Two years ago I bought a Cort Gold D8-NAT guitar. From the first day it surprised me, it is very well built and its woods are fantastic. As a live guitar technician and musician, I have tried all kinds of models, brands and ranges. Simply put, the value for money is unrivaled. Congratulations on his work, although he had known the brand for years and knew its productive capacity, he had not seen the factory tour. Hopefully they would achieve the same level in high-series flamenco guitars.

I sold guitars retail for 40 years, and have seen and played some really nice Corts. In the last 20-25 years Asian manufacturing has come a long way, with quality control better than the states in many cases.

Make sure you tried the guitars physically before you buy, I literally went 5 hours traveling to the guitar store and test it and 5 hours back, and it broke my expectation as well, not all expensive guitar will definitely sound good than the cheap one. The model I wanted to buy wasn't as good as I thought it to be, that's the D8 gold series, instead I bought the D6 mahogany ones. That's my 2 cents. Thank you Cort for producing such an amazing guitars at an affordable price tag!

I have recently purchased a Cort Little CJ (Little Cort Jumbo) electro-acoustic guitar which has a small 23-and-a-half-inch scale length, and I can only agree that the feel, tone and build quality of this guitar still contrive to exceed my expectations. What a stonking quality little guitar it is for the money. Thank you Cort.

Does a certain factory do a better job than the other if there is more than one plant? It seems they are made amazingly well, but I know little about guitars. Maybe I'll consider one as I would like a steel string acoustic guitar with good wood and a lower price.

There is a place for Asian-made instruments for sure. They are very much a value, however, they are very much different in construction that most players don't even understand or care about. For instance, most Asian guitars have either polyester or polyurathane finishes (plastic) as opposed to Nitrocellulose finishes on Gibsons and Martins, which let the wood breathe and age. Of course, this only matters if they use quality woods, which Asian-mades don't typically have. Asian factories often color woods to confuse buyers- a lot like old Harmonys and Kays of the 20's to 60's. The one good thing I see, is Asian guitars usually utilize 2-way truss rods as opposed to Gibson, Martin and Mexi Strats and Teles which use an old-style single action compression rod. There are MANY more differences too long to go into here, but I hope this helps.

I own a Cort acoustic, i really had my heart set on buying an expensive prestige brand acoustic.
The problem was that i tried many guitars and even took my old guitar into the stores when testing. Money wasn't really an issue, i wanted an evenly toned guitar that had good intonation.
I passed up some vastly more expensive guitars to buy the Cort that i currently own.
Sometime i think maybe i should have bought one of those highly regarded guitars, but at the time, they just didn't compare.

I bought a Gold Series D6 today and I'm very happy with it, been playing for 6 years and it's time for an upgrade, it's priced very reasonably so u can buy it without compromising other parts of your lives unlike you're buying a Gibson, Martin or Taylor. I compared with a Farida D67 with juiced up specs with spruce rosewood abalone binding all solid. Yea it was sounding better but not sounds extra 500 dollars amazing to me. My point is if you want value out of your purchase and every dollar, look no further than Cort brand, I think no other company would make such an amazing guitar at this price point you pay.

Well, I might as well put my 2 cents worth in. I have 2 Gibsons, a BB King Lucille and a Les Paul and they are both awesome guitars. I also have 3 Chinese made guitars and their quality is every bit as good, if not better than Gibson's and they didn't cost nowhere near as much as the Gibson's. Might as well get used to it, we are going to see more and more Chinese and Mexican guitars in this country. I read a while back that Gibson has some parts that are made in China. That doesn't bother me at all as long as the workers do a good job. Yes, I wish foreign guitar factories treated their workers better, but we can't control that so why get all upset over something we have no control over.

    • @daw162
      @daw162 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There's more to them than the neck, but going to the top of the pile isn't generally done by gibson on any guitars that are in the mid 4 figures range or less. By that, I mean care in wood selection and workmanship like you'll find on a collings guitar.
Poor selection of body wood can result in body hump (actually, even good wood selection might result in that - it's present on a lot of les pauls, in my opinion, a design flaw and the fingerboard and neck should've been slightly proud of the top of the guitar.
I've had four used collings guitars, and none of them have had any movement (the oldest is 13 years old) - all electrics. I'm sure the acoustics move and need attention to the top and neck joint over time.
Point being, if you do some of the one-off things properly and budget hours (and money) to do them, you can really make a superior guitar. It's probably not easy to do that in production numbers, though, beyond very small production. Gibson's production work is usually pretty good, but nobody would confuse it for collings. Their custom work wasn't as good at collings' production work.

Up until 2006, Cort manufactured a line of high quality guitars under the name 'Cort Parkwood'. In 2006, Cort turned Parkwood into a brand of its own and now does not feature the Cort name or logo. This is a brand sold exclusively through big box stores such as Guitar Center. Cort continues to manufacture the Parkwood Brand in South Korea, the Hybrid series coming from Indonesia.

Cort guitars are well made. Cort OEM manufactures many famous import guitar lines and consistently does a good job. But Cort guitars just don't have good resale so it's advisable to look for them used. Their acoustics are good for laying down backing tracks and general comping, they tend to be easy to mic and stay in tune pretty well once set up well. Their electrics have pickups that work well with pedals but sometimes they need to be wax potted or will squeal. And as with most Asian guitars you can expect they will need fret sprout trimming and occasionally a new nut after about a year along with truss rod adjustment. I have a couple of their acoustics and a bass I keep around and they work well for their intended purposes. Not a big fan of their amps.

A friend have a Cort acoustic guitar, He don't know which model, ´cause there is no model imprint, but sure sounds really good! We use it for recording mostly, and it really has a nice chime to it!

All arguments aside, if I tried one, and it felt and sounded good, I'd buy it, regardless of whether it was hand made or otherwise

I got Cort LC100 NS. I bump the headstock and got dent a bit. I want to apply some thin top coat to hide the dent. What specific topcoat does Cort uses on their satin finish guitar?
    Thanks

Just because it was made in China doesn't mean it's terrible. After watching the video with the Asian workers working on these guitars, I can see that they're really good quality :)

This can't be legit they would have about 12 mins to get that thing built and loaded up on a truck in this competitive industry
