I've been looking for this review for days... THANK YOU!!! I just purchased 2 12in FTX1225's with the networks off Ebay for a really unbelievable price ($180 after shopping costs 🤩). Now hearing this, I wish I could afford 2 more for my project.
I like both sounds, the older version sounds more painterly much more analog bloom, sort of like an oil painting the newer upgrade sounds like a digital print very defined. I think for a solo show the older version would be my choice, in a band situation the newer
Wow. What a difference. I watched this because I am looking at buying a used KC - 500 and wanted some reviews on them. I'm guessing this is pretty much the same thing with a little less power. The guy is only asking $125 for it so I think I'm going to jump on it.

I have a Roland KC 550 speaker. I want to upgrade it, but is the outer diameter of the speaker the same? because the FTX 1225 is 12 Inch while the Roland KC 550 is 15 Inch, thank you

Treble is much brighter after the replacement, good job! Hope Roland can take this suite as a reference.

I've had mine for the best part of 20 years and it still works really well - a great workhorse for gigging keyboards

I found a good deal for $100. I am mainly a bass player, but im gonna add a keyboard to the band. Can I play both bass and piano on this amp? Thanks
Is that an MDF/PB speaker baffle and then some type of plywood for the other panels?
Not sure it's a standard Roland cab I only switched the speaker

Hi I used the FTX1530 speaker, sorry the link to the suggested crossover design was incorrect it is now correct and pointing to the 15"

Yes, still sounds great - of course the cost is quite high, but of you want to improve on the standard KC500 it is a good way to go.
