Wow, excellent video, I was wrestling with it trying to thread it in through the top. Pulling the wheel makes a nightmare into a very easy job. Thank you mucho👍👍👍👍
I always replaced the serpentine belt in our 2001 Saturn SL2 applying the tensioner tool (I have the same as in your film, fm HF) from the top. So I ended on the AC pulley. It was hard, but somehow I did it, thinking to cut that long handle once and have the tensioner to be turned on larger angle. I also have an expensive tool for that purpose and tried today same way, fm the top. And it was just a nightmare. That long HF tool also didn't work. I'll do tomorrow fm/the bottom, ending on the Crank Shaft. I also did couple times before the way you do, but had impression that the right way is from the top. I see my mistake now. I just worry that the serpentine belt will stretch during the night time, since I left it partially engaged on the AC Pulley. Thank you for posting your very useful film.
@@s33therfan My pleasure. The belt seemingly didn't stretch or anything (I drove the car today). I put the belt yesterday still from the top, since it was almost there, and at the day time I could see clearly where the wrench from that GearWrench Serpentine Belt Tool goes on the tensioner bolt. After I set the belt I couldn't extract the tool for ~5 min. though due to limited space there. Now I bought on Amazon 2 super long (~14 in) wrenches #14 for the future. I think that is what should be applied on Saturn. Or to set the wrench from the bottom your way. I also think why before I was able somehow to pull the belt on fm the top w/that long HF tool, bcs the belt was a bit dirty (though new). But this time I washed it, dried and applied the Belt Dressing, so the slippage was very limited.
Thanks for the information. My son has a 2001 Saturn SL2. I'm about to change the serpentine belt and this video will help. Have you ever replaced the tensioner pulley and idler pulley? The belt kit I bought has those included and I would think that a new tensioner pulley would be a good idea on a 23 year old car right? My sons car belts squeal a LOT and I think that may be the cause. Thanks again!
I have replaced them on others and you are correct about being a great idea replacing them while you are at it. Usually they start making a squeaking noise. Thank you for the feedback.

Servicing the transmission fluid & filter on these is even easier than replacing the serpentine belt...

Thanks for the video. Very helpful
Thank you very much
does the sl2 use the same belt as a sw2 it’s just the wagon version
It would be the same belt. Thanks for the question.
