I don't see how it deserved that rating, very funny and as far as the films I have seen ,the list is quite accurate. Made me laugh, I looked on Xbox movie store in popular rental section and a load of your choices were there. Goes to show people will watch Almost anything. Myself included.... Almost watched argyle last week but saw a review just In Time.
Makes me laugh, they ask if I’m okay with the “inappropriate content” as if I haven’t been binging Angry Joe videos for a decade.

Basically the same effect with the PT and ST. It's better in what didn't work in the predecessor but it's bad in what the predecessor did good.
Guys, the indiana jones movies outside of the first one have never been good.
Temple of doom does not count because it is not an indiana jones movie. It is an adventures of tin tin movie. A comic series that sadly never gained traction in america due to ww2 created by geroges remi under the pen name herge.
After the first movie came out people compared it to tintin. Spielberg was unaware of its existence but after his first indiana film he fell in love with tintin, pitched an adaptation but up until that point there had been 2 horrible live adaptations of his work so he was reluctanct. Instead he asked if he could use one of its story for the next movie and herge agreed but demanded that all mention of tintin be removed. And thats how temple of doom came to be.
It is not an indiana jones movie, it's an adventures of tintin movie with indiana jones slapped on it.
The first Captain Marvel movie made so much money because it came out between Infinity War and End Game and people didn't want to miss out on a chapter and maybe not understanding something happening in End Game. That's why it was so successful. It did not have to do with the character.

Rebel Moon. A movie that I wanted to love and was in misery watching it. The third act actually put me in cardiac arrest and woke up from a coma 9 days later. Still don’t know what the ending is but I’m sure it would kill me and send me to the pearly gates.
To be honest, i don't think it is bad... it's not good either, of course. To me: it is generic. Still, i did not feel offended, like i do with star wars recently. So Rebel Moon is rather harmless to me... and it did not feel like "new star wars" but "glorious seven in space".
It might've even worked if Snyder went fo an 8-or10-episode-season instead of feature-lenght... and i did not expect that much beforehand cause - let's be real - Snyder was always style over substance.

I can watch Rebel Moon 3 times in a row without feeling anything , only thinking "it's dumb but harmless." But last jedi, rise of skywalker, and almost all D+ shows? Nah, i can't take that cr4p.

Eh FNAF movie wasn't good but i think it wasn't nearly as bad as they said, it had entertaining moments but also really really bad moments, although i see fans of the franchise defending it when really it's 4-6/10 movie

I understand your opinion about the movie. I really see that movie as pure fan service for the fan’s. Which I respect and know how they feel about it. But still it other peoples opinions of how they see it without knowing the lore and understanding of Fnaf. But still it different perspectives to them.
I wouldn’t mind if they made a sequel of the film, despite this being his final project of fnaf in the series.

I see this as a good thing. When the money stops flowing, they’ll finally try something new. Remember how long it took for them to eventually stop making those dumb satirical Date Movie/Disaster Movie parody movies?

That Disney sequel isn’t canon. And deserve to be in the garbage bin on fire.

Can I also add Zack Snider to my to my top worst directors list.
The scene that stands out to me was: The "Hero" is captured, restrained to an upright table, literally surrounded by 20 evil enemy with guns pointed at her, less than 25ft away. Yet she manages to escape the restraints, tackle someone to get there gun, and escape to cover before a single enemy can shoot her.
This scene stood out to me too but more because the cliche like obvious betray and the rest of the clichés
As a massive cinephile who was brought into the love of cinema by my dad who was also a massive cinephile, 2021-2022-2023 are just becoming increasingly more exhausting mentally. Films are my passion, my love my ultimate hobby to watch films, analyse them rewatch them and that passion is just being shit on by the studios now
And it isn't just that the new films are bad, but they are destroying the franchises I grew up with and loved so much. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Marvel and DC movies, it is just never ending film after film that just destroys my beloved franchises. It is mentally exhausting and depressing

