The sound that Greatman is singing between 17:35 and 19:58 is the sound of mourning. When we ask the Lord to do it-His will. There is a certain response which is the persecution of our soul. Like Jesus in Gethsemane, the will of God is not without a certain forsaking. This is His delight for the one He loves.
All I could hear was, 'Your will be done!' To think I found this just after we finished our 3 days of prayers and fasting on this same theme: Your Will Be Done. God loves to confirm His word. I'm amazed! 😅🤭
I’m one of those people who listen to one song at a time. Like literally one song at a time. Every time I find a song I like, I create a single song playlist on my phone, set it to repeat and listen to it over and over and over again. I work out to it. I run to it. I travel to it. And for me right now that song is Pray for me by Darey Art-Alade. Why that song? I’m glad you asked. This song is my story. This song is your story. This song is our story. When you listen to the lyrics of this song (and I’m all about the lyrics of songs!) it takes you on a journey into your past, helps you make sense of your present and gives you hope despite the uncertainty of your future. In case you’re wondering how I’m coming up with such heavy revelations from what some might view as a simple song, please journey with me through the lyrics of this song. “Woke up one Sunday morning told my daddy I’m leaving home I’m going off to the city tomorrow even though I don’t know where to go” Have you ever felt like this? I know I have. We all get to a point where we outgrow the nest, right? Where the most difficult decision you have to make is how to tell those you love that you have “seen” the city, and you must go to the city because that is where you belong. Because once you’ve seen the city you can’t “unsee” the city. “Daddy said son, don’t be a fool cos life in the city is unbelievable you could get broken oh!!! you’re just a little boy and you may never find your way.” They love you. They believe in you, but sometimes their love for you can be crippling, and even when they catch a glimpse of your destiny, they might not be able to be honest with you out of fear, so they hold back their affirming support. Like Mary in Luke 2:41-52, who eventually realized that her 12 year old son named Jesus did the right thing by staying behind in the “unbelievable city” (Jerusalem) where he could have “gotten broken oh” and ‘might have never found his way.’ But she couldn’t tell him. She “treasured all these things in her heart.” Like that parent who tells you to take that job instead of pursuing your dreams, even though they know the feeling of not stepping out in faith, because they never did. Or that spouse who is worried about your decision to quit that job to pursue your dreams, even though he/she knows that pursing your dream is the only way you are ever going to feel alive. Sometimes your loved ones are not going to understand and you’re just going to have to tell them “forgive me father but I got to take a chance and I’m already gone so just pray for me.” Like when Jesus told his parents in Luke 2:49 that the “city” (temple courts in Jerusalem) was His Father’s “house”. The scriptures say “they did not understand what he was saying to them.” Because you still need their love, forgiveness and prayers when you discover your purpose, but you also know you have to act on your purpose, even though you don’t know how to articulate it yet. So you just want to tell them “pray for me.” You just want them to join you in this journey of engaging with God on the things you want to see happen in your life. That’s what prayer does, right? And isn’t there something about having the people you love, on that journey with you? But time teaches us that their fears are valid. Time teaches us “it was true what they said to us”. “Life in the city is unbelievable.” We have to “struggle just to get by every day” and we can “barely find our way”. And even though we’ve had to miss out on a lot, to get to our destination, even though we’ve had to say no to a lot of precious things and precious life moments, we understand that this was the sacrifice to say yes, to our dreams. But they prayed for us. They engaged with God on our behalf for us to get to our destiny. And through the hardships, through the sacrifices, their prayers were some of the propellers God used to elevate us to where we are today. Because they prayed for us. “Pray for me. gbadura fun mi pray I find my way k’ori bamise oh Forgive me father but I got to take a chance oh I’m already gone so just pray for me.” The chorus to this song stays in my spirit all day and does what prayer does. It gives me that confidence that I’ll be ok “in the city”.
