Wow I haven't flown in years but that's some of the best flying I've seen! Especially in a f-104 Starfighter my God! I am of the age that I was lucky enough having spent five years growing up on Cape Kennedy I got this to go on a second seat ride in a NASA Starfighter! I'm a Vietnam vet and that still one of the greatest Thrills in my life! Thanks for the video your RC skills are absolutely incredible!!

Yes, a very unforgiving aircraft. No Flight Computers back then; the Pilots were almost super human . They had to have "The Right Stuff"....or they died !

Surely the best flying skills of RC aircraft I've ever seen! The extremely low passes, the inverted flying, loop the loops, all risky maneuvers done with absolute precision and confidence. Beautiful flying, beautiful Starfighters. I salute you all, including the pilot who crashed. That just looked like bad luck.
When I was stationed in Tokyo, I watched Japanese RC pilots fly under CARS! INVERTED!!!They'd be doing stuff like that with half a year's pay (for me) worth of model. Not good for the heart!
So pleased to hear there wasn't much damage. I saw their performance on the RC Scale Airplanes channel and they are truly spectacular. The best RC air display team I think I have seen.
Indeed--I'm sure those turbojet-powered large-scale F-104G models aren't cheap! The team members didn't look upset when the one made an unscheduled landing, though; the grass and/or corn (or was it Sorghum?) provided a cushioned touchdown.

Germans really like American Fighter Aircraft, and I like the F-104s too. This was some awesome flight control with some dramatic maneuvers. Too bad the one malfunctioned. With the amount invested in these planes the last thing you want is a crash.

My favorite jet! Beautiful flying and beautiful builds! Don't let the people that can't read get to you. I have had the same thing happen, music in the background which youtube muted my video for copyright crap. Gys would complain because there was no sound. You can't win either way.

Lovely aircraft, good flying. The size of the aircraft made me think of the crash of the Italian aerobatic team, which killed many in the crowd. This made me look at the proximity of the display (especially the low run along the runway) to the aircraft parking and spectator areas. Without wishing to be pessimistic, one can image what the accident report might say.
Beautiful planes! I wanted for years to build a jet plane but always figured mine would end up where 1 of the 3 of these did,,,so will stick with my slower WWII birds I guess. Much of the time no music is better but understand your explanation in this case. Very good flying.
i was stationed in kirchgoins germany 74 to 76 about once a month a pair of german starfighters would fly over the base balls to the wall at about one hundred feet.trying to defeat our air defense systems the mim 23 hawk surface to air missile systems . i never saw one they startled the hell out of you . by the time you looked up they were already gone .lol
Starfighter is such a gorgeous plane in the sky, but so ugly on the ground. Not great on handling either, they were built to be fast interceptors, no major acrobatics. Those coordinated pitch-roll-bank turns were great!

Incredible! Hahn 81-3 visiting 104's often parked directly in front of structural repair shop where I worked. Italian pilot stuffed several cartons of Marlboros into mid-wing fuselage panel. After start, smoke bellowed from area(more than normal)and was shut down. Bleed air ducts get smokin' hot. Threw damaged cartons on tarmac, we picked them up...restart and addio! During NATO TAC Evals Luftwaffe 104's seemed to strafe lower and faster than others...fantastic memories. Another occurence, GIB took a small TV/VCR along...on his lap.
FYI, the pilots in the Luftwaffe called the F-104 "der fliegende Sarg" which translates to "flying coffin". The thing fell out of the sky at around 200 mph and had a "sedate" approach speed of 210 kts. I have to say that just landing the thing in MS FlightSim 2k4 is "interesting".
The music does compliment the video, but it needs to be turned down a few notches. Other than that it sure would be neat to have a camera inside the cockpit of those planes where the pilots can get an inside view and use virtual reality glasses so they can get a better feel of where the other planes are while flying in tight formation.
Oh, well; at least when he repairs it he can put a different number on it so there's no duplicates. Good flying by the survivors though. Formation flying is very difficult and its probably 5x as hard for R/C; unless you have POV.

It looked like the one that went down WO power went in pretty flat, hopefully it wasn't too bad, but you never know till you go see what was in the area. I've tried to fly formation in RC, and you guys have my respect, IT IS HARD! I've often thought the follow planes would be much easier with good cameras on board, just following the leader, then go visual when you break away, but that would have it's difficulties, too, I'm sure. Did you rebuilt it (didn't look too bad), or just on to "bigger" and "better" things? Every time we tried to fly formation (only a pair), we were flying planes that were vastly different, I'm fairly certain having the "same" plane makes it much more doable, you guys are still among the best RC formation flyers I've seen to date, though. When you set up for a simultaneous landing, I was thinking "you've got to be kidding me"....beautiful, I KNOW that show took much much work. Are there stabilization gyros on the planes? They looked REALLY stable in those low passes.
i think the landing gear on those are 795.00 (usd) bucks alone. you have to have sponsorship to be able to fly one of these. and mad skills on the sticks.

Those jet engines seem quick to fail. I saw an F16 crash into a fireball on an airshow. The engine just fails and it's game over. There goes your 10-15K plane into the ground :(.
It's to bad Uncle Adolph didn't have a few squadrons of these in '44' even miniature RC like these that would have been packed w/explosives and kamikazied into Allied fighters and Bombers which would definitely have changed the outcome of WW 2 for the better especially used in the East.

I flew RC for several years. The one painful lesson I learned was "if it fly's it crashes".

Don't need background music, ( that sucks), watched 2.5 minutes then stopped.
It happened because there were two of the same plane (marked 89). One of them was shot down by the universe to balance existence.

The Starfighter was responsible for so many deaths. It was called "The Flying Coffin". Terrible aircraft that served too long!

As mentioned in the description the 3rd one had a turbine failure.
I am not surprised they crash, Starfighters were called "widowmakers" in real life (they killed lots of pilots !!).
