    I woke up opened my tent on baslow to find one off those highland cattle staring at me they have bloody big horns, not like the cattle surounding my tent on an emergancy need a place to camp quick its getting dark on the longshaw estate (shush dont tell any one) it was like a stampede scene from rawhide , mate didnt warn me just packed up his tent and videoed the cattle round mine,
    Thanks for uploading and taking us on the trip, a great video as allways

    Looks like an interesting walk. I did the Dark Peak Challenge a few years ago but may download this walk to do on my next visit to the Peak District.

    Hi Dean thanks as always for the upload. I am finally getting to the Peak District in August, for some hiking. Your videos always motivate and inspire me. I can't wait to walk Derwent Edge and all. Such a beautiful place.

    After hiking alot inthe more southern parts of the country I finally got myself up to the Peak District for a 4 day wander in the Grindleford, Hathersage, Bamford area. Fox house is great for a pint but found myself at the Millstone a few times, they make a cracking meat and tattie pie!

      @DeanRead  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Carl, it certainly is a great area of the country. Fox House is nice for food, they have improved in recent years and the menu is pretty good now. All the best, Dean.

    Fantastic Video Dean. Great to share in your walks again. Your inclusion of the route map at the end is really handy, thank you. I'm counting the days until 17th August when we arrive in Tideswell for a break (can't wait); some of those edges are now on the planned walking route list thanks to this video! Keep them coming... Thanks, Greg

    Logged on to check my email, this popped up, and found it to be a great start to the day, the open space, the long walk, makes me wish I didn't have 8 hours of sitting on my arse in the office ahead of me.

    A cracking route Dean, some spectacular scenery as always, good bit of training for the Yorkshire 3peaks, I did it a few years back on the hottest day of the year, was hard work but worth all the effort in the end, did it in 10h50mins. Good luck ATB Ben.

    Interesting videos, this on and the circler featuring Hob Hurst house. I know both routes which I have don in bits many years ago, but no longer can go as now I am disabled. I wonder if you are familiar with Stoops. You were close to two at Hob Hurst house, one is the best preserved of the 40 plus that remain in North Derbyshire and you passed close to two on your traverse through Longshaw estate. You also passed to one of them on your way off of Derwent edge down to the A57 road en route to Stanage edge. If you are familiar with their history you will discover Chesterfield spelt 14 different ways, Sheffield 8 different ways. Want to know more, please get in touch. Well done on your blogs.

    another great video dean im going up the peak district later this week i was going to go to the lake district but at £99.00 train fare compared to £40 the peak wins.
    plus your video seals my decision !

      Thanks for watching John, hope you had a great time in the Peaks. I went to the Lakes a few weeks ago for the first time in a couple of years. That'll be the next video on my channel when I can get it edited.

    quality stuff as usual Dean. We are certainly blessed with some amazing views in the Peak District. I was up Bamford Edge last Thursday and for me the view up there is arguably the best. Maybe the 10 edges challenge next time 😜. When are you back out camping? Will you be making an appearance at Edale next week for the GNBC? Cheers...Paul

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Paul. Bamford Edge definitely has the best view, I'm not sure why they didn't include that in the route and then head over the moor to Stanage. Farm work is getting in the way of camping but I was in the Lake District for 4 days a few weeks ago but struggling to find time to edit the video :-) ATB

    you have to hit 7 Waypoints but how you get between them is up to you but mostly only one logical route, i've done it for last 3 years, i do it "Properly" though and go over top at Burbage North & South but you have to drop down to the Gate on the Path for the Checkpoint and majority go down the path which is easier and shorter, the other "Short Cut" is from the last check point which usually is at the gate on the End of Baslow Edge past Monument amd carry on to the road near the Cross Roads of Baslow/owler Bar Road and Clodhall Road, Majority just go diagonally under Birchens to Robin hood,, I go over Gardoms and cut back to Birchens Trig and down the steep path off to the Robin Hood makes 22 Miles ish that way , about 20 if you take the short cuts, Can give you the ref for the checkpoints f need be, Andy

      That's great to know, at least I did it the official way last time. Wanted to save the ladies legs this time, didn't want to scare them off. Luckily they really enjoyed it, my Mrs had a blister but other than that it went well. All the best, Dean.
