  • I'm really sorry for the quality of this, I don't own the source tape.

That was a stroll down memory lane. Thank you for sharing.
After the race I went down the pit lane and it's perfectly true the drivers and team mechanics were very friendly and engaging and I had very interesting and informative chats particularly with Dick Simon and Tom Bagley's mechanic from whom I learnt the American expression SWAG and it's application to aerodynamics. Being so close to the cars and drivers I was able to take once in a lifetime photos with my dad's camera that I had borrowed for the day. I fully realised the sense of occasion so these photos were going to be cherished. Imagine my disappointment the next day when I realised the film hadn't spooled over. I didn't have a single photo. Absolutely nothing. DO'H! DO'H! DO'H! DO'H! DO'H!

This a found treasure. Really makes Ongais look accomplished.

They called him “Danny On-The-Gas” for a reason! A week earlier when USAC ran at Silverstone Ongias was 2 seconds faster than the existing Formula One track record. No small feat considering the cars back then were significantly heavier than F1

They also ran at Silverstone the week before this. ABC televised that race, but nothing from that race has surfaced in racing trade circles yet. Here is the result of the Silverstone race in case you are interested:

Ive always wonderd the same and why it wasn't called the 'club' or 'national' circuit. Never had a clue that this series raced here. As indycars were quite big and bulky im wondering why they didn't use the full course.
I was searching for WSC Brands 1000 km races and was shocked to find this! Also did you notice the guy at 16:41 and his 'hostility' /hospitality Freudian slip?
Hope you're well and good and staying safe and sound, strong and sane!

It's a pity that race didn't happen on the full Brands Hatch's racing track.

Seems a bit of a sprint track for the Indycars. Still, 170 mph is pretty darn quick.

Too bad they didnt use full track. Always curious how their speed tracks against F1. Theyd be a bit behind in 78 compared to the revolutionary Lotus in F1
    Im pretty sure.

Hilarious that the people interviewed seemed to all agree that the American drivers were all nice people, while the European F1 drivers were mostly posh a-holes. 🤣

I doubt that considering Ongais best the f1 silver stone track record in a race they did there before this one.