All these movie reviews is why you never stop watching the classics. You can’t go wrong with the classics. As a cinephile, that’s why I spend the money on buying these hard to find classics because they’re worth owning. Even movies like Demon wind back in the 80’s that a lot of people don’t know about is 10x better then anything put out today.
Agree with 65. How do you make Adam Driver fighting dinosaurs with laser guns boring?! It's just...dull. Like, there were maybe one or two good action scenes (the one where Driver is ambushed by an Oviraptor and he has to use the hologram to try and find it in the dark and the one where the little girl is trapped in a log by a raptor), but that's it.
I was so hyped for that movie, I think that was my biggest let down of the year, just because I thought it would be good, the others you could tell might be bad

Joe said it perfect: Alex is a really good critic (he has a way with words, analosys is usually on point to the t) where Joe and OJ are more casual, but still very honest and true. Appretiate all you guys (doesn't mean I always agree, but I do way more often than don't), love what you do, keep it up!
2023 was a bad year for movies, we got some good movies, but so many crappy sequels, spinoffs, unoriginal dumpsterfires, etc.
Good movies ? Like what ? We got top 10, sure .. but any good ?
Most of the good movies this year were originals other than across the spiderverse and technically godzilla minus 1.
Mario doesn't belong on this list. Joe just hates Nintendo for some bizarre reason.

I think the single biggest problem with Rebel Moon was they took what should've been a 10-12 episode series and crammed it into a single movie. There is no chemistry between the characters, there is no filling in of back story...I had zero attachments to any of them. I couldn't care less what happened to them.
After what David Gordon Green did to Halloween Ends, seeing Exorcist Believer become a total disaster warms my heart.

DOD erased everything that ended CS with a happy ending! Just imagine if the movie had started out with an adult Short Round, who still wears his baseball cap AND who himself was now an archaeologist! He always saw Indy as a father figure and perhaps he felt inspired by him. He finds something mysterious and decides to seek out Indy after losing contact for the past 20 years. Indy is now head of the university and has become somewhat wealthy and famous after writing several books about his adventures over the years, which would have been later adapted into the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Him and Marion are thriving and Mutt has become much more mature with him and Indy on good terms now. Maybe he comes along for the ride? Anyway, Shorty and Indy have a very happy reunion and he manages to convince Indy into one last adventure after he privately confides to him that hes been thinking of retirement. Maybe Mutt becoming a father and his age be a motivator? They go on an adventure together and they have a touching moment in the middle. The movie ends with Indy's retirement and him taking his fedora off and putting it on Shorty's head, as a symbol of passing the torch to a younger generation. Similar to the beginning of The Last Crusade. NOW THAT would have been a triumph! I would have loved it! It would have been so easy! Plus at the behind the scenes just show how fake it actually is with Harrison Ford stunt doubles everywhere!

Ironically enough, it could have actually worked - Ke Huy Quan has had a pretty good turn in the last few years. He could have been an excellent supporting actor or even main character.

I haven’t seen most of them, but Multiverse of Madness was at least fun, Wandavision was pretty solid, No Way Home was mostly good, so it’s not ALL MCU movies, but after watching Thor 4… if that represents what they’re doing with other stuff… ooof.
I liked the premise of Knock at the Cabin, but it got too goofy too quickly. The kind of goofy where when planes lose engines and computers, they don't just glide until they crash, they start tumbling around like they were being thrown with GMod physics.

BlackRock invested billions into Disney, who in turn forced their studios to do ESG and DEI, and then writer experienced dropped like a rock. Compare the Netflix Marvel show writer credits to Secret Invasion and Echo if you need proof. It went from 50+ to most having 0-4.
The only super hero movie i have any hope for is Deadpool 3. Hoping Disney doesn’t ruin it. But after that i think im done.

