  • The next bus spotting video is here, and this time we return to a past location. A few years back we visited Piccadilly in Manchester, and it became one of my more popular uploads of the series at the time. I decided, as I had some free time whilst there, to record another episode from the main bus station at Piccadilly Gardens, and then from the other side of the Gardens themselves, to compare the network post-Bee Network Tranches 1 and 2 to that original visit. With lots of new types to see for Manchester, and plenty of new electrics too, it is quite the change, and one I really love because the yellow still looks great to me, plus we get Evoras now!

Having not been watching buses round Manchester for a fair few years, it does seem strange seeing double deckers on the Free Bus routes. I remember these routes were originally Solos and then went onto Versa's. I also go back even further in the 80's when the equivalent route was run by Dennis Domino's.

In fairness, the deckers are a stopgap. There's supposed plans to invest in new electric singles for them in the next wave of Bee Network orders

In between next month and December, we're due new buses which are Evoras and 200MMCs to replace some Pulsars, so if you want to come down and get them, then you can, i could join too

    Great video again Lucy!
Quick question....in the future, will every bus in Greater Manchester have the Yellow livery? 👍🙂

The Bee Network livery and interiors will be fitted to every bus operated on routes under the network. Whilst that is in theory every depot within the region, the exception to that theory is Belle Vue Coaches, as the 391, 392 and 393 will remain commercial routes due to being funded by Cheshire East Council

Nice video, though is there a reason why you call buses like 19498 a Trident when it's an Enviro400 as the Trident ceased production in 2006?

They are badged Tridents since they are a modified version of the Trident chassis its the same with the E200 initially being badged as a Dart 4 chassis, I don’t know how different the chassis are though in both classic and MMC spec apart from having newer Cummins engines.

The First Generation Enviro 400s were still classed as Tridents. The second generation ones were when the chassis was named the "E40D", even though those are technically Trident 5s officially. That's why though.
