I have never understood the logic some people have that voting for business owners is the best choice. People have said things like, "they know how to run a business so that means they can run the government." First, a business and government are not the same, and second, why would a business owner create laws that benefits the workers and not the business owners. And people fall for it every time. Politicians like Trump, who have never worked for a single dollar they have, will stand in front of working class people and tell them they are on their side. And the voters stupidly eat it up, and then wonder why their life sucks after the election.

We tried to start a Whole Foods Union and we got let go under the “no moonlighting” clause. We made 10 dollars an hour so many of us worked night jobs. But Whole Foods does not allow for second jobs. They hired me and I had a second job.

Most do not understand what unions, especially trade unions deal with to ensure fair wages. Management pushes hard and dirty. I worked as a salt for tapers and painters in Seattle WA in the '90's. I was beaten with a chain and my skull cracked in 6 places. An Hispanic co-worker on a scab company which had gotten convention center residential hotel refurbish job, a job city contracted to be union, a job I infiltrated, was stabbed, next day I was locked in a room of the hotel- sent in to do punch holiday finish 2 floors above where crew was prepping and spraying. I once in that room working, back to the door, someone shut the door and locked it, this was a Friday an hour before clock out. I was lucky to get attention of someone to unlock the door - I would have been in there until Monday morning or later. It was intentional and done by the scab management who were getting big heat from the union business rep, which I instigated. Non union and management play criminal. hard ball.
The union organizers and salts and those who fill picket lines; they literally bleed for the workers rights.

I agree with the police but not with the teachers. Police in the US already are immensely powerful and unions only make them more powerful. With teachers they really don't have that much power. However there should be regulations on what unions can barter over and it should mainly be pay and benefits especially so in the public sector.
@@MrMarinus18 I am not saying the union gives the position power. The position of an officer in society all ready comes with more power than a teacher. I am saying that the union gives the position protection. By organizing on a national level the unions are able to argue for better pay, better benefits, and protects them from being fired. They also unite political support in order to get laws passed. Don’t focus on who is more powerful teachers or police, stay focused on the point of union vs non union.
