It’s a song of hurt. It’s about his divorce.. “I know someday you will have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be a star. In someone else’s sky…but why couldn’t it be mine”
Eddie Vedder. Isn't his voice amazing, Dub? Now you can see why this is one of my favorite bands & videos. Pearl Jam is one of the big 5 of grunge in the '90's. Pearl Jam - Eddie Vedder Soundgarden - Chris Cornell Nirvana - Kurt Cobain Alice In Chains - Layne Staley Stone Temple Pilots - Scott Weiland Eddie is the only lead singer of the 5 groups still alive. Heartbreaking! All 5 singers have extraordinary voices. Eddie is my personal favorite. "Black" is such a beautiful song. I was going to tell you the song is about unrequited love - but I think Eddie explains it best in this quote: "It's about first relationships. The song is about letting go. It's very rare for a relationship to withstand the Earth's gravitational pull and where it's going to take people and how they're going to grow. I've heard it said that you can't really have a true love unless it was a love unrequited. It's a harsh one, because then your truest one is the one you can't have forever."
Metallica, "The Black Album" Pearl Jam, "Ten" Guns N' Roses, "Use Your Illusion 1&2" Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" Soundgarden, "Badmotorfinger" Nirvana, "Nevermind" All of these amazing albums came out within 41 days of each other in 1991. 1991 was a very good year.
@@STAR-ot3kr I think he was referring to Stone Temple Pilots but, considering how different sounding the big 4 can sound, I think you could easily slide Smashing Pumpkins in there
Congratulations, you've become a pearl jam fan.. the Singer is Eddie Vedder, he is amongst the most recognizable singers of all time. Now go and listen to the WHOLE pearl jam catalog.
He's the only grunge frontman alive! And the irony of it is all of us that attended any PJ shows in the 90's just knew he was going to kill himself during one of his "climbing" stunts! Watch the video for "Porch" at Pinkpop 92 and you'll understand!
Yep, he was insane in the early days. Scared the crap out of everyone. "Look ma! No net!" Yet the crowd had his back literally. I remember seeing him get pissed off because he saw a guy in the crowd who had stripped him of a favorite t-shirt during one of his crowd surfing adventures... Vedder was hilarious about it but I remember thinking that I was happy not to have been the dick head he recognized.🤣

This might be one of my favorite reactions ever to this performance...Eddie Vedder wrote this song and it was so personal to him that the band made a decision that they would never release it. Obviously they eventually changed course and did - thank God - because it is a deep and emotional song for him. If you watch closely to his body language, he often holds his hands to his gut - that's a protective reaction when someone is feeling something so deeply - so is the way he was so completely in a different place than that MTV studio during that performance. When he was bouncing in his seat it's because it's incredibly difficult for him to stay in one place when he performs - watch any of his live videos from concerts...he would climb the huge speaker systems and jump down 15+ feet during guitar solos, or climb the scaffolding and swing from the rafters! He has so much energy and passion that it explodes from him. He - and Pearl Jam - are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and are one of that few remaining bands from that time (my high school years.) Nothing better than seeing someone discover Pearl Jam for first time. Eddie's one of the great rock vocalists. Along with three other notable vocalists, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Laine staley of Alice in Chains and Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, who are often referred to collectively as the "Big four" because they were considered the most successful grunge acts that defined the genre. Sadly, Eddie is now the only surviving vocalist from the big four as kurt, laine and Chris all died young in tragic circumstances. Eddie holds a really special place in my heart and for so many Grunge fans as he is keeping the spirit of a genre alive, he's also a really sweet guy, humble, generous to his fans and someone with a strong social conscience. O recommend checking out Pearl Jam's masterpiece of an album Ten. It's still considered one of the best rock albums ever made and with good reason. If you like passion and emotion then Grunge is the way to go! Thanks for the reaction 🤘🤘🤘

I would put the 1993 Tool Sober Pro Shot performance right there but I agree; the emotion here is top notch. I will take a singer that is a little off key or not completely in sync but is singing from the heart any day over this American Idol, autotune BS we have now.

Hey Bro, As I’m sure you know by name the man’s name is Eddie Vedder and he fronts what is the greatest rock bank of the past 25 years… Pearl Jam! Phenomenal isn’t he! They’ve been one of my fav bands since 1994 because the hit the ball out of the park in several ways! Firstly …. Eddie!! 🤦🏽♀️ The voice … The swag… The way he conveys emotion AND last but certainly not least … I dig that Eddie’s 🔥 never goes out! Sometimes it’s raging and other times it’s simmering but it’s always there! Mind you …. Pearl Jam has consistently remained one of the top touring bands (in the world) without doing much advertising, videos or promotion! They’re music speaks for itself!! 🥰 I dug your reaction to Led Zepplin’s “Kashmir” also! I cut my teeth on Zepplin and now Pearl Jam has kept that spirit in this decade! I see you love rock and so do I. When you get into classic R&B hit me up and I’ll give you some suggestions!! 😉 I hold the title as the #1 PRINCE 💜FAN IN THE WORLD so …. When you’re ready for him holla at me! Blessings to you Bro! 😎 💜🙏🏽

