps ammo.
Once that is done, they work fantastic.
I have a citadel boss hog, it also has the same reputation like all Turkish imports.
I modified mine by adding a ATI T3 gun stock and a 8 round magazine tube.
Since day one, not one single failure to fire and I am well past 800 rounds through it.

    • @davidcudlip6587

Word. Spray some Gun Scrubber on the guts and wipe it off and use a light oil on it. 1 1/8 ounce high brass loads for 100 rounds and they're good to go. Most of these Turkish autos need a good cleaning out of the box. I've found metal dust and particles from machining that wasn't blown off before shipping oil/grease was applied for the container ship ride over here. This guy freaked out and didn't give this gun a chance. And I know damn well he never disassembled it and cleaned the smegma off the action before shooting it.

any gas driven and not inertia shotgun u get will have hang fires or not eject shells at first when it is brand new and you are breaking it in it is completely normal and u have to shoot bigger shells with more power (high brass or whatever u can get) for it to break in once it throws the action back and breaks in u can shoot any shells in it. but Benelli are inertia driven so they don’t have that problem. so it if the only thing “wrong” with the gun is trigger pull i’d say it’s a pretty nice little gun for $300.

Thanks for the video I had different issues with my 601 last year in the duck hole.. not even sure what went wrong I shot half a box through the gun and then bam the welds broke on the action itself.. took it to the hardware store that I got it from and they sent it off to chippea and I got it back within a month. I want to get more educated on the gas piston. But I think the gun has potential for the price point .. I bought a stoeger m3000 the next week and haven't had any issues with it and frankly I probably will never pick up the 601 again.

I bought 2 different models of the 601 platform I've found they don't tighten the barrel lug right. You have to disassemble it and wipe all the factory oil off before you use em. Once you properly lube and tighten everything down correctly they function pretty reliably. The only one I had problems with was out of the box wouldn't cycle. Took the thing apart and found it was a loose barrel but making it not have a gas seal and short stroking it. It looks like the same thing here. Now if you know nothing about guns or how to field strip them go buy a high dollar gun and use that warrenty when it jams due to carbon fouling.

    • @ToughCountry

Should be doing a disassemble on any new gun and clean the factory shipping oil off of it. They put this on to protect the firearm from possible salt sea air exposure during shipping and sitting on a dealers rack or back room for extended periods of time.

I would try a different brand of ammo. I've shot all the cheap stuff, including 2000+ rounds in my 1980s Beretta. I've only ever had two malfunctions with that shotgun and they were both from the same box of Challenger. Worst cheap ammo on the Canadian market.
Thanks for the video though. Nice editing. I couldn't find much about these anywhere else online.
PS: you're not experiencing hangfire. That's a totally different and dangerous malfunction. I'd call that FTE - Failure to Eject

all guns should be disassembled, cleaned, re-lube and tightened before use. even benelli's, beretta's, whichester, etc. no one should ever buy a gun and without cleaning go hunting with the weapon. gun manufactures over lube, because they do not know how long it may sit on a shelf and if it sits to long, it accumulates dust, because of the oil.

Sorry to say that these guns are junk. If you look inside the receiver you will notice that the bolt carrier slams into the receiver frame when fired, no bolt buffer like the other major brands have installed in them. If you shoot magnum loads it won’t last 500 rounds. I say this from experience, I have a 601 here in the corner now with this receiver issue. It now will not fully charge the shells. Also the pin from the bolt slid down and the bolt carrier bent it, due to the carrier traveling to far back into the receiver. If anyone don’t trust me then go buy one and try it for yourself, you will be upset after a short period of time.
