You've most likely have it figured out but heres a tip that i used: Use some easy to maintain herbivores at the start. I used Crichtonsaurus because it can be alone. Edmontosaurus if you din't have the crichtonsaurus or maybe a Ceratosaurus if you're at a better place.

For the American shopping strip I replace the wide path with a gyrosphere or tour track