I remember a commenter way back when said he thought the new Batman movie was a great recommendation and really portrayed how villains should be in movies… but he never watched the movie. My guess is he watched vicariously through TH-camrs analyzing the film which is fine but still it slightly frustrated me

Out of all the movies on this list, FNAF was the one I most enjoyed. It actually was fun and it was perfect for people who were fans of the games as a whole. The sequel I feel will definitely be better though.

i couldn't even finish Shazam 2. i got so bored i turned it off halfway through.
51:45 re Indy - Alex brings up the theory that they were originally trying to smear Indy in the film so Phoebe would get her own trilogy based off the IP.
DvdOverlord made several videos on this and was getting flak from James Mangold himself because DvDOverlord was saying that the test screenings were all terrible and they were trying to make Indy look dumb and old, and Phoebe take up the mantle when Indy dies in the end. (Even John Williams at a concert made the statement, yeah we had to re-score the ending for the new indiana jones)
So yeah. It really showed in the film. Like the ending felt extremely ham fisted in to give Indy a "good" ending in response to the backlash disney got from the test screenings.
It looked like they were setting it up so that he remains in the ancient past and lives out his last years there, finally happy with his life again. Then they forcibly dragged him back to his unhappy life in modern times. Having a melancholy ending where Indy is lost to history would have fit the movie better. Still would have been a shitty end to the series the way the rest of the movie unfolded, though.
Well, we already know AJS is gonna crap all over Madame Web and most movies this year with a female lead. Call it a hunch. This comment will age very well.
The only reason Captain Marvel made a Billion Dollars is because it was literally the last film to tie into Endgame and the final main Character that was Going to make her Appearance in both her own Movie and in Endgame later on.
Why do people not understand that?!!!
Even years after Endgame people have said that Captain Marvel didn't need to be in Endgame and if anything she should've been saved for to the start of Phase 4.
In Rebel moon, I don’t think the crew actually speak to each other at any point during the movie.
They pick up each character then move onto the next pick up and no one engages with each other!

People either thought it was terrible to below average. Rotten tomatoes really is only useful to give you an idea of whether or not something is terrible

I simultaneously loved and hated Beau. It's certainly worth watching for people who like abstract and surreal cinema. The ending is terrifying.

I forgot that came out last year... To me the only Flash film that has ever existed is The Snyder Cut.
They gave it a 7/10 except for Alex who gave it a 6. So, not bad enough for Joe's top 30 or Alex and OJ's top 5.

I’ve enjoyed almost everything Marvel has done until this last year. I loved Guardians 3 but I clearly remember seeing trailers for the content this year and just saying Nope. I’m actively not going to watch a lot of this.

In my opinion the FNAF movie wasn't good but i think it wasn't nearly as bad as they said, it had entertaining moments but also really really bad moments, although i see fans of the franchise defending it when really it's 4-6/10 movie

I was a very big fan of FNAF, and I thought that it was pretty bad. The kills like the babysitter being cut in half by Feddy's jaw looked so bloody goofy. At least with Mario, most people who just know the bare minimum can get some enjoyment from it. @@Rnerdy197

I have a general rule of thumb for Rotten tomatoes, when a the critics score is high but the audience score is in the floor it's safe to assume is pretentious oscar-bait. High audience low critic, probably a dumb fun movie, enjoyable but nothing to write home about. High audience, high score? Probably a pretty good film.
Your theory doesnt hold up to be honest and for one example is the latest Ant Man. Movie sucked major balls and it has an 82 on rotten. Audience can be also super dumb some times

I'm surprised Napoleon wasn't at all on Joe's list, I'm glad Alex brought it up since this is a film that i don't want to rewatch that one, other then maybe the first 20 minutes. It's a disgrace to make a film this bad and to skip out on the stuff people would care about, (battles, strategy, the good that Napoleon did in his country), for the fake story of him and Josephine that was a terrible story.

Joe ends up rating a lot of bad films higher such as ant man this year. For context, Joe originally gave “Cats” a 8/10 calling it “ground breaking”, and that “James Corden was hilarious” before later retracting that and naming cats terrible as it should be

I agree that Super Mario Brothers wasn't the best we could have gotten. Luigi was barely in it, and it did get some of the lore wrong, and there was a TON of shoehorned references, but it's serviceable, and I'd definitely watch it again. It's just a fun movie, and it did SUPER well at the box office, like almost record breaking. It's got a lot to like, but I hope the next one, because there is definitely going to be a next one with how well it did, is far better. Also the voice cast was definitely to draw in more watchers, but they all did pretty well, even Chris Pratt, who had a lot of shoes to fill
