This is an awesome video explaining the difference of speed bag swivels. I suggest you trade that D-swivel (or U-bolt) swivel for a brush-pile, then burn the brush-pile to roast marshmellows with the fire. Stay with a Ball hook model.
Hey man, help me out. I want to get a speed bag platform for my house. Will a 24” diameter drum be big enough for a 11” x 8” or 10” x 7” speed bag? Should I spend the extra for 30” diameter drum?
@@Speedbagthrasher Hey Jeff. Question for you: Can that porter swivel fit in the title swivel base housing? It seems a little big to me... And would you be willing to make a ball hook swivel that can screw into existing housings? I would definitely buy it. Great videos BTW
@@coal1987 thank you very much! I’ve had a lot of fun helping baggers find their flow. None of the swivels that screw into their bases are interchangeable with other brands. They do that on purpose. Easiest way to explain it, that’s like trying to get Mustang wheels to fit on a Lambo, it just won’t fit. I’ve tried in the past with the 5 swivels I have with screw in bases to see if any will fit with a different brand. None of them would. I wasn’t too surprised. As of now I have no intention to make a screw in base. I’ve had too many old school baggers in gyms talk about seeing them come apart while someone was going 100mph and didn’t realize it had backed out of the threads and almost took their face off. The original reason those were made that was so that people could replace the rope that was tied to the ball quicker. Then they brought them back because gym owners were tired of people steeling the swivels so they used the threaded base to prevent theft. They unscrew the swivel from the base and lock it up. My number is 903-738-1312 if you want to see any pictures of these. I love talking shop. What skills are you currently working on? If you have WhatsApp you can message me there and share some videos.
Jeff... Also, (as they sit there side by side), you can clearly see the "Low Pro" height different between them. Besides having the comparable weight to a brake caliper, those big honk'n metal ones drop the ball allot further down from the drum than the next gen EVO models making them slower due to inertia. Title, Forza and Meister have tried to shorten or miniaturize their swivels, but I've found these to have a tendency to do some unpredictable, erratic weirdness (Scientific observation) when introducing side strike transitions.
I wish I would’ve had a LMF shackle swivel when I made this video. It is hands down the best non ball and hook swivel out there. Super fast, super short arc, the u-shape of the shackle keeps the ball centered and doesn’t slide around on the bar, and it doesn’t have that giant chunk of metal the U-hook hangs from so it allows direction changes to happen a lot better than most U-hooks.
What is your recommendation for speed bag. I'm at #4 on your lessons. Very new. There's 7 guys at the gym basically doing this together. Coach is all about following you & seems only a handful of lessons ahead of us. The rival bag you recommended last year isn't available. Liking the tear drop shape myself.
What’s up Pat!? Man, I can’t tell you how excited that gets me knowing my videos are helping baggers out there learn how much fun this is! Where are y’all from? I’m down in Corpus Christi, Tx. The Rival ball that I was using in so many videos is unfortunately not available any more and the new rival ball is a real let down. I really liked that ball a lot too. That is until I was given a Jim Bradley Pro ball from a friend in Australia as gift for helping her out with lessons. I don’t really considered them lessons as much as bagging with a friend via video chat. Absolutely the fastest way to get better on the bag. Y’all let me know if I can ever do some video chat with you guys and maybe give some real time pointers. Ok back to speed bags lol. I personally always use a 6x9 Jim Bradley pro ball. I do sell them on my website, I don’t use them because I sell them, I sell them because they are hands down one of the best balls on the planet. They’re expensive, $120 a ball but let me tell you it just takes hitting it one time and you suddenly forget about the cost. It’s also going to last you a long time!!! Money well spent, I normally only run about 2.5 to 3psi in mine and they absolutely fly!! Top grain leather that feels like expensive driving gloves. Where as a ball like the cleto Reyes you have to air it up to 9 or 10 psi to get a half decent rebound off it. It feels like punching a brick and is slow. Out of all the bags I’ve tried, the Meister bag is only $35.00 and is pretty soft and has a pretty good rebound. They only come in black and the bladders need to be aired up every few days to once a week. They have a slow leak. The Everlast bag that is the real leather and runs around $50 is a decent bag. I’m not a fan of the 5x8, I like the 6x9 best or even the 7x10. It has a pretty good rebound and pretty light. Thing I hate about the everlast is sometimes you get a ball that’s banana shaped instead of the nice tear drop shape. Almost all of the title bags need to have the stock bladder pulled out of them and replaced with an Enkay bladder that you can buy of their website. Fighting sports Fury speed bag is only $25 on Amazon. I feel like they have a dead rebound but I’ve seen some guys use them and say they are decent. The balazs Lazer bag is ok, for me it’s kind of heavy. If all you wanted to do was boxing style that would probably be the ball I would recommend because they’re really solid bag. I’ll be honest, my biggest problem with speed bags is I am always comparing them to the Jim Bradley pro ball and none of them come close to feel and performance. I hope this has helped out some. Feel free to text or call me if you have more questions. 903-738-1312. I’m always down to talk shop!! Thanks for reaching out with you question. But if you you’re dead set on using the chain link you need to use a flat head screw driver to spread the master link clip. There are multiple ways to go about getting it off. I hope you like it. There are a lot of swivels out there. Mine were used at the annual speed bag gathering this year and had great reviews by everyone. Let me know if you have any questions.
I ordered a title lighting and it had multiple quality issues. It's made in pakistan. The bearings are cheap quality and my loop was not square. The pin could not be removed or install with ease. Title sent me a new one and I have repaired the original one. I put some high quality bearings from Japan. 6600 bearing by NSK and I cut and welded the loop to make it even. It works flawless. The new one that replaced it, I swapped the bearings out for the Japan made ones and it is a very nice swivel now.
That’s an excellent question. It took me 8 months of trial and error and several thousand dollars later to come up with the mix I use now. The mix I use now is extremely durable but it is equally as difficult to get the desired results. I started out with RC-3 from hobby lobby. That stuff works real well for you to start playing with for very little cost and is much more forgiving than the mix I’ve come up with.