Hello yeah I feel it, back in. Mexico when I didn't know any English, there's was no Google, internet was barely a thing, no way to translate and just by listening to his the music and the was he was singing, I felt it, music truly has no language.
Great reaction! You should check out Jeremy - official video (uncensored version) Also if you want to hear more of the band, the Unplugged performance of “Alive” has a good jam session at the end!
Hands down one of the best live performances ever. Eddie puts so much of his soul into his performances. Appreciate your reaction to it. You should take a look at Pantera’s “Cemetery Gates” sometime.
DUDE!!! I loved your reactions! Lol you cracked me up but my good god above he does have a voice straight from heaven. That’s our Eddie Vedder and he’s one of the most brilliant song writers and vocalists ever walked the earth. Thank you for appreciating this song so much. I’d love for you to also do their song oceans. And porch. Porch is faster more upbeat and fun.
I LOVE watching people react to this beautifully painful song. This performance especially.
No one invokes emotion like Eddie! The “grunge” era is all about the emotions. One of the best genres
Agree. Some of the best music of all time came out of that grunge-era!
Emotions and drugs and girl power (sort of)
He is pretty amazing
I agree I miss these days of smoke filled coffee shops, flannel, great music all over the radios and tv
Emotion, Social Conscience, and Flannel? I made a tape in college that proposed 4 tenets of grunge.. Kinda forgot some of them..
“Black” is the definitive 90’s song
It’s a song of hurt. It’s about his divorce.. “I know someday you will have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be a star. In someone else’s sky…but why couldn’t it be mine”
Hands-down. Still to this day. My favorite album of all.
Yup. Been feelin' this performance since 1992. Eddie at his best, yet he was sick. Get that, he was not feeling well.

I remember listening to this over and ocer after the break up with my first fiance. Luckily I grew up in a household in which a bunch of genres of music.
Yes, I still tear up when I hear it.
It was a very personal song about a break up Eddie went through.
Great video, so happy you were able to discover Pearl Jam , I highly recommend you dive deeper into their catalog and if you ever get a chance to see them live , go to the show , it’s an experience in itself 🤙😊
Yes peal jam is a vibe def
Thanks for watching this one
I just love it forever...grunge is still alive...
Dub Great Reaction. I love this song especially this performance. The singer is Eddie Vedder. The raw emotions of this song and performance just hits you right in the face. It’s just so damn good and heart wrenching at the same time.😀👍❤️✌️🌼
Marnie hey? How are you?
Yes this is an amazing song I must say his voice is out of this world
@@dubzer0649 I’m doing OK. Hope all is good with you❤️✌️🌼
The man of men is no other than Eddie Vedder
He is pretty awesome
Hey Bro,
As I’m sure you know by name the man’s name is Eddie Vedder and he fronts what is the greatest rock bank of the past 25 years… Pearl Jam!
Phenomenal isn’t he!
They’ve been one of my fav bands since 1994 because the hit the ball out of the park in several ways!
Firstly …. Eddie!! 🤦🏽♀️
The voice … The swag… The way he conveys emotion AND last but certainly not least … I dig that Eddie’s 🔥 never goes out! Sometimes it’s raging and other times it’s simmering but it’s always there!
Mind you …. Pearl Jam has consistently remained one of the top touring bands (in the world) without doing much advertising, videos or promotion! They’re music speaks for itself!! 🥰
I dug your reaction to Led Zepplin’s “Kashmir” also!
I cut my teeth on Zepplin and now Pearl Jam has kept that spirit in this decade!
I see you love rock and so do I.
When you get into classic R&B hit me up and I’ll give you some suggestions!! 😉
I hold the title as the #1 PRINCE 💜FAN IN THE WORLD so ….
When you’re ready for him holla at me!
Blessings to you Bro! 😎
💜🙏🏽

Jeremy (Pearl Jam) oficial video unicensured ith amazing
Def will check it out
Hello yeah I feel it, back in. Mexico when I didn't know any English, there's was no Google, internet was barely a thing, no way to translate and just by listening to his the music and the was he was singing, I felt it, music truly has no language.
Watching that performance is a religious experience for anyone with a soul.
Great reaction! You should check out Jeremy - official video (uncensored version)
Also if you want to hear more of the band, the Unplugged performance of “Alive” has a good jam session at the end!
Hey thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
I def will check out that video
Thanks for the suggestion
Who can NOT feel his passion!?
Amazing reaction!
Hands down one of the best live performances ever. Eddie puts so much of his soul into his performances. Appreciate your reaction to it.
You should take a look at Pantera’s “Cemetery Gates” sometime.
I’m with you
This was pretty amazing
Check out their MTV Unplugged performance of "Jeremy" and "Porch'
Ok will do

Porch is a must. Oceans, from the same Unplugged, is another amazing vocal performance
I wasn't a grunge person however, I owned this album when it came out...the instruments and vocals
I’m feeling’ it, money..
Vedder, cray!
