    Metallurgy has always been fascinating to me but I never had the time to emerge into it as much as I wanted. I've worked construction my whole life, I'm retired now but it still find it fascinating. Thank you for your videos.

    There are so many guys out there making knives, but you're the only one melting down various steela to make your own wootz billets. Absolutely incredible work and I'm absolutely fascinated by watching the various combinations of metals you put together. Will you ever dabble with adding specific adjuncts to your billets like vanadium, molybdenum, or nickel? I would love to see some experimental alloys to see how they turn out.

      Hes really one of the only smiths on youtube that i have seem thats making TRUE damascus. Or at least the closest modern day smiths will come to true damascus

      @@DirtRoadKing007 Agreed. I really hesitate to even call modern pattern welded billets "Damascus". Honestly, the only other smith that I've seen making their own billets like this is Bob Kramer. I'm sure there are others, but these are the only two I know of.

      @@coltonthorpe7812 domt get me wrong with modern day machining and knowledge, the patterns and mosaic pieces that smiths like Ilya alexiav, kyle royer, norse forge, and multiple others on youtube have created are works of art and not to take anything away from that level of skill

    Thank you for sharing. The blade is absolutely gorgeous. However, I have some concerns about the guard: its edges are likely to make it somewhat uncomfortable.

    Amazing to see you work really enjoying the start all the metal into the crucible and then into the fire.
    That billet looked very hard even hot makes me wander what the Stanley blades be like being tungsten steel alloy. What you have made is beautiful that blade looks awesome

    Kinda seems like that stainless steel wootz was super tough to forge.

      I think stainless air hardens. Usually at red heat it's starts getting tough to work. Gotta keep it at almost forge welding temps.

      Moving any steel with that diameter by hand takes forever. That’s a huge hammer to be swinging one handed for any amount of time.

      @@SonoraSlinger I don't think those "construction blades" AKA box cutting razors are stainless.
      I've carried them for years and they rust quickly.

      @@SuperSteelSteve I think there are different kinds my dad and I have used both normal and stainless and there are also I think some that are coated with some kind of protection but they don’t work if you actually use the blades but yeah don’t quote me though
