The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite reads of the year! Set mainly in Alaska and focuses a lot on motherhood and the lengths you would go for your child. All of her work is excellent :)
So glad you loved The Women too!! Hope you can check out more Kristin Hannah books now that you liked that one 😊 I’ve heard such mixed things about A Ministry of Time and am still on the fence on whether or not I want to read it, haha. The whole thing about the real life guy it’s apparently inspired by had me cracking up!! The Third Gilmore Girl was such a fun one, I had no idea about her career either and really enjoyed getting to hear about her life even apart from Gilmore Girls. I really want to read The Wedding People! And yeah, Peter and Petra are the worst… I gave Funny Story the same rating, such a good book!!
I love these type of videos and I plan on reading some of my backlog list of some of the books on my tbr from the Goodreads awards choice awards since 2011 just to see what the hype was for those books. Funny Story is such a good book. Happy reading!! 🖥💻
I love Kristin Hannah . I do feel like someone her books can be a bit long. but no NO No one can write characters like she does. you are so invested in her stories and characters . please read more of her. I would love to know you thoughts on my favorite book by her. The great alone. and of course the nightingale was good too. 💻
I have Funny Story, Wedding People, and the Third Gilmore Girl all on my TBR. I have not read any of this years winners though. I have read many of the other top books in a few categories though.
I haven’t tried Emily Henry yet but I have Funny Story on my kindle. I may have to try it now. I also want to read Kelly Bishop’s book. I loved her on Gilmore Girls too. Don’t have it yet but eventually I’ll get it!
I've heard nothing but amazing things about Kristin Hannah, but similarly, I've never read anything by her. Last week I created a new shelf on my Goodreads specifically for her entire works and it's my 2025 goal to make a dent in them. So excited to begin that journey!
This was my first Kristin Hannah, and, to be completely honest, I'm a little upset that I waited this long to read her! What a great idea to make an author to prioritize in the new year! 😍
I haven't done an unhaul yet on camera! Usually I just take my books that I no longer want/need on my shelves to our local little free library, but maybe I can film the next unhaul process! I've also thought about starting a Read It or Unhaul It series! 🤔
I actually caaaaan understand this if I reallllly think about it 🧐 Although I've loved everything by her that I've read so far, I do HAVE to be specifically in an "Emily Henry mood" in order for them to hit juuuuust right. If I tried to force one of her books or start it at the wrong time, I don't think they would be rated quite as high!
@@sheisbookedandbusy yeah I can see that, I think I am just not a romcom girlie they all tend to be too cringe for me. Now smutty romance I can get behind 😂
In "Ministry of Time" I'm not that bothered by the author fictionalizing a real person. It's a pretty common situation when you read historical novels. My issue is that the book was trying to do too much things at once: sci-fi (for like 10 minutes), romance, commentary on racism and immigration, mystery... If the author had focused on 1 aspect and explored it to the max, I don't think the "fan-fiction" would have bothered people so much.

I felt the same way about the Ministry of Time! The concept is great but I feel like it fell short in a lot of ways.
Yessss!! It had so much potential but the execution was just so poorly done! 😞

I may have to remind myself on the winners from the past few years too!

Omg yes! Please do! It's great! 😊
💻 I really liked Funny Story as well and thought Peter was the worst. I'll have to check out The Women and see if I'll like it.
I would have loved to give Peter a piece of my mind, that's for sure!!! 😠 Please check out The Women & tell me what you think! 😍
