I believe the wisest decision that should be on every individual list is to invest in a different stream of income and don't depend on the government to bring you money. It's always better to work smart and not hard.

A lot of great insights from this interview. I’ve heard a lot from Chanos but Bethanys explanation of the “powerful men don’t want to appear dumb by asking basic questions” phenomenon was very powerful

It has always puzzled me that if Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are a standard and have meaning, why do you only hear about non-GAAP earnings? They can report what they want, but you don't have to repeat the rosy picture in media.
"Hey everybody, let me present you the best numbers the accountants were willing to give me without risking jail"

Envestnet is a good example of ridiculous earnings adjustments. Their financial statements are absurd.

Why do due diligence if you can purchase an asset at a discount to a ridiculous market price and flip it to true believer naive small investors later on at a profit? If enough of the investing public will buy unprofitable companies at ridiculous prices, there is an opportunity to make money by buying ahead of them. Granted when market sentiments shift you don’t want to be left holding the bag.

Basically you can either research an investment or research the population of market agents that will influence the price of that investment. Sometimes number two dominates number one for reasonably long periods of time.

How can Mr Chanos keep losing so much investor funds without a cause and effect.?

This is her first talk that doesn’t mention Fannie Freddie. She is still obsessed with Enron though.
